Sotel Amsterdam Central Station

Room, hotel and staff were nice. Did pay for a upgraded room which I didn’t receive the first night but the second night it was amended.

Room wasn’t as clean as it should be. Has potential just needs some TLC. Staff and location is good.

This is our 3rd time at the Sotel and usually we are so happy with our stay! Unfortunately, this time we were given one of the ground floor rooms, which were much older than the upstairs rooms and could do with a urgent makeover. The beds were comfy as usual, but we had a tiny window that went out into a square of walls. The shower/ bathroom we were really unhappy, the shower was broken and the water sprayed out the back of the shower head with more pressure than the actual shower, along with no suitable drainage for the shower to drain into, so we were left everyday with a soaking wet bathroom floor, that the towels couldn’t even soak. We did report this twice and asked for extra towels to clean but this wasn’t actioned. We did ask if we could change to another room, but were told they were fully booked, even though the ‘rooms available’ was lit in the window. Luckily we are both good sleepers as all 3 nights there was loud music that sounded like it was next door, this went on into the early morning, it was annoying but we did manage to ignore it, a light sleeper would not have been able to block it out. We were really disappointed as both other times we have had a great stay, clean and tidy, which is why we chose to book again. I’m not sure we will be back due to this inconvenience, we felt very forgotten considering this was our 3rd year here. If you are staying here I would call ahead to make sure you are not in rooms 600\700. Our room was 601.

Heat did not work. Definitely not the room in picture. Staff was courteous and friendly. Fire escape door sealed. They gave us a portable heater for our room. A plus.

Very small room. Be aware of stepping up into bathroom, as I fell and cut my arm. Close to train station.

I want to start off by saying the location was perfect, very conveniently located to everything. However, upon arrival, I find out that the elevator doesn’t work, and the receptionist didn’t even offer to help with the luggage’s. I had two luggage's that I needed to carry up two floors. Then, when I arrived to my room, the second you open the door the room reeks of a sewer smell. Given the price you pay for this property, more professionalism and cleanliness is expected. Another issue I had was that the heater would not heat up, it would only blow cold air.

Staff was friendly and super helpful. Older building. Great location

Sadly this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, in my life and spoiled my time in Amsterdam.It was convenient for the station but there is nothing else to say . It was so expensive and certainly does not warrant the rating given on the Expedia website.

Small rooms , very noisy

Absolutely horrible hotel. Arrived in my room smelling so strong of sewer and had to go back to the check in and ask for a room change. Sorry we have no other rooms was there answer. No offer to help or anything. Had to try and sleep in that filth. Never will I stay here again or recommend to anyone.

We stayed in the basement room, the stairs going down were so steep and dangerous. There were public toilets next to our room which made it feel unsafe. The light in the bathroom didn’t work. Good location though.

I did not choose this hotel on my own; a friend booked it. The only positive aspect of this hotel was its very convenient location to the train station.

Great central location with easy access to train station and walkable to main touristic area of amsterdam

It was in a good area central wise however staff was very unfriendly and our sheets were dirty. We also werent given washcloths and max. 2 towels. The room is so tiny only one person can walk around at a time. Not worth the price
