If you are eloping in NZ and taking off in a helicopter, I highly recommend booking the Edgewater, and if you can get it, premium suite #101. It was a mere 20m from our patio to the waiting helicopter, no having to drive anywhere etc.
That aside, the staff were so friendly with lots of nice personal touches noting our celebration. The refurbished rooms are tastefully decorated and spacious. Being right on the lake is beautiful and plenty of available parking. Getting into town is walkable otherwise a comfortable 5 min drive.

Loved the Edgewater Wanaka. Definitely recommend. Spacious rooms and well equipped. Loved hiring the bikes to go for a ride around the lake. Would stay again- but longer next time!

Stayed one night at Edgewater and wished we could have stayed longer. Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite a d had everything we needed including washer dryer machine. Great views out across lawn and short walk to lake. Will stay next time we visit for sure!

Wow! What a magical place Edgewater is. I came to relax and as soon as i walked in I felt calm.
The restaurant has fabulous food, from breakfast to dinner. Sitting outside up on the hill and looking down at the lake was my favourite. The grounds are just lovely.
The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They even offered to carry my bags to my room.
The walk around the lake was absolutely beautiful.
I would highly recommend a stay here.

outdated property. not well suited for colder months. we were in 1211 and had to have every heater blasting at full heat for it to be remotely bearable.

While we loved the location and outlook of this property; we were disappointed with aspects of the room. They were visibly old in parts and noisy (poor insulation) which meant we were kept awake by people above and besides us and walking on the external steps. We also had a long wait (well beyond the check-in time) to be able to check-in to our room, despite being told we would be able to check-in early. For the price of this accommodation, the overall experience and condition of the hotel was disappointing.

Carpet not finished along ranch slider wall
Expected more for $500 per night.
Also room was $450 per night not incuding gst do was actually $500 per night.

The new upgraded rooms are excellent. The property is on the lake for great walks and minutes away from the famous Wanaka tree in the lake. The staff in the restaurant were awesome and the food/wines were fantastic. It's located minutes away from downtown and in a great neighborhood. Everything was great.
