We stayed at Santa Rosa for 1 night. Our room was very spacious, clean and cozy with tons of natural light and a lovely view of a main street. The private bathroom was clean. The bed and pillows were wonderfully comfortable (a rarity in Peru as our 3 other guesthouses had terribly hard beds and bad pillows). The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great for exploring all the interesting spots in Lima, and just one block from the main square. This came with a drawback, though, as the street Santa Rosa is on is VERY noisy well into the evening, especially on weekends. Our room overlooked this street and was very noisy even with all the windows closed. Luckily by 11pm things quieted down considerably. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Santa Rosa, but make sure to pack earplugs.

it is a warn out property fairly priced. No A/C. The room never cooled. Fans made sleep possible. A good breakfast and a good staff. You will not hanf out in your room - too uncomfortable.

I booked a room with a shared bathroom because I wasn't certain I was going to be able to occupy the room. It was very reasonably priced. The room is in a very old house which has been made in a hotel (of sorts). The room smelled because the only window was high and adjoined a foyer which was enclosed. Fresh air was in short supply! The bedroom walls were very dirty; someone had put dirty feet on them. It wouldn't have taken a lot of effort to clean off the dirty marks. No one bothered. The bathroom was okay and had hot water for showering.

Hotel is in prime location. Condition of rooms are terrible. But staff is great. I came at 7 am , and they make me room available in half an hour, during my wait they gave me complimentary breakfast. Next day I was leaving around 7am, but they open kitchen earlier so I would have my breakfast before I leave. Call taxi, made a good deal for as cost.

All of the staff was nice and helpful. I was really glad I knew some Spanish or I might have had a different opinion of the staff’s helpfulness. Breakfast was really tasty and fresh. The room for breakfast was very small but since the food was prepared for each person it was the right size for the person cooking to be able to take care. Our room had a private bathroom and three beds. The floors were in very rough shape and you needed to wear shoes. The place was very simple. Its location was perfect for us we wanted to be right in the heart of the historic district of Lima and it was. This is a place you don’t want to be out after dark at. The front door of the hotel was kept locked and there was someone at the front desk 24/7 reasonable security for the location. I must say I was glad we were only there for 2 nights.

Pros - -location, location, location, for exploring central Lima this is great, only one block from the Plaza de Armas, Cathedral de Lima, Governors Palace, museums, restaurants, etc. - staff spoke English and was extremely helpful - cool view from the rooftop patio - family room was spacious and comfortable Cons - - rooms overlooking the lobby are loud, and some have shared bathrooms - there was some sketchy activity going on around the hostel - far away from Miraflores and typical tourist areas - the towels and toilet paper were low quality Overall a great low cost option if you want to stay in central Lima. We moved from a hotel in Miraflores that was twice as expensive and much preferred this hostel and location. It isn't fancy but great for the price and location.
