The staff at The Killawasi Lodge were very profesional and provided exvellent customer service throughout our stay. The rooms were large, very comfortable and clean for our family of three. The location in the small village of Yanque was good for hiking in the Colca Canyon and near to thermal springs. Killawasi Lodge offered a free guided hike every afternoon which was fun and informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

When we arrived we were already sick and we left we were still sick. We spent most of our 3 night stay recovering in bed. Despite this, the lodge was still our favourite place we stayed in Peru. The staff, particularly Orlando and Jose were very friendly, helpful and professional. They helped arrange a doctor to come and see us. We ate most of our meals at the Quinoa restaurant at the lodge and were impressed with the quality of the food, particularly the guacamole.

Freddy, Orlando and Jose we’re enthusiaatic, warm and welcoming and did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. Unfortunately, the power to our room short-circuited during our first night, making for a chilly night. But Orlando identified and fixed the problem the next day and we experienced no further power outages. The restaurant is beautifully appointed and offers an array of tasty menu choices beautifully presented. The staff is eager to make your stay pleasant and offers daily guided activities including a 30-minute hike to soak in nearby hot springs and a hike to the well preserved Uyo Uyo ruins. Taxis are available for further away excursions in the beautiful Colca Valley. Rooms are simple, spacious and beautifully appointed and include a balcony or patio to relax, enjoy a book or the spectacular surrounding scenery, and/or imbibe in an afternoon cocktail. We especially appreciated the staff’s helpfulness with printing our boarding passes and coordinating communication with our tour company.

We booked this hotel for while we were exploring the Colca Canyon and viewing the Condors. We did not regret our stay at all. We found this hotel to be very relaxing and quiet. What was nice is the hosts would take care of any requests you had regarding tours and taxis. This enabled us to not have to bother with making any arrangements at all. The restaurant was never crowded as there are only 15 or so rooms which made dinner completely stress free (breakfast as well). We liked the fact that breakfast was included and it gave us a quick start to the day. The rooms were nicer than we were expecting and the grounds were well kept. We enjoyed walking around he town as it was very quiet and easy to navigate. The hot springs are not that far from the hotel and there is a map available to guide you there. We preferred the hot springs in Chivay though as they were shaded and a little bit more developed.

We had a great stay at Killawasi Lodge. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a great one. They even do a daily guided hike through the canyon from the hotel. We decided to go on an earlier hike by ourselves because of the weather so they drew us a map showing all the places we wanted to go. The restaurants in town are very limited but the hotel's restaurant provides a nice selection of Peruvian foods. I personally really enjoyed the Chupa de Quinoa. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Colca Canyon.

The owner, Guillermo, empowers his staff to exceed expectations -- they are extremely responsive, friendly, and accommodating, prepared to adapt to unforeseen issues to solve them quickly and wonderfully. They have excellent English and respond to email and phone inquiries promptly and fully. They arranged our tour from Puno to their lodge, into Colca Canyon and onto Arequipa, making it very easy for us to stay at Killawasi for two days and two nights, to enjoy hikes in the surrounding hills and terraces, views of the snow capped active volcanos, the charming small town of Yanque, relaxing in the hammocks, thermal baths nearby, and a horseback riding tour they arranged for us (be sure to confirm that the guide speaks English). From all information we gathered, this is the best place to stay in the Chivay/Yanque area. The rooms are large, with private balconies and modern bathrooms with plentiful hot water. The hotel's restaurant is a bit upscale without being prohibitive, well exectuted, and you can feel comfortable eating the salads.. what more could one want?

The whole area is well landscaped and has its own resident mocking bird. Their free guided hike to the ruins is good. Owner speaks fluent English and arranged Mirador del Condor trip each with Agotur Colca. We caught our own taxi from Chivay to Yanque where our 4M express bus dropped us off from Puno. After the condor trip, we walked to the plaza , caught a taxi and drove to Cabanaconde and hiked a couple of kilometers on the trail to Tapay oasis. Great views and we had a nice time for the 150soles we had paid the driver. We engaged the same driver for 15 soles for the next day drop to Chivay to catch our bus to Arequipa. My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights and wished we could've stayed longer. We were pleasantly surprised by every element of the lodge. The room was beautiful, and immaculate. The view was absolutely incredible. You look right over fields, with wandering llamas and sheep into the Colca Valley. The manager (owner?) was really helpful and booked us cabs, trekking, trips to the hot springs, and to Cruz el Condor, all on short notice. The guides for trekking and the condor trip were both great. Everything we had at the restaurant was delicious, we ate dinner there both nights, and the included breakfast spread starts at 6 am, so you can eat before heading out. It's a bit secluded, Yanque is really small, but we liked that, and were glad we stayed there rather than in the larger Chivay.

We had a fantastic two-night stay at Killiwasi. The meals were consistently tasty (huge portions for the price), and while the menu is probably limited for a multi-night stay, we never ate the same thing twice. The staff was friendly and multi-lingual, and the complimentary hike to the ruins and hot springs was a wonderful perk. The rooms are spacious, clean, and there was ample hot water. This place is a gem--it's a bit of an oasis in the surrounding landscape, but I would receive men's it to anyone looking for a few peaceful days in Yanque.
