Your Travel Guide to Pasay as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Pasay from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is the most common method. NAIA is located in Pasay itself, making it incredibly convenient. You can often find affordable flights if you book flight tickets in advance, with fares from major hubs like Cebu or Davao typically ranging from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and airline.

If you are traveling from nearby provinces or regions accessible by land, bus travel is a cost-effective option. Numerous bus terminals in Pasay serve routes from Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, and even some parts of the Visayas (via ferry connections). Bus fares can range from PHP 500 to PHP 1,500, depending on the origin city and the type of bus service. The journey can take several hours, so factor this into your travel plans.

Driving to Pasay is also an option for those coming from Luzon. Major expressways like the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) connect to Pasay via various arterial roads. Toll fees will apply, and depending on your starting point, the total cost can vary. Navigating Metro Manila traffic requires patience, but it offers flexibility for those who prefer to travel with their own vehicle.

Best Time to Visit Pasay

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Pasay is no exception. The dry season, generally from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 35°C.

The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by higher humidity and frequent rainfall, often in the form of short, intense downpours. While this period might see fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, it's wise to pack an umbrella and be prepared for occasional disruptions to outdoor plans. Traveling during the shoulder months of November or April can offer a good balance of favorable weather and fewer tourists.

For Filipino travelers, understanding these seasonal patterns helps in planning a trip that aligns with personal preferences for weather and crowd levels. Whether you prefer the sunshine of the dry season or the cooler, albeit wetter, conditions of the rainy months, Pasay offers attractions and experiences year-round.

Food and Dining Near Pasay — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No visit to the Philippines is complete without indulging in Adobo, the unofficial national dish. This savory and tangy stew, typically made with chicken or pork braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and black peppercorns, is a staple in Filipino households and restaurants. You can find excellent versions in many eateries around Pasay, offering a comforting taste of home.

Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, is another must-try. Its distinct sourness comes from ingredients like tamarind, guava, or calamansi, combined with meat (pork, beef, fish, or shrimp) and various vegetables. It’s a refreshing dish, especially on a warm day, and its complex flavor profile is a true representation of Filipino culinary ingenuity.

For a taste of grilled perfection, try Inihaw na Liempo (grilled pork belly). Marinated and grilled over charcoal, the pork belly becomes wonderfully tender and smoky, often served with a side of soy-vinegar dipping sauce. It’s a popular choice for casual dining and gatherings, embodying the Filipino love for grilled meats.

Don't leave Pasay without trying Halo-Halo, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This iconic treat is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It’s a colorful and refreshing way to end a meal, offering a symphony of textures and sweet flavors that are uniquely Filipino.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Pasay

Filipinos are known for their hospitality and respect for elders. When interacting with locals, a polite demeanor and a friendly smile go a long way. It's customary to use "po" and "opo" when speaking to elders or those in authority as a sign of respect. Understanding these basic cultural nuances will enhance your interactions.

When it comes to safety in Pasay, like any urban center, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded areas. Avoid displaying expensive items openly and be cautious of unsolicited offers from strangers. Stick to well-lit and populated areas, particularly at night. For emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911.

For seamless travel, having a few essential apps on your smartphone is highly recommended. Ride-sharing apps like Grab are indispensable for convenient and relatively affordable transportation around Metro Manila. You can also use navigation apps like Google Maps to help you find your way around the city and estimate travel times.

Consider downloading a currency converter app if you plan to shop or dine extensively, and a translation app can be helpful if you encounter situations where communication is a barrier, though English is widely spoken in Metro Manila. These tools can significantly simplify your experience and help you navigate Pasay with greater ease and confidence.

For p1800/night I think it 's quite expensive as room was really budget interior and quite dark. Then wifi is so difficult to connect and every person has their own individual code that has to be entered each time for few times before connected (“your session run out …”, “please contact front desk …” Too many excuses) and can only be access to 1 device ONLY. For p1200 I wouldn't mind but for p1800? Nope.

The room that we stayed at the 6th floor is decent and clean (cleanliness:10/10). The unique design of a bed near the ceiling is a first for us and the air conditioner faces directly towards our head(bed comfort: 8/10). The living room which is below us is clean and it has a comfortable couch although it tends to sink down a little. The tv has lots of channels and it has above ok video quality (entertainment functionality:9/10). It has a sink that has cold water to wash your things and it has 2 mugs. The comfort room is very small, comfortable for 1 person only (comfort room:6/10). It has 2 towels, a hand soap, and a 2-in-1 body and hair wash. Tooth brush and toothpaste were not provided (toiletries:6/10). Overall (7/10).

Nope.

The accommodation is quite good but the location of the hotel is very bad. You can hear every vehicles passing the road. I booked 2 nights but I didn't get a single hour of a good sleep. And please remove also the 50 % corkage on the brought up foods.

The room was okay but the sofa was a bit not comfortable. Restroom was okay since it was too small. The service was good and it was very good that they have free water that the guests can consume.
