We have tried other places in Cabanatuan but always return to Acropolis North. The staff remember us and treat us like VIP's. The security is tight so we feel safe. The pool is amazing, especially for kids since it has slides and water fountains. The beds were firm and very comfortable, and the linens were clean and fresh. The TV has cable with many channels to choose from. Besides the bath towels, it would have been nice to also have hand towels, but they provide shampoo, lotion and soap, so that was nice. There is hot water in both the sink and shower. The complimentary breakfast was really good, and there were several options to choose from. We also had dinner and ordered the stuffed squid, which was very good. And they gave us a complimentary side dish of calamari as well! We will definitely return here the next time we're in Cabanatuan City.

Your Travel Guide to Cabanatuan City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Cabanatuan City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Cabanatuan City from Manila is a common route for many Filipinos. The most popular and economical method is by bus. Numerous bus companies operate daily trips from terminals in Metro Manila, such as Cubao and Pasay. The journey typically takes around 4 to 5 hours, depending on traffic conditions, with fares generally ranging from PHP 300 to PHP 500.

For those who prefer to fly, the nearest airport is typically Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga, or Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. From these airports, you would then need to take a bus or arrange for private transport to Cabanatuan City. While flying might be faster to reach the general region, the subsequent land travel makes the direct bus option often more convenient for reaching Cabanatuan itself. You can book flight tickets to these airports well in advance for better rates.

Driving your own vehicle offers the most flexibility. The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) connect to the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), which can then lead you towards Cabanatuan via provincial roads. The drive from Manila is approximately 100-120 kilometers and can take around 3 to 4 hours, depending on your starting point and adherence to speed limits.

Best Time to Visit Cabanatuan City

Cabanatuan City experiences a tropical climate, characterized by warm temperatures throughout the year. The dry season, generally from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather for outdoor activities, with lower chances of rain and slightly cooler temperatures, especially in the early months. This period is ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings without the interruption of heavy downpours.

The wet season typically runs from May to October. During these months, expect higher humidity and more frequent rainfall, which can sometimes be intense but often short-lived. While this season might deter some outdoor plans, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation rates, offering a different kind of travel experience for those who don't mind occasional rain.

For the best balance of good weather and manageable crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or February. These periods often provide sunny days perfect for enjoying the local attractions and the hotel's pool facilities, while avoiding the peak holiday rush. Regardless of when you visit, Cabanatuan City welcomes travelers with its characteristic warmth.

Food and Dining Near Cabanatuan City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Nueva Ecija is complete without sampling its local culinary delights. A must-try is the Batutay Longganisa, a sweet and garlicky native sausage that is a breakfast staple and a popular pasalubong (souvenir food). You can find this delicious treat in local markets and some restaurants, often served grilled with a side of rice and egg.

Another local specialty is the Puto Bumbong, though more commonly associated with Christmas, variations can be found year-round in some eateries. This steamed purple rice cake, cooked in bamboo tubes and served with butter, grated coconut, and muscovado sugar, offers a unique texture and a subtly sweet flavor profile that many Filipinos adore.

For a taste of hearty Filipino comfort food, try the Kare-Kare, a rich stew made with oxtail, tripe, and vegetables in a thick peanut sauce, typically served with bagoong (fermented shrimp paste). While available nationwide, regional variations often add a distinct local touch. Many restaurants in Cabanatuan City offer their own take on this beloved dish.

Don't forget to explore the local versions of classic Filipino dishes like Adobo and Sinigang. Each eatery might have its own secret ingredient or cooking method, offering a chance to discover new favorite flavors. Exploring the local carinderias (small eateries) and markets is the best way to find authentic and affordable meals that showcase the region's culinary heritage.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Cabanatuan City

Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and Cabanatuan City is no exception. A friendly "Magandang umaga/hapon/gabi" (Good morning/afternoon/evening) goes a long way when interacting with locals. Respecting local customs, such as dressing modestly when visiting religious sites like the St. Nicholas of Tolentine Cathedral, is appreciated.

When it comes to safety, Cabanatuan City is generally a safe place for travelers. However, it's always wise to exercise standard precautions: be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, keep your valuables secure, and avoid displaying expensive items. If you encounter any issues, local emergency numbers are readily available through the police and local government units.

For seamless travel, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are widely used. If you plan on using ride-hailing services or booking local transport, ensure you have the relevant apps installed. Having a local SIM card can also be beneficial for data access and local calls.

Pros-Staff are welcoming and accomodating. Rooms are spacious though- we've got double bed, queen size beds. Aircon working fine. Pools are nice. Food are good. Price is reasonable. Cons-Hotel rooms, especially bathroom, need updating. Hot and cold shower not working well. There are lots of nature (flowering plants mostly) around hotel, hence, expect some insects and frogs around. Far from roadside, hence, transportation is a bit difficult unless you have a private car.

We arrived at dusk and kids immediately headed to the waterpark (which was better than we expected). They loved it and it took us hours to get them out. The room condition was a little beat up and tired but it was made up for how friendly and helpful the staff was. The breakfast in the morning was also very good. We would stay again.

The place is ok, but the service is so bad! Probably my worst hotel experience. We paid for an extra person during our stay however, they did not give us an extra towel, and drinks or even toiletries. The room we reserved was good for 4 persons, but they only provided 2 sets of toiletries, breakfast, water. No service water available. Coffee was served an hour after ordering. Front desk receptionist on duty was very non-accommodating. Will DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. Bad experience overall

The place is very relaxing surrounded by trees and ornamental plants and flowering scrubs. Pool is clean and food is available at the cafeteria.

The place is hard to find at night due to lack of lighted signage.

Our stay is okay, rooms are comfortable. My concern is the WiFi in the booking site it says that there’s WiFi but when we got in the room theres none. They did not inform us that the connections is only available in the reception area.
