Aiyanar Resort a hidden treasure.
I made a last minute booking here as we had a string of holidays coming up as we had the Asean meet here in the city and we had a few days holiday. But i was wary to go on a dive trip as the weather has not been that cooperative. There was a low presssure coming up and we expected some rains. Anyway i did book through Agoda and Aiyanar was the only one left with a 4-5 star rating. And there 3 rooms left so I chanced it and confirmed my booking through Agoda. Anyhow the weather turned perfect. I was not disappointed except that the resort was hilly and my room was on a higher elevation. I had expected more divers to come in ....but they were in a big group and they have chartered the entire boat,,and again the same for a serious underwater couple who had booked the entire boat to themselves and did not want to be disturbed while taking their photos. So I had to pay for the entire dive boat myself which had cost me P8,000 for two dives which is rather expensive as it could have been divided if there were more divers that joined me. I was extremely happy with the accomodations and staff. The rooms were almost brand new and very well maintained. And the other divers i met were all friendly. Some came all the way from Florida and would have stayed for two weeks to take in the beauty of Anilao. As Anilao is famous for its macrophotography opportonuties. Too bad the AEE i brought with me which is a Go Pro clone flooded and was the first time i took it diving with me. Its underwater housing was probably defective so I was extremely crushed. As I had paid too much for the dive as i was the lone diver that day and secondly my brand new camera was destroyed. Anyhow i still did try to enjoy myself with the generous luxurious rooms and the wonderstaff and its excellent dive instructor and staff. The house reefs had poor visibility that day as there was a landslide and has muddied up the water close to the shore. There was practically zero visibility even for snorkeling. The food was ample and delicious and fresh. And the staff was extremely friendly. I would definitely come back here as the grounds were excellently designed with a thai theme to it. Even the infinity pool was was good for just chilling around. Its also good for non divers. As there are snorkeling trips and the boat ride was not too far. There were at least a group of 30 with hardly any divers but just families and friends bonding together. The facilities are excellent and the staff was great. Even the food is great....

Recently stayed in this resort with my wife. I must say, it exceeded our expectations. Staff: they were very courteous and had a typical filipino hospitality. We were immediately brought to our room (since there were a few guests that weekend) Room: surprisingly nice. Comfortable bed Food: was good. We availed of the full board meal (option for breakfast only is available) and was served family style. Dive shop: very good services and dive masters! Wifi: weak to no wifi inside the room, only in public places (bummer). We will definitely go back here very very soon!

Excellent week at Aiyanar - in spite of the weather!
After a week in Yap, Micronesia, my husband and I went to Aiyanar for a week of diving in Anilao. We were picked up in a van at the international airport in Manila for the 3 ½ hour drive south to Aiyanar. The resort is small, personal and beautiful. The pool and dining areas are beautiful with stunning views. There is building/remodeling work going on so it was sometimes noisy during the day (some weather-related – see below). The rooms are neat and clean. My only issue with our room was that there was very little storage for clothes so we essentially “lived” out of our luggage for the week. As it turns out, my husband and I were the only guests for the week we were at Aiyanar. Service was impeccable. For us, all meals were made to order. Breakfast was traditional American. Because it was only us, we asked the chef to create Philippino food for lunch and dinner – left up to chef’s discretion (since we had never been to the Philippines we had never eaten real Philippino food). Each meal was a sumptuous surprise – although I cannot remember the names of most of what we were served! Be warned that spicy really is spicy. Before I get to the diving, I need to explain about the weather because it played a big role during the week. During the first 2 days of our stay, Anilao got a lot of rain (15 inches (38 cm)) and some wind from a typhoon which resulted in several landslides (the island is volcanic with steep inclines from the water). The resort was on generator power with no internet or TV for a few days. A landslide unfortunately impacted part of Aiyanar – going down the side of the resort and across the ramp to the boat house and pier to the dive boat. Getting down the stairs to the dive deck and the boat ramp was already steep – we had to navigate through a section of mud and rocks! From our perspective, the weather did not hamper the overall operation of the resort or diving. And during the week, Aiyanar staff had already cleared the way to the boat house. Now the diving: The dive deck and briefing area are open and large with lots of room to hang up and store dive gear. The camera room had lots of space. The concierge dive service – bringing our gear down from the deck into the boat and back – was great. Our dive guide was great at selecting the sites he could (since we were limited by conditions) and finding the very cool endemic critters. The entire dive staff was great! Overall, Aiyanar was a great final week to our 2-week dive vacation. We came to the Philippines and Anilao with almost no idea what to expect. We left with warm feelings, wonderful memories and plans to return soon in the hopes that the weather will cooperate.

So close, yet so far
Positioned as a high end resort and dive center in Anilao Philippines. Really run more levels me an extension of the owners house and family get away. Need to focus on customers not the owners family! Grounds are nice and facilities appear to be higher end. Dive shop appears first class and well laid out. Got sick on two of my meals there and the rooms smell damp and musty. Better places to stay in Anilao at a lower price.

Wonderful getaway
Not just a divers haven. This resort is great for family or couple trips. Offers a wide array of water fun activities. A cool outdoor bar where you can chill after a long day in or under water. A wonderful getaway not too far from the city. Nice clean rooms good selection of food. A hearty breakfast buffet. And very professional, friendly and accommodating staff!
