Your Travel Guide to Anda as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Anda from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

To reach Anda, Bohol from Manila, the most efficient method is to book a book flight to Bohol–Panglao International Airport (TAG). Several airlines operate flights from Manila to Bohol, with travel times typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book, but budget-friendly options are often available.

From Tagbilaran City, which is the main gateway to Bohol, you can take a public bus or a van to Anda. Buses are generally the most economical option, with fares typically ranging from PHP 150 to PHP 250. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours, traversing scenic provincial roads. Vans offer a slightly faster but often more cramped ride, with similar pricing.

If you are traveling from other major Philippine cities like Cebu, you can also find flights to Bohol–Panglao International Airport. Alternatively, ferry services connect Cebu City to Tagbilaran City, offering a more leisurely travel experience. From Tagbilaran, proceed with bus or van transport to Anda as described above. Driving your own vehicle is possible but involves a long journey and ferry crossings.

Best Time to Visit Anda

The dry season, from December to May, is generally considered the best time to visit Anda, Bohol. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and calmer seas, perfect for enjoying the beaches and water activities. The peak tourist season falls between December and February, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices during this period.

The wet season, from June to November, brings a higher chance of rainfall, though it often comes in short, heavy bursts rather than all-day downpours. Traveling during the shoulder months of May or November can offer a good balance, with fewer crowds and still pleasant weather. For budget-conscious travelers, the wet season might present opportunities for lower prices on accommodations and flights.

Food and Dining Near Anda — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

When in Anda, make sure to try Kinilaw, a Filipino ceviche made with fresh raw fish marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili. It's a refreshing dish that perfectly captures the coastal flavors of Bohol. You can find excellent versions at local eateries and restaurants, often prepared with the catch of the day.

Another must-try is Adobong Manok or Baboy, a classic Filipino stew simmered in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. While available throughout the Philippines, each region offers its own subtle variations. Enjoying this comforting dish in Anda provides a taste of home with a local touch.

For seafood lovers, grilled fish or other seafood specialties are abundant. Anda's proximity to the sea means you can enjoy freshly caught seafood prepared in various ways. Look for grilled tuna, squid, or prawns at local markets and restaurants for a true taste of the ocean.

Don't forget to sample local delicacies like Kalamay, a sweet delicacy made from sticky rice, coconut milk, and sugar. It’s a popular pasalubong (souvenir) item and a delightful treat to enjoy with your coffee or as a dessert. Exploring the local eateries will give you a genuine taste of Boholano cuisine.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Anda

Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and Anda is no exception. A friendly greeting like "Maayong adlaw" (Good day) goes a long way. Respect local customs, dress modestly when visiting churches or local communities, and always ask permission before taking photos of people. Understanding basic local etiquette enhances your interactions.

Anda is generally a safe place for travelers. However, it's always wise to take standard precautions: be aware of your surroundings, secure your valuables, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. For emergencies, note down the local police and hospital contact numbers, which can usually be obtained from your hotel.

For seamless travel, consider downloading essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is crucial for getting around. Ride-hailing apps might not be as prevalent in Anda as in larger cities, so having local tricycle driver contacts can be helpful. A translation app can also be useful if you wish to learn or communicate in the local dialect.

Additionally, having the Traveloka app on your phone is highly recommended. It allows you to easily manage your bookings, discover local attractions, and find dining options. This app can be your go-to resource for planning and navigating your trip in Anda and beyond, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable travel experience.

There was no water for showering or flushing the toilet on our checkout day. I had a 2 day reservation and only came on the 2nd day and i am not sure if they gave away our original room. When I called, the front desk sounded like she was not aware of my reservation. The wifi was not working at all.

The morning restaurant worker who delivered the breakfast and the lunch was the only person there that was extremely helpful. When we needed guidance on where to go and what to do as our next steps on our trip he was able to provide all the answers and help us to book the accommodations that we needed to make it seamless. The downside… The property doesn’t seem organized and they pulled a switcheroo on the rooms and wouldn’t honor the room that we paid for because it was for an occupied by somebody else. We also had to request that our room be cleaned every single night as the staff somehow did not get around to it each and every day. Internet was horrible if you’re requiring it for travel you’re in trouble at this property as its range is 3 feet and does not work in the rooms themselves. Overall nice people but just don’t have the talent to host a 30% occupancy rate very slow and service was not spot on

The place was clean, quiet, food so-so. Staff was friendly enough. Room however, lacks the basic essentials usually found in hotels, or even motels - no glasses were provided, even disposable ones, only 1 toilet paper in the bathroom. My mom has to keep asking for every little basic thing needed and the staff provides it. The hotel was supposed to anticipate its guests' needs -nothing big, just the basic. Pool was clean, facing the sea. View was great. Overall, a good getaway, could use some improvement. Chef accommodated requests to cook fresh seafoods bought from outside - that is GREATLY appreciated.

There was no water for showering or flushing the toilet on our checkout day. I had a 2 day reservation and only came on the 2nd day and i am not sure if they gave away our original room. When I called, the front desk sounded like she was not aware of my reservation. The wifi was not working at all.

I always like staying here, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Your stay includes breakfast with a nice indoor swimming pool, live music on Friday and Saturday nights, plus it’s very conveniently centrally located with easy access to the beach and town, all within walking distance

Funky place. They had live music / from 7:00 pm until midnight two of the three nights we were there. That all happened about 6 feet below our floor. We skipped the free breakfast after the first Morning ( for a good reason!)

Friday and Saturday nights can be quite loud due to live band playing in resort. We had a lovely stay here and recommend the resort to everyone.

Anda is a nice place to visit, wonderful beaches and you have to watch for rocks as you go out into the water and pair of sandals can't cure. A beautiful old church, nice business district, even a park.

We were the only guests and still they gave us a room that was very small and had a construction site half a meter from the window. There are much better places to stay in Anda.
