Probably better than other rip-off hotels in Mactan
I used to recommend Cebu to foreigners instead of Manila since they always complain about the pollution and traffic there. However, I just learned how wrong I was for recommending Cebu since I personally found the number of slums and terrible trafiic at the bridges. The metropolis area, specially Mactan is such a rip-off. The beaches you would see in the pictures are not totally the same. Those are from 5-star hotels like Shangri-la, what they have here is far from Boracay, it is much like the ones in Subic where the beaches are private-owned by resorts. There is no shore to walk on. The greediest drivers are also here. I thought I would encounter the worst in Boracay but no, these guys are the champions. Who the hell would pay Php100 for just two block away?! And if they can do that to fellow Filipinos, they would probably do worse to foreigners. The food and hotels are also very expensive. I'm not sure, maybe these people haven't traveled to other part of Visayas where there are better beaches but cheaper prices. This hotel, for the record, is not fancy but somehow better than nearby hotels. Most of their guests are Japanese and they have a staff who can fluently speak the language. The standard rooms were all booked so we were forced to choose bet. fan rooms and deluxe rooms. Since we were on the verge of exploding on how crappy Cebu is, we just chose the latter since we don't want to spend so much on a trip we didn't even enjoy. To our surprise it wasn't that hot. The bathroom is also big. Their tissue holder is rusty though and our room could do a renovation. But like I said, it's cheaper, way cheaper for a beach-front hotel who has a small pool compared to nearby hotels in Mactan. Overall, don't stay in Mactan unless you have money to book in hotels like Shangri-La.

Acceptable, but not a place for a seaside vacation
Anemone is fine for the price, remember this is the Philippines, not Europe or Japan. We had an air-con room with balcony and fridge, quiet and clean, the staff friendly. Lots of locals jumping in the pool with clothes on as is the custom, I wouldn't go in, too hard to keep it clean.... This resort is mainly a Dive Shop, Japanese come from other hotels and do their diving from Anemone. Very few guests actually sleeping in the hotel although it was Xmas. Didn't try the restaurant which had Japanese prices, ridiculous. The WiFi only works if you hang off the balcony or go very close to reception, otherwise forget it, as is the case with so many hotels. All in all the resort offers very little unless you enjoy diving but still acceptable for the money. About 10 mins walk from the hotel, there are many restaurants both to the left and right as you hit the main road. The prices are also ridiculously high because they cater exclusively to Japanese and Koreans. So probably best to avoid Lapu-Lapu if you're on any sort of budget. We went onward to Cebu City and stayed right in the center, some historic sights worth seeing and generally a decent place. Not much in the way of excitement, but it's a big city with lots of malls where at least you can get a decent meal for a fair price. Probably there are many great beach areas not too far from the city, if we return we'll look for a place like that. All in all, Anemone is OK, especially if you are Japanese or Korean and enjoy diving!

Never go back
Disgusting the fan room is bad smell, toilet bowl has damage, tissue holder made of wire with rust.Staff are not cleaning our room everyday i have to call them to clean our room. Foods are expensive unreasonableprice, tasteless, the pool looks dirty we did not see they cleaned the pool and their Korean, Japanese, Chinese practising there snorkelling everyday on pool. Aircon room breakfast is not included unlike other hotels breakfast included of the room rate. This is not beach this is harbor, beach has lot of sea weeds, sea orchin and smelly we did not enjoy our stay here we regreted to stay in this resort.Be careful of your belongings when you arrive in this hotel because our bag content passport of my fiance and some valuable things was stolen when we jump off by trycyle, until now we didn't know who stole our bag.I swear we never go back here again, worst resort ever!!!

won't go back
Arrived at the airport, flipped the phonebook, first thing I saw. Called and took a cab to go there, wasn't too happy. It doesn't look or feel clean. we asked for an a/c room, when we go there couldn't stomach the fact that we will pay more than a thousand for a room that looks like it, transferred to a fan room just to pass the night. the pool was ok though...just can't get the memory of the trash bin on the washbasin. didn't go anywhere near it, used bottled water to brush my teeth.
