The climate in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, like much of the Philippines, is tropical. The dry season, generally from November to May, is considered the peak tourist season. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and exploring the island's natural attractions. The sea is typically calmer, and the weather is most conducive to outdoor enjoyment.

This period attracts the largest crowds, so expect more people at popular spots and potentially higher accommodation prices. If you prefer a more serene atmosphere and are looking for a comfortable mid-range stay, booking in advance is recommended.

The wet season, from June to October, brings occasional rainfall, which can range from light showers to heavier downpours. However, it's important to note that even during the wet season, it doesn't usually rain all day, and there are often plenty of sunny periods in between. Food and Dining Near Santa Fe, Bantayan Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Bantayan Island, and Santa Fe in particular, is renowned for its incredibly fresh seafood, a direct bounty from the surrounding waters. One dish that truly embodies this is the **Kinilaw**. This is the Filipino version of ceviche, where raw fish (often tuna or tanigue) is "cooked" in vinegar, typically spiced with ginger, onions, chili peppers, and sometimes calamansi. The tanginess of the vinegar cuts through the richness of the fish, creating a refreshing and zesty appetizer or light meal.

You'll find excellent kinilaw at local eateries and even some resorts, often prepared with the catch of the day, ensuring peak freshness.

Another must-try is **Grilled Seafood**. Given the island's proximity to the sea, grilled fish, squid, and prawns are staples. Imagine succulent fish, marinated in a simple blend of soy sauce, calamansi, garlic, and pepper, then grilled over charcoal until perfectly tender and slightly smoky. This preparation highlights the natural flavor of the seafood. Many local carinderias and restaurants along the coast offer this, often served with a side of rice and a dipping sauce of soy sauce, vinegar, and chili.

It’s a simple yet deeply satisfying meal that captures the essence of island dining.

For those who enjoy something a bit more substantial, **La Paz Batchoy** is a hearty noodle soup that, while originating from Iloilo, has found a warm reception and excellent renditions across the Philippines, including Bantayan. This rich pork-based broth is filled with noodles, pork offal, shrimp, and vegetables, topped with crispy pork cracklings (chicharon). It’s a comforting and flavorful dish, perfect for a cooler evening or when you need a filling meal.

You can often find good versions at local eateries in Santa Fe town proper.

Don't leave Bantayan Island without trying **Halo-Halo**, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This iconic treat is a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream, all mixed together. It’s a sweet, creamy, and refreshing way to end any meal, especially in the tropical heat. While available everywhere in the Philippines, enjoying a halo-halo on the island, perhaps with a view of the sea, adds a special touch.

Look for local spots that offer generous toppings and a good balance of flavors.

Finally, for a taste of local snacks and street food, keep an eye out for **Puto Bumbong** and **Bibingka**, especially if you are visiting during the Christmas season, though some vendors might offer them year-round. Puto Bumbong is a purple rice cake steamed in bamboo tubes, served with butter, grated coconut, and muscovado sugar. Bibingka is a baked rice cake cooked in clay pots lined with banana leaves, topped with salted egg, cheese, and grated coconut.

These traditional delicacies offer a unique flavor and texture that are deeply ingrained in Filipino culinary heritage.

Food was good and prepared well. The room I got was clean. Staffs are accommodating and friendly. I rented Bike for 150php for the whole day. The whole resort is clean and pleasing to the eye. IG Friendly . Beach is clean. Quiet and peaceful (5⭐). Reasonable price rates. Babalik ako soonest.

The resort texted us a day before check in. Free shuttle to and from the port. They allowed us to check in as early as 8am but their standard check in/out is 2pm to 12nn. Super plus for that. Bedroom and the whole resort was quite new. Modern style. Thumbs down for the poor wifi and bad smell of water (bathroom water). Wasnt able to eat in their resto since me and my husband went to MJ Square for food trip. But prices where okay. Tricycle is very much accessible in this resort.

The ambience, the food, the beach, the staffs - they’re all so great. The price paid are all worth it. We will definitely come back and would recommend to friends!

I love the place it's located close to the beach and it has its own swimming pool with life guards on the look out. The location is also accessible to the port if it happens you need to catch an early trip back to Hagnaya. What I like less is how the rooms are made, they are made of that cargo container. It gets a little warmer when its almost noon until the sunset. But overall it was a nice stay. Staffs were very warm and accommodating too!

Room was clean. place was quiet. Staffs were really nice and friendly. Just 2 things that we didn't like was some of their food example their seafood yangchow was bad and the chopsuey was overcook and it didn't taste good. We didn't manage to finish that meal. The operation hours of the restaurant caused us to starve as well since they don't offer food after midnight. We had to wait til 6:30am

It wasn’t a memorable experience but it was ok. The room was very pricey so I expected a bigger room than what we got. Also, the tv had no other channels I’d expect we’d pay a lot for the room we would get more channels like sky cable. Their wifi is also very slow and you have no signal inside the room so I also cant use my data inside. A lot of things can be improved and hopefully this review will help other people. I would not recommend most people to stay here, I’m sure there are more affordable and nicer resorts in Bantayan.

The resort is only few minutes away from the port and they offer free shuttle service. We stayed at the garden room which is just few walks to the beach (if you're in budget and dying to have beach view, this will do). Still a nice place to stay at the balcony, you can still hear the beach waves. You can do early check in as long as there is an available room (we checked in at 9AM). We arrived at the hotel at 6AM and they have a waiting area, we slept there to get some rest til 9AM before we get to have our rooms. You can swim at the beach til late at night. The swimming pool is heated. The resort's beach front is perfect for sunset with right amount of beach chairs. We rented a motorcycle to tour around the island for 350php only will full tank.

It was my 5th time in Bantayan and for the 1st 4 visits, I've been staying in a different resort. I took a chance with Anika knowing that it's twice more expensive compared to the one I frequently visit. The customer service is beyond great! The staff is very friendly and really customer-oriented. The food was superb too!
