I was skeptical of astrotel from the beginning. The surrounding area isn’t the best. But after staying there for 3 weeks I can honestly tell you it’s one of my top 5 best experiences In my lifestyle of constant traveling. The price was incredible, but the part that really put it over the top for me was the customer service. The staff is amazing especially the front desk staff. I will stay there again and I highly recommend it. It is very safe and secure and even though the outside neighborhood is questionable I never had a worry for my belongings inside. Awesome parking for my motor and I highly recommend.

Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For the most convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila is the most common method. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offer frequent flights to Manila from various provincial capitals. Fares can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 6,000 or more, depending on the origin and booking time. From NAIA, you can take a taxi, a ride-sharing service, or the airport bus to reach Quezon City, with travel times varying from 45 minutes to over two hours due to traffic. Consider booking your flight well in advance for better rates.

If you are traveling from nearby provinces in Luzon, bus travel is a practical and economical option. Major bus terminals like Cubao, Pasay, and Kamuning serve numerous routes connecting to Quezon City. Bus fares typically range from PHP 400 to PHP 1,000, depending on the distance and bus company. The journey can take anywhere from 3 to 8 hours.

For those driving their own vehicles, major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect to Metro Manila's road network, leading into Quezon City. Toll fees will apply, and travel time is highly dependent on traffic conditions.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Quezon City is no exception. The dry season, from November to April, generally offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. Temperatures are warm, and rainfall is less frequent, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. Peak tourist season often falls during the Christmas holidays and the summer months of March to May, when you might encounter larger crowds and slightly higher accommodation prices.

The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by higher humidity and regular rainfall, sometimes in the form of heavy downpours. While this period might see fewer tourists, it also offers a more relaxed atmosphere and potentially lower prices for flights and hotels. If you don't mind occasional rain showers, visiting during the wet season can still be very rewarding, with lush greenery and fewer crowds.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City is a culinary hotspot, offering a diverse range of Filipino dishes. You absolutely must try **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish, featuring meat (usually chicken or pork) braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. Its savory and tangy profile is a true representation of Filipino home cooking. For a taste of something richer, **Kare-Kare** is a must. This oxtail and vegetable stew in a thick, peanut-based sauce, typically served with bagoong (shrimp paste), offers a unique and comforting flavor.

Another essential dish to sample is **Sinigang**, a sour and savory soup, most commonly made with tamarind broth and pork, beef, or fish, along with various vegetables. Its distinct sourness is incredibly refreshing. For those who enjoy grilled flavors, **Lechon Manok** (roasted chicken) or **Inihaw na Liempo** (grilled pork belly) are local favorites, often marinated and grilled to perfection, offering smoky and succulent bites. You can find excellent versions of these dishes in local carinderias (eateries) and established restaurants throughout Quezon City.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals, a polite demeanor and a smile go a long way. It's customary to use "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or those in authority as a sign of respect. While generally safe, like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly.

For emergencies, the general emergency number in the Philippines is 911. It's also helpful to have the contact details of your hotel and the local police precinct readily available. When using public transport, be mindful of your belongings. For seamless navigation and communication, consider downloading essential apps. Grab is indispensable for ride-hailing and food delivery, while Google Maps is crucial for getting around.

I had the most pleasant stay at this affordable VIP rooms. The staffs are kind to assist and accommodate us. The room is clean. The bathroom is not clogged. I love that it has hot and cold shower. The aircon need at least 15 minutes before cooling up. I love how spacious the place is. Don't ever book. Me and my friend just checked out from this f****** hotel at 11PM! First impression is funny, everything is space. But the elevator smells so bad. No blanket. The hallway is creepy and also the room. I haven't even finished taking bath bcs it was creepy. And when I turned on the tv it was automatically playing inappropriate video that I didn't want to see. Me and my friend packed all stuff then just went out the f****** hotel. Please don't book.

I have already checked in upon arrival to the hotel and told them I'm expecting my friend late at night. I went out in the afternoon and returned to the hotel with my friend. The staff did not allow us to check in since he said the other guest is a minor. I explained to them that it is not in the fine print and the hotel's policy is not available online. Whilst we presented IDs and other evidence to support the reason for the stay at the hotel, it took us more than 1 hour to settle everything and finally allowed us to enter. The customer service representative on the line also was not helpful at all and focused on explaining their internal process which is none of my business.

Just not good for traveler, esp solo traveler. Or maybe just not my type of place to stay because uncomfortable in many things. Lightening in the receptionist so low (eventhough it’s because of their concept), the background on the wall almost fell, need to ask the staff for charger port, need to give and ask keys to receptionist when we are going out, no tissue in the toilet, no soot to hang my clothes. Just a quite big room with nothing special in it. Also tv channel not good, even welcoming me with sex movie when I turn it on, for 3 days there's like only couple(s) come to this hotel. I felt so “weird” to be there eventhough i’m a guest. And last, we can’t leave our luggage after check-out. They didn't accept it when I ask to leave my luggage even for 20minute. But the guard and some staff kind enough to help.

No electrical socket where you can charge phone or laptop. I needed to go to Starbucks just to charge as in seriously this hotel has no electrical socket. One more thing, the ac seems like a blower. It was the most uncomfortable stay!

As you can see, the place is a complete run down, no hot water, infested with roaches, completely dirty, I was moved to same dirty premium rooms until I gave up, I wanted to place the review so I decided to stay, but I would highly recommend to stay away from this establishment, I got itches after staying here.

The room was smelly. The cr has a strong foul odor as well. The flush is also broken. Small cockroaches are everywhere.

The room smells old, aircon not clean. Dusty. No electrical outlet for charging gadgets/phones. Also the picture does not match the actual room. In the photo there is table and chair for premium rooms, actual room, None!

I had the most pleasant stay at this affordable VIP rooms. The staffs are kind to assist and accommodate us. The room is clean. The bathroom is not clogged. I love that it has hot and cold shower. The aircon need at least 15 minutes before cooling up. I love how spacious the place is. The foam and mattress are clean and no cockroaches roaming around which I really love for a affordable price hotel around metro. 💯

This hotel has a good location, but I couldn't turn off the lights completely without also turning off the aircondition.

The electricity is constantly switching on and off every minute. I am not even exaggerating. 2nd is that there are no plug sockets available in the room which is absurd. Except dor the aircon and tv sockets. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I was asked to sit first and wait to be called. But so many new costumers were accommodate who came late than me. I arrived at the hotel ahead of the time but I was the one who was entertained last. Unfair.

The room smells smoke! No complimentary water or even a small bottle of shampoo! Expectation vs. Reality. You can't even charge your phone! Wtf. I will not come back here. I'm so disappointed!
