Notes for independent travellers, not for groups (this is a dive hotel)
This review is for independent traveller , for persons in a group they will get different treatment.
This hotels main income comes from groups, for that group other reviews already posted a fair and do a good job, I agree with them.
Our problem/mistakes are two.
First we stayed to long 11 days that we shortened to 10days, for which we did not get a refund for that day.
Second, we where unlucky that a group of 30 person arrived and the last of the independent divers left, after half the stay.Results, the resort went from a good resort, good service, nice dives to what happened when the other group arrive!
My name, which had been put on the dive board with one group all the time before the new group of 30 arrived, was written on the side of the board with a ? after it.
For the next few days moved from one group to another, not just each day but different groups in the same day.
I had the new problem of remembering what the dive master looked like this dive, this can be a big problem in a group of six diver. When the group changes after lunch, then different groupS the next day.
This problem did not happen with “groups of 30” as they always dived in the same group with the same divemaster.
Also, there was no pairing up of divers. As the “group” all new each other and where in pairs, there was no buddy pair for me? I think I should have taken “dive on your own “ course!!!!!!
The next result was that I did a number of site twice, some I think three time. Atlantic did not trace the dives I did, in terms of location. I had no choice!!.
Also, the price did not help. Paid for 4star, which we got at the start. Then the group arrived, the group got priority, then they did there best with us. This included meals.
To sum up.
Groups:- good dive hotel as most of the reviews say.
Independent travellers:- when there is a group there can be a problem, when no group or only a small group, great place. As a couple on our own I think if we went to Puerto Galera again we would go to the Le Galleon which is about 500m away
Also, as a last point check the bill, we had 2 things that got on our bill that we did not have. Atlantic did remove them, but not until I said I would not pay any of the bill. Then the manager came and sorted it, the staff would not or did not have the power to sort this. All unnecessary. Happens in a lot of hotels
