The property contains a historical fort, the "Baluarte", that I believe dates from the Spanish Colonial period. This structure has a beautiful terrace that looks out on the ocean. The terrace has wonderful breezes from the ocean.

Best Time to Visit Argao

Argao, like much of Cebu, experiences a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season, generally from December to May, is considered the best time to visit for travelers who prefer sunny days and lower chances of rain, ideal for beach activities and exploring outdoor attractions. Temperatures during these months are warm and pleasant, averaging around 28-30ยฐC.

The wet season runs from June to November, characterized by more frequent rainfall, which can sometimes be heavy but often comes in short bursts. While this season might see fewer tourists, it offers a different kind of beauty, with lush greenery and potentially lower accommodation prices. For those who don't mind occasional rain showers and are looking for a more tranquil visit, the wet season can still be a rewarding time to explore Argao.

For a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the shoulder months of December and May can be particularly appealing. Regardless of when you choose to visit, Argao offers a unique charm that can be appreciated year-round. Always check the weather forecast closer to your travel dates to pack appropriately and plan your activities.

Food and Dining Near Argao โ€” What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Argao is renowned for its delicious local delicacies, and no visit is complete without trying its famous tarta. This small, sweet tart is made with a filling of coconut and sugar, encased in a delicate pastry. You can find these treats at local bakeries and markets, perfect for an afternoon snack with a cup of coffee or juice. Itโ€™s a taste of Argaoโ€™s culinary heritage in every bite.

Another must-try is Argao's galletas, a type of crisp, round biscuit often flavored with anise. These are similar to other regional biscuits but have a distinct Argao character. They are perfect for dipping in hot beverages or simply enjoying on their own. Look for them at the public market or local sari-sari stores for an authentic taste.

Beyond these specific delicacies, Argao offers a range of Filipino comfort food. Youโ€™ll find local eateries serving dishes like kinilaw (Filipino ceviche), sinugba (grilled meats and seafood), and various noodle dishes. Exploring the Argao Public Market is an excellent way to discover these local flavors, offering a variety of affordable and authentic meals. Don't shy away from trying dishes prepared by local vendors; itโ€™s often where the most genuine flavors are found.

For a more substantial meal, seek out restaurants that offer fresh seafood, a staple in coastal towns like Argao. Grilled fish, squid, and prawns are commonly featured on menus and are usually prepared with simple yet flavorful marinades. Enjoying these dishes with a side of rice and a local dipping sauce is a classic Filipino dining experience that you can easily find in Argao.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Argao

Filipino culture in Argao is characterized by warmth, hospitality, and a strong sense of community. Respect local customs by dressing modestly when visiting churches or more traditional areas. Greetings are important; a simple "Maayong adlaw" (Good day) or "Salamat" (Thank you) goes a long way. Filipinos are generally friendly and approachable, so feel free to ask for directions or recommendations.

Safety in Argao is generally good, as it is a relatively peaceful municipality. However, as with any travel, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places like the public market. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items. Ride-hailing apps like Grab are available in Cebu and can be useful for transport from the airport or within larger towns, though local tricycles are common in Argao. Hotel is on the water's edge. Used a hamock to drink a beer in the evening which was relaxing. Wish it was a hammock for 2 though. No fridge in the room but staff was so helpful storing a cake in the hotel fridge and she had cold beers for sale which was a plus. Room was basic and so was bathroom but everything was clean. Great for a one night stay for us but I need something more comfortable regarding the bed for my back for longer stays.

the place serene and beautiful, welcome by Marianne and staff, during our stay there was beautiful wedding ceremony. we received lovely breakfast and coffee. there were couple of issues, electrical outlets unsafe and away from wall. Smoke detectors were missing, and we had ants and termites in.bathroom..would come back to see again..

Nice beach front property, helpful staff. A small fridge in room would be nice.

I liked the beach as it was clean and not crowded. The staff was friendly and polite. I didn't like the limited places to dine and places to visit. Most places of interest were a good 45 minutes to drive to.

The staff are very nice and always available. The room is very small and the beach goes under water when the tide hits in the afternoon.

I like its location just by the beach but not white sand.

The property contains a historical fort, the "Baluarte", that I believe dates from the Spanish Colonial period. This structure has a beautiful terrace that looks out on the ocean. The terrace has wonderful breezes from the ocean.

Wonderful spot for a family get together. Right on the ocean. Food and drink service available. No pool but direct access to the beach.

Amazing hidden gem tucked away behind the Argao Catholic Church. Ocean front setting. Quaint and rustic.

I like listening to the sound of the waves. I like watching the sun rise and the activities on the beach. I didn't like the shower in the room extremely hard to get the right mix of hot and cold water.
