Had a great memorable relaxing place to stay and superb opportunity of bonding w/ batch mates. Aside from cabana my group had rented the villa and there were a lot of convenient facilities available too which complemented our gathering . Though it was only an overnight stay we had created a festival of memories to carry us to the next reunion.

Your Travel Guide to Tigbauan as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Tigbauan from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from Manila or other major Philippine cities, the most convenient way to reach Tigbauan, Iloilo, is by air. Several airlines operate flights to Iloilo International Airport (IA L). Flight durations typically range from 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on the specific route and airline. Fares can vary significantly based on the season and how far in advance you book your flight, so it's wise to compare prices and book early.

Once you land at Iloilo International Airport, you have several options to get to Tigbauan. The most direct route is by taxi or a pre-arranged car service, which will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Alternatively, you can take a public utility jeepney or a van from the airport to the city proper of Iloilo, and then catch another jeepney or bus heading towards Tigbauan. This public transport option is more budget-friendly but will take longer, potentially 1.5 to 2 hours in total travel time.

For those who prefer land travel, long-distance buses operate from major terminals in Manila to Iloilo City. This is a significantly longer journey, often taking 18-24 hours, and can be more tiring. However, it is a more economical choice for budget-conscious travelers. From the Iloilo City bus terminal, you would then need to find a bus or jeepney bound for Tigbauan. Planning your transportation in advance, especially if opting for flights, can help secure better deals and ensure a smoother journey.

Best Time to Visit Tigbauan

The Philippines generally experiences a tropical climate, and Tigbauan in Iloilo is no exception. The best time to visit Tigbauan is typically during the dry season, which runs from November to May. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities, exploring the town, and enjoying the resort's facilities like the swimming pool. The months of December to February are particularly pleasant, with cooler temperatures and less rainfall.

The wet season, from June to October, brings with it higher chances of rain, which can sometimes be heavy and prolonged. While this season might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, it could disrupt outdoor plans. If you don't mind occasional rain showers and are looking for a more tranquil visit, the shoulder months of the wet season can still be enjoyable. Always check the weather forecast closer to your travel dates to pack appropriately and plan your itinerary.

For Filipino travelers, understanding these seasonal patterns helps in planning a trip that maximizes enjoyment and minimizes potential weather-related inconveniences. Whether you prefer the consistent sunshine of the dry season or the quieter atmosphere of the wet season, Tigbauan offers its own charm throughout the year.

Food and Dining Near Tigbauan — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Iloilo is renowned as the "Food Capital of the Philippines," and Tigbauan offers a taste of this culinary heritage. A must-try dish is La Paz Batchoy, a hearty noodle soup made with pork, pork cracklings, and offal, originating from the nearby town of La Paz. Its rich, savory broth and complex flavors make it a deeply satisfying meal, perfect for a cooler evening or a hearty lunch. You can find authentic versions in local eateries around Tigbauan.

Another Ilonggo specialty that you should seek out is KBL, which stands for Kadyos, Baboy, at Langka. This is a unique stew featuring pigeon peas, pork, and young jackfruit, simmered in a flavorful broth. The combination of tender pork, earthy kadyos, and the subtle sweetness of langka creates a distinct taste that is beloved by locals. It’s a comforting dish that showcases the region’s agricultural bounty and culinary creativity.

Don't leave Iloilo without trying Pancit Molo. Unlike other pancit dishes, this is a savory soup dumpling dish, with wonton-like dumplings filled with ground pork and shrimp, served in a rich chicken broth. It’s a delicate yet flavorful dish that is often enjoyed as a starter or a light meal. Many local restaurants and even home kitchens in Tigbauan and surrounding areas will offer this delightful Ilonggo comfort food.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Tigbauan

Filipino culture in Iloilo, like in many parts of the country, is characterized by warmth, hospitality, and strong community ties. When visiting Tigbauan, embracing a polite and respectful demeanor will be greatly appreciated. Learning a few basic Hiligaynon phrases, such as "Salamat" (Thank you) and "Maayong adlaw" (Good day), can go a long way in fostering positive interactions with locals. Always ask for permission before taking photos of people.

Safety in Tigbauan is generally good, as it is a relatively peaceful municipality. However, as with any travel, it's always wise to remain aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas or when using public transport. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items unnecessarily. For emergencies, know the local police hotline number, which can usually be obtained from your accommodation or by asking locals.

For a smoother travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for finding your way around. A translation app can be helpful if you encounter language barriers, though many Filipinos, especially in tourist-related services, speak English. For booking accommodations and attractions, the Traveloka app is a must-have, offering convenience and access to various deals.

In my opinion, another misleading listing for a room. Seems to be a constant theme in the philippines. Room was listed as a shared kitchen with no kitchen available. Only a refrigerator and a big sign posted. No, cooking you can't cook. It's not a kitchen.. Bed was listed as a double sorry. It's a twin size plus slightly bigger than a normal twin. Left me with so much back pain. I had to take muscle relaxes and painkillers. The week that I was there just to be able to sleep on it. The staff was exceptional. I appreciate all their hard. Work and efforts. Thank you. But I will not return to this location and I will be Larry of any listings of any businesses while I'm in the Philippines in the future. Sad to say it's leaving a bad reflection on the Philippines itself. Which breaks my heart

We had a great family bonding @ Bearland. The pool is considered great which we enjoyed much during our stay. However, we are disappointed with the service/accommodation they offered given the price we paid. I paid SGD96 which is equivalent to almost 4,000/ night for my booking @ Expedia in August, but the moment we reached to check in at around 2:00 pm, we were advised to wait cos the room was not yet ready and they're only able to accommodate us @ around 3:30pm which is late yet upon check out, were not given any grace period but asked to check out on time (12:00 nn). Also the room that they provided us (Siegfred Bungalow is not appropriate for 3 occupants, as it is designed for big number of families. We no need a big space but a comfortable one. Just to highlight the heater is not working and the shower head is rusty, old and not working well. From my booking deluxe budget A is stated but I think it fell short cos we had also experiences from the past which we paid lesser yet our accommodation was beyond our expectation. On top of that, there was a water supply problem on the night of our stay, we had to look for the guard to inform as there's no telephone available in the room for any emergency concerns & no staff at the reception at that time. These are just constructive feedback which the management can improve. I know you can do better if you prioritise the comfort and concern of your customers. This is just our experience, others may have different.

The pool overlooking to the beach. We stayed in the house with shared bathroom. The water faucet made noise every time we used it. No phone available. The best foods we ordered sizzling bangus with fresh pinakbet..Friendly staffs..

The living room and kitchen space in the cabana were actually big. I just wish they had told is it was that big so we could have just asked for extra beds instead of getting another room.

My family stayed in the 2 bedroom bungalow and everything was great. They had a great time using the amenities of the resort. I have no complaints. The bungalow is clean and everything in order. Will definitely go back in the summer.

This is a gorgeous hotel by the sea. Unfortunately, still room for improvement. With pricing above average for Iloilo, it has to be near perfect. They need to be more transparent about the shared living facilities. Although you will have your own bedroom, the rest of the living area will be shared with one or more couples. This place is also a bit of a money grab. EVERYTHING will cost you extra. For starters, the "Free breakfast" is a Filippino breakfast. For an American breakfast, you will be forced to sign an invoice for an additional $200 pesos. Tea instead of coffee will also cost you an additional $60 pesos. Even the use of the beach volleyball court will cost you $800 pesos/ HOUR!!! No surprise that we were the only couple in the massive pool for two days! I have yet to be invoiced for my American breakfasts and tea, so my anger has subsided a bit from when we arrived. Unfortunate way to start off our stay. BUYER BEWARE.

It should not be thought of as a resort. there is nothing luxurious about the place. I posted pictures and a longer review on tripadvisor. those pictures explain a lot. we went to enjoy a resort as a valentines treat. the pool area we did enjoy and that is the Only thing clean and maintained at this property [not a resort] our building was siegmund. it had no AC turned on in the main area where the TV, meeting area, dining table and the place you would like to be with the others you go with. the front door was cracked and poorly hung. the couches were dirty and very low to the floor. the throw pillows were grimy and also stained from previous guests eating and sweating in that hot area. Had the AC been on, it would have been better. the old breakfast was served poolside at our request. and that was a nice viewing experience. Yes We enjoyed the Views around the pool area - the pool is great and you ought to just enjoy the pool area [bring your own food] avoid staying in the room, unless you like small and dirty places shared with the occasional cockroach [yeah I had fun trying to drown a fair sized one in the shower] the bathroom is very small, poorly designed, dirty, stained and the shower door was broken, As was the entry door did not close as it too was broken. really the place could be made nice with just some proper maintenance.

I booked a room in these place cost 6k Php paid online and arrived in the place with dissappointment, as my name wasn't in the booking list. The room they've given me was terrible! The cupboard was dusty not even cleaned! The bed was itchy seems like lots of bugs in there. It wasn't even washed I believe. So far the worst place I have encounter. They are not organize, the AC was no remote either. Not worth of money! I don't recommend this place, it's awful.
