Good place for relaxation
Bearland is a small resort located in Tigbauan, Iloilo. We go there once in a while during our day off, for a quick swim in its pool, to have some drinks in its sunken bar, or simply to relax. Aside from the pool, the resort also has a pavilion, which is good for social functions (like wedding receptions, birthday parties, family gatherings or corporate meetings). I really don't know how its accommodations are since we really don't stay there overnight ... the resort is near our place in Iloilo City (some 20mins away). But I know that they have bungalow type rooms, duplexes, suites, cabanas, and so forth. Price ranges from around Php 2100 upwards. Bearland is a good place to go to if you want a relaxing day away from work. The pool is really nice and it is clean. Kids would love its slide, for sure. Food is also good, and the staff are all friendly and welcoming.

Don't waste your time and money
I wish I could write our entire experience here at this so called "Paradise Resort" but I don't think I would have enough space. The staff lack training and very poor customer service. This resort assures that all the fees are collected upon entry with the strict security but do not assure that the guests will have the excellent experience during the visit. And It seems as if you are not foreigner you will get dIfferent treatment. Why??? I paid just as much as they did, if not more!! Entrance fee is expensive, not worth it at all. 250 pesos per adult ( I guess they consider 10 years old an adult here) and 150 pesos per child, whether u will be using the swimming pools amenities or not. AND, they charge 100 pesos per bag if you bring in food, AND they do not allow any sort of drinks, they supposedly offer you a pitcher of water. We were ok with all that. If that's the rule, we follow the rules. But once your money is collected the experience was HORRIBLE!! They don't allow guests to bring in drinks and they provide water upon request, and just like their service, very slow!!! Over an hour of waiting for our food, they did not give us water, even after atleast requesting 3 times when almost all the food has been consumed. I had to walk to the front office to complain did they finally bring us ONE pitcher of water with FOUR glasses, WHEN WE PAID FOR ATLEAST 25 PERSONS!!!! They expected us to drink and rotate the glass??!!! Then this is where It got really bad--my 10 year old hands me an undercooked chicken (i mean with blood!!) after eating almost all of it, to ask me if it's cooked!!!!!!! NO ITS NOT COOKED!!!! seriously we waited over an hour and we are served uncooked chicken??!!! Absolutely unacceptable!! I ask for a manager and I'm told "sorry ma'am we don't have a manager" so I ask who can I speak with to address my concerns. She brings back someone who introduces himself as "not" the manager but will listen to my concerns, useless..... Don't waste your time and money here. That night my son started vomiting and was confined in the hospital for 3 days due to food poisoning. That's why I'm really upset. This "resort" put my sons health in jeopardy due to the incompetence. I wanted to return to that resort but did not have the time because our vacation days were coming to an end. Because of this bad experience we, especially my son, did not get to enjoy and experience Iloilo. We are just happy that my son has recovered.

A piece of paradise
I returned here for an overnight stay to be in a seminar. Bearland is still a beauty to behold, very clean and relaxing. I stayed in Cabana 3. It is decorated with great taste. I love the pocket garden of the cabana. My bed was so comfortable, I could snuggle in it the whole day if I have the luxury of time. Food was okay and you can see efforts to be welcoming and be of service from the staff. Looking forward to going back and staying longer for another experience of a piece of paradise.

Paradise lost!
Booked a room for two nights for P3,800 per night. The check in was smooth and the staff who assisted us was genuinely warm and friendly. You can tell she loves her job. Cabana 2 was near the kiddie pool and it was set in a beautifully landscaped area. The room, while nicely decorated, was stuffy and even with the aircon on, I can smell the dust and mold. The room needs a good airing and the aircon unit needs cleaning. The infinity pool was crowded as expected due to the day trip patrons. We opted to swim in the sea late afternoon. Once you get through the rocky patch, it was not bad especially with the beautiful sunset. Suggest wearing swimshoes to avoid nasty cuts from the sharp rocks or broken corals. We half expected the huge crowd at the pool due to the lenten break but the big let down was the food and the service for overnight guests. My friends and I ordered the famous KBL and fried milkfish from the menu but it was a terrible disappointment. The KBL does not taste like KBL at all! In fact, it was like pork boiled with salt! The milkfish was not cooked well and still cold from the freezer. Hungry and with most if not all restaurants closed, we still ate the food. Tip: bring your own food and drinks. No one seem to check. Do not order anything from the bar more complicated than a sandwitch. At 9 pm, one of my friends complained of a stomach ache and wanted tea. We called the bar and the front desk, for a kettle or hot water, no answer. I went out to reception and told the guard I need to talk to a manager, he just shrugged and said no one here. I said i have an emergency and wanted to talk to the owner or manager and to call them. The guard and two young staff there just look at each other and started to go away. I cant blame them if they are not trained properly by management. Fortunately, buscopan worked for the stomach ache and it was not food poisoning. Next morning, we were told their service is only until 8 pm. No prior notice whatsoever given on check in or in the evening. Breakfast, which is included in the room fee, was served cold. I called reception at 8 am to talk to the manager. The staff who assisted us upon check in came and said the manager is on leave. Hahaha. She said she will do her best to relay our concerns. Bearland is paradise lost due to poor management and a terrible cook! There are now better choices in Iloilo for the prices they charged. Go elsewhere.

Bearland Upscale Disappointment.
Wife booked a room for an overnight get away and at first it was alright when walked in. We got a table by the Jacuzzi and watched the kids play then asked for the Jacuzzi to be turned on to which staff replied there was a blackout. Odd thing about the blackout though, their computers at check in worked and if look at the water in the big pool by the Jacuzzi then you could see the water jet streams circulating the water. My wife asked a passing guard about turning it on, he flipped a switch and instant on. Guess Bearland too cheap to turn the Jacuzzi on. Either that or they have the only computers and electrical system that can run without electric. So walk down the beach with the kids looking for sea shells and it was the same as all the other beaches in the philippines. Trash along the beach and broken glass. After friends left wife and I went to the room and there was the Cignal tv. Problem was that you could only get one channel on it and the picture was of poor quality. But there's always the hot shower they advertise right? Wrong!! I turned the water on and waited, barely warm. I let it run for 15 minutes and no still no hot water. Wife tells staff and they simply say you have to let it run to get hot water. By now your thinking other guests in other rooms are using the water as did I. So I wait and try again through out the night, 11:00 pm, 1am 3am and still the same, no hot water. So off to sleep and up at 8am turn shower on and order breakfast, 30 minutes still no hot water, keep checking while eating and still no hot water. Finish breakfast and still no hot water. From the time we checked in until we checked out there never was any hot water for the shower. As in all philippine hotels, resorts and such they tell you to lock your room and safeguard your belongings. The problem with that is the door going back to our little private patio. So you shut and lock the sliding door only to have the lock slowly move and unlock itself. So you lock up your room, go to the pool or beach thinking all is safe and sound. Only to come back to your room and find the back sliding door has unlocked itself and opened about an inch. Yes, that is the one they call Cabana 2. But on the bright side. The grounds inside Bearland were clean and well laid out.
