Depending on your need: I wanted a place where I can cook and access nearby malls. In fact the area is safe and I liked the environment within and without... I had a chance of walking around during the night and never had to fear anything... I am not sure but I think this is one of places where i felt comfortable walking during the night. There are places like Ayala Garden where I spent two days just enjoying whatever was going there... no disturbance no massage girls to bother you etc. Another thing I liked the area is that there are restaurant and shops that run almost 24 hrs.

Your Travel Guide to Makati as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Makati from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For most Filipinos traveling to Makati, the most efficient method is by air, landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. From major cities like Cebu, Davao, or Iloilo, flights are frequent, with prices varying based on booking time and airline, but often ranging from PHP 2,000 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip. Once at NAIA, you can take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or the airport bus to reach Makati, a journey that typically takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.

If you are coming from Luzon-based provinces, bus travel is a viable and economical option. Numerous bus companies operate routes to Metro Manila terminals, from where you can transfer to a bus or train heading towards Makati. Bus fares can range from PHP 500 to PHP 1,500 depending on the origin city and bus class. Planning your book flight or bus tickets in advance can often secure better rates.

Driving your own vehicle is also an option, with major expressways connecting to Metro Manila. However, be prepared for significant traffic, especially during peak hours. Navigating within Makati itself is relatively easy with numerous taxi services and the LRT-1 and MRT-3 lines serving key areas, though the hotel's specific location might require a short connecting ride from the nearest station.

Best Time to Visit Makati

Makati, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season, typically from November to April, offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. Temperatures are warm, and rainfall is minimal, making it ideal for walking around the city, visiting outdoor attractions, and enjoying the shopping districts. This period, especially from December to February, is considered peak tourist season.

The wet season runs from May to October. During these months, you can expect frequent rain showers, which can sometimes be heavy. However, the rain often comes in short bursts, usually in the afternoon, and is followed by sunshine. Traveling during the wet season can mean fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, offering a different kind of experience.

For Filipino travelers looking for a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, the shoulder months of November and February to April are excellent choices. These periods still offer favorable conditions for sightseeing and shopping without the peak season intensity. Regardless of when you visit, always check the weather forecast and pack accordingly.

Food and Dining Near Makati — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Makati is a culinary melting pot, offering everything from street food to fine dining. No visit is complete without trying classic Filipino dishes. Start with Adobo, the national dish, a savory and tangy stew of meat (usually chicken or pork) braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. You can find excellent versions in many local eateries and even some upscale restaurants.

Another must-try is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth, meat (pork, beef, fish, or shrimp), and a variety of vegetables like kangkong, radish, and tomatoes. Its comforting, tangy flavor is a staple in Filipino households. For something grilled, try Inihaw na Liempo (grilled pork belly), marinated and grilled to smoky perfection, often served with a side of soy-vinegar dipping sauce.

Don't forget to sample Lechon, a whole roasted pig with incredibly crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat – a celebratory dish that's worth seeking out. For dessert or a snack, Halo-Halo is essential. This popular Filipino dessert is a delightful mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream, offering a refreshing burst of flavors and textures. Exploring the food scene in Makati is an adventure in itself.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Makati

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Makati, a friendly demeanor and a smile go a long way. While English is widely spoken, learning a few basic Tagalog phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) and "Magandang araw" (Good day) is always appreciated. Respect local customs, such as dressing modestly when visiting religious sites like the Greenbelt Chapel.

Safety in Makati is generally good, especially in well-trafficked areas like the shopping malls and business districts. However, like any major city, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Keep your valuables secure and be cautious of petty theft. It's also advisable to use reputable taxi services or ride-sharing apps for transportation. In case of emergencies, the local police hotline is 117.

For navigating the city and staying connected, several apps are highly recommended. Grab is essential for ride-hailing and food delivery. Google Maps is invaluable for navigation, and Zomato or TripAdvisor can help you discover dining options. Having a local SIM card or an international roaming plan will ensure you have data access for these services throughout your stay.

I pre-paid for two rooms for two nights. When my wife arrived she was told that BSA Tower does not rent on a short-term basis and that there were NO rooms available. They said that they didn't know that you could still reserve and pay for a room. She asked about a refund and was told they knew nothing about that. I have sent a number of emails to the manager and have received no response.

The entrance for the hotel is the back of the building right beside the laundromat, not as appealing as the actual lobby in the pictures. Check in area is in a very small space, can only fit 1 guest in, no area to hang around. My parents found a cockroach on the towels in the bathroom, no soap, shampoo, conditioner. However though staff are very friendly and very helpful. Will not recommend.

The front office staff disclosed the terrible situation of an elevator technical malfunction, only after I signed the accommodation agreement. The elevator works for a short 30 minute window period every 2 hours. For the next 2 days hotel I and other hotel had to suffer and wait in a cramped crowded elevator lobby (no seats) for the short window period by which to access our hotel rooms. Terrible circumstances which the hotel management could have alleviated with a few additional amenities. It seems they just don't care. Very deficient management action for an otherwise well located hotel.

The check in counter is at the back of the property, not convenient and is bad when they make you walk around the outside like a 100 metres dragging your luggage, not able to use the lobby corridor as informed by the porter until after check-in. the unit is dated and power sockets points in awkward location. Balcony is locked for security reasons which i feel is more to prevent smoking or jumping off the building.

The room was very large and was kept clean. All amenities were provided. Unfortunately was my first impression at the reception very bad, as due to some dispute between operator and owner front entrance was not accessible for guests and I had to enter through the back door. However, the staff was nice and accommodating and I have no complaints otherwise. I hope for the operator that they can work on matters.

Nice room for the price, but elevator was not working, so I had to walk up 21 flights of stairs.

BSA is BS!!!! Front door is off limit for guest use. Had to use back alley door. Misleading ad showing beautiful front entrance. Try to use and guards will STOP.you from using it. I want a refund.

Our stay is just ok overall. I commend the staff for they are extremely polite and helpful. The room is kind of outdated needs some upgrade. Security is great. The location is perfect.

Bathroom sink was clogged. Balcony is locked sealed shut inaccessible. Overall I still recommend BSA . Very clean & staff was very friendly. Walking distance to Glorietta Mall & other shopping areas. Just about 30 minutes from the Airport.

My parents would always stay in the hotel when we visit the Philippines. They love the place and everyone are so friendly. I do love this hotel too! Keep up the good work guys! This is the 3rd time my parents are staying again there in a few weeks. See you soon! Thanks!

This one is much better than BSA Suites, Don Carlos Palanca. Water refilled every day, cleaner floors and best of all much better WiFi.
