Very Bad

Fair for the price but needs a lot of improvement.
The ambiance, I must say is homey and is clean overall, but the big areas of improvement are in the facilities. Okay, my bed was comfortable and the aircon was good considering the searing hot summer weather. There seems to be no effort to fix the bathroom sink which rendered it totally unusable, so one has to get water from the pail in the bathroom to wash your hands with or brush your teeth. Definitely not very customer friendly. The complimentary breakfast comprised of dried fish, fried egg, rice and coffee was good by local standards, but might not be acceptable to foreigners. If you're on a tight budget and want a homey atmosphere in a good location close to the airport and city center, and don't mind the inconveniences mentioned, you may still consider Carlo's. BTW, you can get a good view of the volcano from the hotel's garden. Best time to take a picture is 6-8am.

Needs proper maintenance and good service
Contrary to what they said on the phone, there were no soaps nor towels in the rooms we booked for an overnight stay. There was no one in the front desk when we arrived. Somebody from a group of men having a drinking session nearby came over to facilitate. There were a couple of cockroaches in the room, and a centipede inside the CR. Whew!

Good, but can be improved
We were at Carlo's Hometel Bed and Breakfast May of this year, and our experience was average. We had the family room, and the space was enough, beds were comfortable, the TV had cable so the kids can watch their favorite shows, breakfast was ok, and the staff was friendly enough. A big BUT is the bathroom and toilet. They can really use a good cleaning. With this improvement, for sure people would prefer to stay more with this hometel as it can be a good place for less. I mean, cheap can be good right?

My family (4 adults and 2 kids) stayed at the Carlo's Hometel Bed and Breakfast for two nights as part of our Mayon Volcano trip. We rented a three bed suite (pictures on Agoda indicated a double bed and two singles) and a single bed suite (pictures on Agoda indicated a double bed). We booked via Agoda. We arrived very late on Friday night (11pm). Despite the hotel indicating 24 hours, the entire hotel lobby area was closed up. We called the hotel about 5 times and no one answered. We were just about to leave and find alternative accommodations when a staff member rode up on his scooter. He was very intoxicated, but was able to wake up another staff member. They took us to our rooms and turned on the aircon. They advised breakfast was between 7am-9am in the venue hall. The single room was as advertised. The multi bed room we were provided was actually 5 single beds. This wasn't a big problem for us. The rooms themselves were spartan. An old TV with poor reception, a few cupboards, and night stands. Table with a few chairs. The beds were comfortable though. The rooms were ok for cleanliness, although one room had some dead cockroaches and ants. The bathrooms were pretty dirty. There was dirt caked in the soap dish, dirt and dust falling from the exhaust fan, dirt on the sink, etc. What saved this review from a poor rating was the breakfast. We had a nice longanissa breakfast the first day, and fish the second day. Servings were plentiful and the food was good. Upon checkout, there was a bit of confusion and we had to talk to the head office and advise them of the amount we had paid Agoda. I recommend you have a PRINTED copy of your Agoda reservation, as despite Agoda's claims, they seemed unsure what to do with my electronic version. Overall, this was a functional hotel. A little steep for pricing compared to local hotels that don't advertise on Agoda, etc, but the food was good and there were more than enough beds for us to sleep in, which is what we were there for!

Good Bed and Breakfast
My friend booked our stay here via Agoda. Had vacation with my family and friend's family. Plus - Staff very helpful at attending your request. - No hassle at check-in - Room is huge. I think it can fit 8 people. We were just 3 adults + 1 in a room. My friend's room can fit 10 people and they were just 3. - Good if you're spending the entire day touring. Other stuff - Limited option for breakfast, but you can request what to cook or buy - TV and aircon outdated, but functional - You have to give your room keys if you want your room cleaned. - Bathroom is functional
