Your Travel Guide to Tagaytay City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Tagaytay City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from Manila, the most common way to reach Tagaytay is by bus. Several bus companies operate routes from major terminals like Pasay (near LRT Buendia) and Cubao. The journey typically takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, with fares ranging from PHP 150 to PHP 250, depending on the bus company and type of service (e.g., air-conditioned). Buses run frequently throughout the day, offering flexibility for your travel plans.

If you prefer to fly into the nearest airport, you would book a flight to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. From NAIA, you can take a taxi or a ride-sharing service to one of the bus terminals mentioned above. Alternatively, you can arrange for a private car service directly from the airport to Tagaytay, which offers more convenience but at a higher cost, typically ranging from PHP 2,500 to PHP 4,000 for a one-way trip.

Driving your own vehicle offers the most flexibility. From Metro Manila, you can take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and then connect to the Southern Tagalog Arterial Road (STAR Tollway) towards Batangas, exiting at the Lipa City toll plaza. Follow signs for Tagaytay. The total toll fees can range from PHP 300 to PHP 500, depending on your starting point and vehicle type. You can also book flight tickets to Manila and then rent a car for the onward journey to Tagaytay.

Best Time to Visit Tagaytay City

Tagaytay City enjoys a cooler climate year-round compared to the heat of Metro Manila, making it a popular destination any time. However, the dry season, from November to April, is generally considered the best time to visit. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying the scenic views of Taal Lake. Temperatures typically range from 18°C to 26°C.

The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by occasional to frequent rainfall. While you might encounter rain showers, these are often brief and followed by sunshine. Traveling during the wet season can mean fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices. It's advisable to pack an umbrella or raincoat and be prepared for cooler, damp conditions. Despite the rain, the misty atmosphere can add a unique charm to the landscape.

You can find great Sinigang in most Filipino restaurants in Tagaytay, often prepared with a distinct local touch that enhances its taste.

For those with a sweet tooth, Tagaytay offers delicious local delicacies. Try Buko Pie, a sweet young coconut pie with a creamy filling and a flaky crust. Another popular treat is Ube Halaya, a sweet purple yam jam, often enjoyed on its own or as an ingredient in desserts.

He is dear versus our expectation into reality. room is nice with balcony. the cleanliness of the room and the maintenance of the walls are the same as in other hotels. 1 star. the cr is stinky. and my worms are still coming out 🥺 It's like I just rented an apartment and not a hotel. You are not allowed to go home at night because no one will hear you no matter how much you shout, no one will watch to open the gate. unlike other hotels, no matter what time you go out, they are open because there is a guard. When you come to View if you are looking for a good view. I give 5 stars to the view because it is upstairs where we had breakfast. Nice staff. By the way there is nothing nearby to buy so bring soap and toothpaste shampoo. nothing provided 😁 Tia

Very nice place to stay. The location overlooks the Taal. It 's a quiet place plus the pool is very nice. A very relaxing place to stay. The only thing I think that 's challenging is the parking. Not much parking space in the property.

The description of rooms from the website is not correct in reality. The Manager Jimmy is very friendly and accommodating. She made our stay a bit easier with many issues. If not for her, things will be difficult.

A good place to relax and enjoy your stay. Beware of travel agents because the hotel is quite steep. There is no corkage fee, you can also order if you don't want their food. Clean place, with free water and breakfast.

The hotel staff are all friendly and accommodating. However, the place is unmaintained and a little untidy. We stayed there with our little one and booked the family room. The bathroom is not okay. The fixtures are broken. It would have been a nice place if the management could renovate the rooms. I expected more because it looks nice in the pictures.

The front office staff was so kind and the view from this hotel is really majestic. the place is on the zigzag road which makes it a little difficult for parking and you can hear vehicles along the road. the rooms could improve as well since we were put in a room where the floorboards, doors and bathroom were dated and needs improvement. the hot and cold shower doesn't work in the day and it disrupts with the electrical wirings of the lights in the bathroom, making it flicker. theres also no shower curtain and mini ref, wifi was okay but cable tv is nice. considering the amount we paid for the room, it made up for the view, the pool and the sauna.

It’s too bad I don’t fully get to enjoy the place due to work. But the place is great for couples and small families. Service was excellent though.

+ Room was spacious with a nice view of the lake. + Staff were accommodating and friendly. + Food at the resto was good. + Nice ambience. Felt very close to nature. (-) Room was half-painted. Would probably look and feel nicer if painting is completed. (-) Please don't allow guests to hang their wet clothes to dry near the pool area. It's an eyesore. (-) I was in need of a comb and they didn't have it. Lol

Great place for staycation. Very relaxing and food was great! Maybe not as fancy as the 4 or 5 star hotels you would see in Metro Manila, but this is a relatively good place if you want to stay in Tagaytay. I don't really expect much from hotels and other accommodations from Tagaytay, but this one at least exceeded my expectations. Price isn't too practical, but it's the feeling of relaxation and intimacy that I paid for, I guess. Recommended place for couples vacation.

Our stay in Casa Alegria was truly memorable. Right from the time we arrived, the staff was very attentive and assisted us with every need. We enjoyed dipping in the pool with its breathtaking view. I loved how intimate the place was as there were only a few rooms. If you are a couple looking to celebrate a special day, I highly recommend Casa Alegria! :) I was also hesitant at first given the not so good reviews but my experience was the opposite and I hope to be back again someday.

It's a peaceful place. It's the best choice to relax and worry free. Staffs are all kind and accommodating from the process of booking until the end of it. Fascinating view of Taal Volcano adds to the scenery of the place. Imagine the short moment yet the best time of your life because you have a good place to stay at and a love one to be with. ❤️

We really enjoyed our stay in Casa Alegria. Aside from the breath taking view of Taal and the place itself, all the staff were also nice and accomodating. We will surely come back here! A very relaxing place that you can enjoy with your loved ones.

Place is very nice. Hotel staff are kind and respectful. They are always smiling for every special request we made since my grandmother is on wheelchair. there's no ramp for pwd but they are helpful to carry her to our room. The view of taal is breathtaking from the lounge, infinity pool, and from our room. It was a relaxing and fun stay.
