First off...Mitch was an absolute top notch host! Very accommodating and a wealth of knowledge for us 1st time travelers to Siargao! The grounds were beautiful, well kept and relaxing finishes! There was a little construction going on next door but it didn't bother is much. The location is about 5 minutes tuk tuk ride to General Luna city center where you'll find LOTS of shops, restaurants, bars, wellness centers etc! Book your stay with Mitch at Casa Basa, enjoy Siargao by day and a relaxing swim in their new pool during the evening hours! You'll enjoy your accommodations without a doubt! =)

The most convenient way to reach Siargao Islands from Manila and other major Philippine cities like Cebu or Davao is by air. Several airlines operate flights to Siargao Airport (IAO), also known as Sayak Airport. Flight durations vary, but typically range from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on layovers. Booking your book flight in advance, especially during peak seasons, is highly recommended to secure better fares, which can range from PHP 3,000 to PHP 8,000 or more for a round trip.

From Siargao Airport, the journey to General Luna takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour by van or tricycle. Shared van transfers are common and cost around PHP 200-300 per person. The land and sea route is generally more budget-friendly but significantly more time-consuming. Bus fares from Manila to Surigao City can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 3,000, with the journey taking over 24 hours. Ferry tickets are considerably cheaper, usually around PHP 300-500. Best Time to Visit General Luna, Siargao Islands

The peak season for surfing and general tourism in Siargao Islands, particularly in General Luna, runs from September to May. This period generally offers drier weather and consistent waves, making it ideal for surfers and beach lovers. The months of March to May are particularly pleasant with sunny skies, perfect for island hopping and enjoying the beaches. Expect higher accommodation prices and more crowds during these months.

The surfing season is most active from September to November, when the famous Cloud 9 wave is at its best. However, this period can also bring occasional rain showers. For a balance of good weather and fewer tourists, consider visiting in the months of February or early March. You'll still likely find good conditions for surfing and exploring, but with a more relaxed atmosphere. Regardless of when you visit, always be prepared for the possibility of tropical weather changes, as Siargao's climate can be unpredictable.

By far the best Hotel I have ever stayed In. I never experience this A+ super class type of treatment like Iv’e known the owners for years. Zero complaints here and would love to visit Siargao just to stay at Casa Basa again. The couple who owns this need to own all the hotels in the world and we all will live in a better place in terms of vacation stays. I highly recommend it. They will treat you like a family of their own. Now I am staying in a more expensive hotel due to family size that just arrive and I wish I stayed at CasaBasa for my whole trip instead.

This property has it all! Excellent service, cleanest and coziest accommodation we’ve been to and most importantly, the nicest owners, staffs and even dogs. If ever you stay at this property, they also offer all day breakfast, van transfers, tours and even massages & nail services. I strongly recommend this place!

Awesome stay. Small property run by a couple and small staff. Excellent value, very clean, staff very helpful and kind. The only thing that could have made it better would be televisions in the room.

Absolutely LOVED this place. It is tucked away in a beautiful little grove of coconut trees. The rooms are spacious and clean and comfortable. The hotel has a cool design. They also have scooter for rent at the hotel. Mostly, however, the owner and staff feel like family. They are so fun and sweet and helpful in every way. I will definitely be back again.

PRO: Greatest perk of this place are the hosts - it is family-owned and run. I love that the people that greeted us, and welcomed us they did, are the actual owners - no middle management. They are also always there so no issues with communication. Facility is new, has a common area where there's a bar, reading area with sofas and books, no loud music that's blaring all the time. Very quiet, nature-y ambiance/environment. Has chairs and table to hangout right outside the rooms. Had "sampayan" for clothes to dry. Tours/surfing/transportation available upon request, laundry service are also available for a decent fee, food is also available but limited and pricey. Room has a fridge. CON: Biggest downside of this place is the constant blackout, but i think its the whole area and they do have a generator - you just have to keep turning on the AC everytime power goes off/on because it doesn't turn on automatically. WiFi is also weak to non-existent, mostly due to the power outage. Beds are not the soft type so for soft-bodied Americans like myself, i find it difficult to get comfortable/get a good night's sleep. No TV, which is not necessarily a bad thing. No safe, but its family-run so only the family can get into the room. Insects, and a frog in our case, seems to find their way in so be aware of this, always keep the bathroom closed esp. at night. General Luna/stores/restos are not walkable. RECOMMENDATION: Recommended for people looking for a homestay/intimate-type accomod

This place is special. Special in the sense that you are looked after in a way that you feel at home. I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely come back. The beds are super comfy and they looked after me like I was part of the family. Even one time I went to see if I can get food and was invited to join for dinner. Great people with most important - family values. You can feel it.

I had a fantastic experience at this hotel from start to finish. The staff was incredibly welcoming, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. Check-in was quick and hassle-free, and I immediately felt at home. The room was spotless, well-appointed, and very comfortable. The bed was especially cozy, and the linens were fresh and high-quality. What really stood out was the attention to detail and genuine care from the entire team. It’s clear they prioritize guest satisfaction.
