A Simple and Small Hotel with Swimming Pool
We love the homey ambiance at Casa Dona Emilia in Paoay, Ilocos Norte. The hotel is strategically located in front of the Paoay Municipal Hall so it can be easily traced and accessible to guests who want to take a tricycle ride. At the hotel lobby, you will see the fountain and the cute swimming pool just beside the hotel rooms. Well, I can say that the pool is clean as well as the areas around it. The check - in was rapid because prior bookings were already made by our friend/officemate. We are fortunate that the special request we've made was granted. That is, to serve the breakfast ahead of their regular serving time. We have to check-out of the hotel early to prepare our itinerary going to Pagudpod and other tourist spots in Ilocos that day. The hotel rooms are equipped with a comfy bed with pillows, cabinet for clothing, refrigerator, television with cable and toiletries. During our overnight stay, I just noticed that the room temperature was not that cold (eventhough the thermostat is set on the maximum). But our overall experience in this small hotel, this is very good.

Great Location
Booked this hotel as it is essentially the only hotel within walking distance of Paoay Church. I wanted to get some perfect images of the church at sunrise and sunset - it was a great choice from that perspective. Hotel was not expecting us but seems that was an Internet problem. Hotel staff very friendly and cordial - had booked via Trip Advisor and paid extra for a superior room. I think they must have missed that but never mind. The room was small and basic. There was a swimming pool but also mosquitos - so I refrained from a swim. Bed comfortable, bathroom a little small. Breakfast (ordered the evening before) was excellent albeit limited in choice. All in all I was delighted with the location - less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel - a UNESCO world heritage site. Got those photos too ! Easy to find - it's opposite the town hall. Cost was quite reasonable. Good hospitality.

"Fantastic Stay!"
Such a nice place to stay when you travel to Ilocos Norte. Casa Dona Emilia is located where you can enjoy a 1km jog circling the town proper of Paoay. There, you can take a close look at the famous Paoay Church, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is also a convenience store nearby, so if you need to buy some stuffs, you can easily go there. At the entrance, there's this sofa where I just loved to lie down as the ambiance is so relaxing. Also, in the receiving area, they hang there the picture of Architect Miguel Guerrero, a founding member of Green Architecture Advocacy Philippines (GreenAP). He was the one who designed the hotel. The rooms are also very cozy and cool. And the staffs, they're so accommodating. They always have those smiles on their faces when greeting you. Lastly, they serve superb food that lets you have a wonderful taste of their famous longganisa. So, Casa Dona Emilia offers a totally wonderful stay in Paoay. Thumbs up!

A very disappointing stay!
This bed and breakfast has the potential to be a real haven, but lacks real drive by its manager/owner. Sadly once you stay there you realise the real truth, toilets that don’t flush properly, stained bed sheets, have they never heard of bleach? Towels with holes, which I have never ever seen.... and I travel all over the world! and when we asked for new towels, the new towels had even bigger holes! The toiletry kit had hard toothpaste, cheap soap and a disposable brush that broke into 3 parts as I took my first brush cutting my lip! What if it was my child? He could have choked! Normally disposable brushes can last for a week or more! We checked the second brush and it also broke once we exerted any pressure on the arm. We asked to use the pool which was dirty and we had to clean the pool manually as the staff looked on. The small table under the tree had a dangerous hole which you can catch your fingers on. The second morning we wanted to go for a swim but found that the pool area was being used for a photo shoot, no one told us when it was to finish so we stayed away from the motel until 5 pm, even though we were dying for a swim. On the second night there was a loud party until 3 am despite a 10 pm curfew. I now have the flu as I put the air-con up high to block out the sound, only when I went out at 3 am and complained did they finally stop! The young man in charge was sitting with the party group and denied he was in charge even though he held the room keys. The front doors were wide open and the office door was open too! I never felt safe there during my stay. The only redeeming feature was that the acting manager next day apologised and refunded my stay which I am now spending the money on doctor and medicine fees today. The kitchen lady was very concerned the next day and was genuinely worried for us, she was wonderful and a real asset to the bed and breakfast. For 500 p more we could have stayed near the beach like before but we made the sad decision to stay in town close to family and friends. To the manager/owner, invest in the training of your staff and buy bleach, new towels and toiletries and your bed and breakfast could become a 4 star stay!

Not so Bad!
We stayed for overnight. We had the family room. 1double bed and 2 single beds and had to get additional bed as we are 5adults and 1baby. Beds and pillows are so comfy but so disappointed to get a 3inches thick matress smaller than the size of a single for our "extra bed" and paid 700pesos for it! I was thinking of a folding bed not just a matress 💔!!! But the hotel is quite, aircon was working, hot shower and breakfast were included. Its located very close to Paoay Church... ❤
