Secluded old resort with a nice pool
Stayed here with a big group for an overnight team-building activity. PROS: - Warm large Pool (2ft.up to 7ft.) - Spacious room with veranda - Impressive paintings on the Lobby's ceiling. IG-worthy. - Staffs are accommodating CONS: - Too quiet and secluded, away from most resorts in Subic - Hotel looks aged. needs some renovation. - Beach is not swimmable. - The resort feels very spooky to me even in day-time - Experienced a power outage at midnight. I was in the lobby's restroom. it scared me to death TIP: - If you feel that the room's AC is not cooling enough, turn off the exhaust fan in the bathroom. We initially thought that the room has a defective AC, only to find out that the exhaust fan is sucking all the cool air from our room.

TERRIBLE
we were staying at sunset view villa and opted to get breakfast here. Major error ... all the terrible things written about the place is true!!!!! menu of breakfast items do not deliver. wait staff are either deaf or untrained, wore dirty shoes, had dirty nails, repeated orders but still delivered wrong items.... its a dump period! photo is what corned beef rice breakfast had steamed rice, barely there corned beef, a slice of tomato and cucumber is what was passed on as archara.

Need a major enovation
The resort is obviously aging. Not sure when it was built but clearly from the cobwebs, deteriorating painting and the furniture conditions that it must have been in operation for more than a decade. Taking the condition of the hotel aside, we still managed to enjoy our stay because it is not crowded unlike other resorts. The staffs were generally friendly, the food is average but a bit costly. If only they can have a major renovation of the resort, it can still attract customer.

Don't stay here.
The hotel describes itself as luxurious, excellent and customised service, and 30 minutes from subic freeport. These are all lies. The hotel is in appalling condition, there are no fire sprinklers in the rooms and the fire engine presumably required to get round fire safety has rusted and has 4 flat tires. Clearly it would be no use if needed. There is no maintenance at the property nor is it being cleaned. You get to the hotel after an hour drive from the Freeport, past a squatter village and an empty property development. The hotel does not have lighting so it appears dark and dingy. We booked a "villa" which was in a filthy condition, mold everywhere, rust on the appliances, the smell of dead rats, dead insects, holes in the walls and ceilings, the patio doors have rusted shut, the shower was inoperable, filth all over the shower glass, it had not been cleaned in years, exposed electrical cables, the list goes on and on. I spoke to the hotel manager who started to defend the condition of the property but as I walked him through the room he gave up and admitted it was awful. Whilst he did let us use the adjoining room with a working shower the condition was no different. The whole property is falling apart and the staff really don't seem to care. Stay here at your peril.

A Gem in the Rough--Paint and Customers Needed.
Took a long weekend from Manila in mid-February--getting out of Manila is always good and once you clear EDSA you can see the air is cleaner ! The resort as in the title is a gem in the rough. The website pictures were no doubt from the year it opened in 2002 I believe and over those 15 years the paint has peeled and cobwebs built up--in fact as it aged nothing was fixed. The villas are nice but need an upgrade--bed is hard and TVs so tiny. The pool is awesome albeit the shrieking children were not. At least the large S shaped pool is three feet at one end and six in the other so the charming screaming kids were far away. Great location on Subic Bay, but far off the beaten track through the slum-like Olongapo. Food is adequate with a nice serving staff. The front desk staff remind me of Soviet era hotel staff as if you show up it means they have to actually do something and without a smile or "how do you do " they go through the motions. The place needs TLC and better trained staff -like don't blast a local radio station at the pool while guest are trying to relax and do clean the pool as the pine needles constantly drop in the pool from the two trees nearby--more palms please ! On Sunday the four other rooms of guests left including the shrieking kids and I was all alone at the place--little scary at night but had the place to myself-except for the troops of toads that hop around the pool, at dusk ! Looks like they're adding a wave pool, but so much more is needed to make this resort look like its brochure.
