The ferry ride itself is short, usually taking about 15-20 minutes, and the fare is very affordable, typically around PHP 10-20 per person. This makes the island easily accessible for a quick island escape.

While direct bus travel to Samal Island is not possible, you can take buses to Davao City from various parts of Luzon and Mindanao. The sea is typically calmer, making ferry rides and island hopping more pleasant.

The wet season, from June to October, can bring intermittent rain showers, sometimes heavy. While this period might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, it's advisable to pack rain gear and be prepared for possible disruptions to outdoor plans. Despite the rain, the island remains beautiful, and you can still enjoy many indoor activities or simply relax at your resort. My family and I recently stayed at Club Samal and while there were some positive aspects, there were also quite a few things that could use improvement. The good: The location was perfect! The food at the hotel was a highlight, with delicious meals that exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which was another plus. The not-so-good: Unfortunately, our experience with the room was disappointing. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable—far too firm and the pillows were lumpy, making it hard to get a good night's sleep. There was also an issue with the shower, as there was no hot water available during our stay, which was very frustrating. On top of that, the room was not as clean as I had hoped. There were visible stains on the toilet floor, sink and a general lack of attention to detail in housekeeping. Overall, while the food and location were great, the condition of the room and the lack of basic amenities like a hot shower made my stay less enjoyable. I hope the hotel addresses these issues for future guests.

I requested our 2 booked rooms (poolside rooms) to be near in the beach and bar, and it was granted initially through call, unfortunately when we check in, the receptionist told us that they were fully booked, and we were given another 2 rooms which are at the end, with very poor tv signal reception!sad to know, during our stay, the rooms we requested were not occupied! it's disgusting that the entire pool side rooms in one building are not occupied! the place was good as well as the staff are courteous..but the problem is the receptionist on duty that time. january 28, 2020.

We paid around 5,000php for the room (2 persons) and for one additional kid and adult for around 3000php. The amount of 8,000php+++ was not worth it for four of us. The pool itself is fantastic and the service of the restaurant was excellent! However I am very dissatisfied how their receptionists handle their guests. It seems like their lines are scripted and they do not reconsider regardless they are at fault. The first room which was provided had incomplete basic necessities such as hotel slippers, we requested then at the front counter to provide us 4 slippers as we paid for all guests. She said that they can only provide 3 as there are no stocks available. How disappointing was that, it was not a peak season but they run out of supplies? We can barely count the people who checked-in at their hotel. Then the room service crew came in, where my husband complained that we need extra slippers, my husband said if do they want the other person to walk barefoot? And the room service crew provided us with an extra slipper afterwards. The receptionist whom we spoke to is such a liar. If we did not insist, they would not provide and I really hate it when someone lies. Then the toilet in the room had a water leak, the entire toilet was flooded with water when we came back in, they provided us with a new room but never did I hear any apologies for the inconvenience they have caused us to move all our things to the other room. We came from overseas, clearly our luggages were very huge and we had to pack all the stuff we removed! Once we have transferred, I’ve requested if they do provide water bottles for the next day but they said no. They will just provide us a water mug from the filtered faucet. Like seriously? Even a compensation was not given? Even just water? How ridiculous their service is. The hotel amenities is great but poor service for their front counter. I could not say any negative for the restaurant crew as they work more professional compared to their receptionists. I hope their management would fix their standards with such circumstances. Not even a warming thank you when we checked-out from their receptionists! We even saw the other cleaning crews near the pool who even thanked us and said to come back to the hotel soon. How disappointing as this was supposed to be holiday relaxation but ended up me being annoyed with their receptionists. The place might be good but I would not recommend myself visiting their place again! It is just not worth the money especially paying for a kid for only a 100php difference with an additional adult fee.

Pros nice place to stay if you want a cozy place to relax and get away from the metro. some instagramable areas nice room to stay approachable and helpful receptionist. Cons unlike other hotels in samal, they charge extra for transfers (from davao port to samal or resort) when eating in their resto, blow flies will eat with you. despite them seeing the situation, they are not proactive in finding ways to eliminate blow flies. we had a hard time eating our lunch. I don't prefer swimming at their beach, the water is not clear and full of seaweeds or grass and you have to wear aqua shoes. plus it's close to the ferry dock. the rate does not equate to the amenities which you can or should enjoy like the beach.

The place was awesome but I have a little concern with the rate concerning amenities. Breakfast was decent, It has no fridge, no slippers no vanity mirror aside from the bathroom, a little less necessities, the room was spacious that they could use a little couch for it. But thankful that they allow us to check in early as we were exhausted with the red eye flight.

We had a great stay in Club Samal Resort. It is very accessible may it be by car or by boat. The rooms are clean and modern though I wish they had a wifi connection and a full length mirror in the room. Over all our stay is good and the staff are very helpful during our stay. Will definitely go back.

We enjoyed it so much because of the room, pool, and the foods. We are so thankful because we didn’t have any problem regardless of our booking.

A little bit pricey but we enjoyed our overnight stay. The free boat transfer is very convenient and the staff who welcomes guests is very accommodating. Had a minor issue with the floater that we rented and their pool attendant but the Supervisor and General Manager resolved the issue professionally. We’ll definitely recommend this resort.

We had a wonderful time with my family there. The resort is not that crowded and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Although they encountered a problem with the dinner buffet and let the food trays empty for more than 30mins. But definitely, we will go back again! :)

I've read reviews that say the resort has poor service. Definitely true! our order took 2 hours and 15 minutes to be served. A lot of waiters did not know what they were doing. Water took an hr to be served. Front desk gave wrong amounts when we checked out, GM was not engaging with customers despite a lot of families getting infuriated already with the delay on food orders. The rooms, ambiance, and architecture were nice but the poor service could not compensate the bad experience we had.

Staying at a Club Resort means spending more money. Before going there, we already anticipated it and choosing this resort amongst others was a great choice. You will definitely love the food and will be satisfied of it. The staffs were polite and friendly. Since we stayed there during weekday there were only few guests that checked in that day. Usually they availed the daytour package of the resort. The resort is so clean because every now and then you will found their staff sweeping the area and even gardening (lol). Their room is spacious. They both have hot and cold shower. The ambiance is nice and good for relaxation. Will definitely stay here again for relaxation.

Room is clean and the bed is good. However, there are no slippers, robe, and bidet which are essential. Pool and other amenities are good. On the other hand, I do not recommend to swim on their beach front as there are lots of seaweeds and beach is not that clean. Food is bad, it does not even match with the description on their menu. We ordered dry rub baby back ribs; as per description from their menu, "..it falls off the bones..", reality is the meat is rubbery and doesn't falls off the bones. Better if you will just eat outside the resort. Good service from the staff. Place is instagrammable.
