My family loves everything in Crusoe Cabins & the entire Casobe. There's just some minor thing to fix in the cabin where we stayed - the shower door is not closing properly thus water goes out of the shower area making the toilet area always wet & slippery. But overall the stay was great, we'll definitely come back.

Best Time to Visit Calatagan

The dry season, typically from November to May, is generally considered the best time to visit Calatagan. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and calmer seas, which are ideal for beach activities, swimming, and exploring the coastline. The weather is usually pleasant, with lower chances of rain, making outdoor excursions more enjoyable for Filipino travelers.

The months of December to February are particularly popular due to cooler temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it peak season. If you prefer fewer crowds and potentially better rates, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or March to May. The wet season, from June to October, can bring occasional heavy rains and rougher seas, which might limit some outdoor activities, though it offers a quieter experience for those who don't mind the possibility of unpredictable weather.

Food and Dining Near Calatagan — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Batangas is complete without trying Bulalo, a hearty soup made with beef shanks and bone marrow, slow-cooked until tender. The rich, flavorful broth is incredibly comforting, especially after a day by the sea. Many local eateries and restaurants in Calatagan and surrounding areas serve this classic dish, often with a side of fresh vegetables.

Another Batangas specialty is Lomi, a thick noodle soup often enjoyed as a filling meal. It typically includes pork, liver, and vegetables, thickened with cornstarch. Its savory taste and satisfying texture make it a favorite among locals. You can find numerous Lomi houses in Calatagan, each with its own take on this beloved dish.

Enjoying freshly caught fish, often simply grilled with salt and pepper, is a delightful experience. Many beachfront eateries offer a selection of the day's catch, allowing you to choose your meal and have it prepared to your liking.

Don't forget to try Batangas' famous Kapeng Barako, a strong and aromatic local coffee. Its distinct, robust flavor is a wake-up call and a perfect accompaniment to any meal or snack. Look for local coffee shops or ask for it at restaurants to savor this unique Filipino brew. Exploring these local flavors will enhance your culinary journey in Calatagan.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Calatagan

Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and Calatagan is no exception. When interacting with locals, a friendly demeanor and respectful attitude go a long way. Learning a few basic Tagalog phrases can also be appreciated. Be mindful of local customs, especially when visiting religious sites or more traditional areas.

For emergencies, know the local police and hospital contact numbers.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps or Waze is crucial for getting around. A translation app can be helpful if you encounter language barriers, though English and Tagalog are widely understood. For booking local transport or tours, the Traveloka app is indispensable, offering a wide range of services at your fingertips.

Familiarize yourself with the local emergency numbers. Having these readily accessible on your phone can provide peace of mind. We would not recommend a stay to others based on our experience. Our “Sea View” room faced directly at Captain Barbozza’s restaurant so I feel very deceived by the room description from the beginning. It is a partial view of the ocean at best and not a view at all if we are speaking honestly. For a resort that does not allow people to bring in food from the outside, we thought the restaurants would serve better food and be well prepared yet every day items on the menu were not available? The pool facilities also shut down for maintenance during our stay and then only partially reopened with some things working and others not working. The staff were friendly and attentive but many times things we asked were not provided correctly the first time which became frustrating over time. This may have been a communication problem as we spoke English exclusively and did not speak Tagalog. It is unfortunate because the resort has potential but for us, a group of 5 adults and 1 child that included 2 seniors in their 80s, it was neither comfortable or enjoyable and mostly a frustrating experience.

All the staff are friendly and very accommodating to our needs. The tour around the resort and driven to our cabin in a golf cart was really nice. Our beach front cabin was perfect. Loved the complimentary warm & delicious banana bread to cabin guests. Also booked a pod/cocoon room in addition and that's pretty cool. The swimming pool is awesome with slides that's perfect for kids. There's also a basketball court and you can borrow bikes to use around the premises. There's only one restaurant in the resort and it would be better to have multiple choices. There's a coffee & ice cream truck but I suggest a Food Court since the resort is HUGE and there's plenty of space. I highly highly recommend this place for family and couples and I would definitely go back .

Nice cabins, spacious, bed was comfortable. Lots of flies, cannot eat at Restaurant as it is open. Hard to contact Guest Services for needs. Beach filled with seagrass, will not recommend for small kids. Okay for groups to hang out

The beach is lovely, but there people selling goods that won't leave you alone that kind of ruins the experience.

Our stay went well and the place was quite relaxing. Aircon was sufficient but the shower was a bit challenging to get the right temperature.
