Feel at home
I arrived in El Nido without a booking, but with an address in my pocket. The guesthouse where I was thinking to stay was closed. I did not want to stay in one of El Nido's many and anonymous hotels/guest houses or hostels. I was looking for a quiet area and a hotel with a special atmosphere. I went to Caalan and was very lucky to find a room at Dragonfly. The welcome was warm, informal and extremely nice. The owners have been amazing since then. Dragonfly exactly matches what you expect to find in Palawan and El Nido. A small wooden structure with few very cozy rooms. My room, on the first floor, was large enough, cozy, bright and clean with a beautiful and intimate terrace. In a few words it was perfect! The overall atmosphere was extraordinarily warm and nice right away. On the evening of my arrival, I was lucky enough to eat the pizza homemade by Max, one of the owners, with 30 years of experience as a baker in Florence. What about the excellent pasta with shrimp and coconut? When I travel I always use eating local food, but Max's pizza and pasta were irresistible (trust me, I’m Italian!). Even Stefano, the other owner, is always present and available. They gave me a lot of tips to visit the whole area north of El Nido, making my stay unforgettable. I thought to stay a couple of nights instead I stayed 5 nights. They can also arrange your islands hopping tour (guaranteed and safe lunch included) and offer few scooters for rent. In few words I would highly recommend this small and cozy hotel in El Nido. If you then also have the luck of eating Max's pizza and pasta you should consider it as the icing on the cake. Book in advance even for a pasta and pizza dinner in the nice open air terrace. Ciao ragazzi e grazie ancora to made me feel at home

Friendly Owner and Fantastic Pizza!
The owner, Max, was wonderful. He was friendly and very helpful. The Dragonfly a bit of a walk from town, but Max offered to pick me up when I arrived and he dropped me off back in town when I left. He also offered to take me into town whenever I wanted, but I ended up renting a scooter from him, which was perfect. When I was there in late October, Max had just gotten a pizza oven. I was lucky enough to come home one night as he and his family were eating the first pizza that came out of it. He offered me a slice (like I said, he is very nice and welcoming) and it was delicious! I had just had pizza at the Art Cafe the night before, and Max's was 100 times better. He was a baker in Italy for 20 plus years before coming to El Nido, so hopefully, he will be selling his delicious pizza there soon. If you go to El Nido and want to stay outside of the craziness, check out the Dragonfly. It's not a 5 star place, but for a three star guesthouse, I give it a 5 star rating. Even if you don't stay there, give Max a call and ask if you can come by for a pizza!!

So lucky to have stayed here!
We stayed here by chance as the resort up the road had double booked the room so turned us away. We stopped here and he had a room made up for us in no time at all. Max and Ren are a very kind, helpful couple who couldn't have been more accomodating. The rooms are clean and have air con. Max told us the best places to go with our time, he gave us shoes and towels for our boat tours so we didn't have to pay. He told us about this amazing little Spanish tapas bar where you can watch the sunset. The price for our whole stay was so reasonable, we felt so lucky that we stayed here by chance as we didn't see this online! I would definitely recommend to any backpacker couple who don't want to be in the centre of the noisy busy town but close enough to walk there.

Highly recommended
This place is really cool looking inside and out, AC in rooms and en suites. They do have wifi; we found it very temperamental but we stayed during a typhoon so power in general was on and off.! Max the owner was a really nice guy, he completely sorted us out with boat trips and transfers and made us feel very welcome. Recommend some of best snorkelling locations I have ever seen in my life. He's a top boy. Only issue we had was the walk to the beach had gotten very wet and muddy, I'm sure in better weather this wouldn't be an issue.

Worth the money , clean rooms, accommodating hosts
Accommodating host Max and his wife were very helpful in getting us around town, worth the money. Clean and decent rooms, with AC , wifi though it tends to be intermittent as like any part of el nido. Breakfast was provided which was great. A great place to stay if you prefer the quieter side of town and close walk to the beach " caalan beach.
