Best experience of my life!
It has taken me a while to write this review, but staying here was the best experience ever! This is true Barefoot Luxury at its best and a beautiful resort that I hope to come back to someday! Pros: The resort is beautiful and rooms and common areas are stunning! The rooms are big, and come with some very nice touches (cookies, fruit, sandals, hats, etc). The common areas are beautiful and great for lounging. The food was amazing as well. There were many nights that they had the beach BBQ dinners on the sand. It was an amazing experience with live entertainment and the most romantic setting on the beach. My favorite part was the excursions. They are all included so you don’t have to worry about spending extra money each day to take trips. We did every trip that was available and they were all amazing! The guides are great, and each time we went there was only a few other couples on the boat so it did not feel crowded. We went to both of the beach clubs which was also super fun. The lunches that were catered were amazing and they had some fun activities. The best part hands down was the snorkeling right in front of the resort. My husband and I love to snorkel and we would try to go out on our own everyday. There was so much to see (reef sharks, sting rays, lots of fish and corals). Cons: getting from Manila to the other Air Swift terminal can be confusing. Our air Swift flights were booked by the hotel, but when we arrived in El Nido there was some confusion and they did not have a boat there to take us from El Nido airport to the resort. We ended up waiting for about 30 mins. This I believe was an honest mix up, and the manager greeted us upon arrival and was very quick to apologize and give us a complimentary private day tour. This definitely made up for the wait!! The only other minor thing was that the WiFi was spotty in the common areas. Overall amazing place! This resort truly feels authentic but still very luxurious.

Truly an amazing location and hotel
Spent 5 nights at Pangulasian Island Resort in beautiful Bacuit Bay and I feel this was just about right, although I did not want to leave.....!! It's tricky to get to - a flight with AirSwift from Manila to Lio Airport (serving El Nido town) and then a road and boat transfer to the hotel. Our transfer was a bit chaotic to be honest due to westerly winds making the airport jetty inaccessible so we needed road transport to the port for a boat transfer. On arrival there was an "eco" presentation which to be honest was a bit like first day at school - would have preferred to go straight to the room and find out about the eco credentials later. The beach villa was lovely - felt quite private, despite being close to neighbouring villas, due to a good level of tree and leaf cover between villas. Easy access directly onto the gorgeous beach and plenty of space to chill on the balcony with a day bed, dining table and beach-facing couch - the only thing that made these less alluring was the number of mosquitoes in the evenings (although the hotel provides a supply of quite effective and nice smelling lotion to deter these critters - use it!). I was worried about reports of "nik niks" (or sand flies) on the beach, but no problems at all when I was there. Beach - beautiful - south facing so you can see the sunrise (if you are up early enough) and the sunset and have sun all day. Soft sand and a great house reef - so much sea life to be seen within a few metres of the beach when you go snorkelling. Villa - well appointed and comfortable, although starting to show signs of wear - wardrobe doors difficult, main doors tricky to use, curtains difficult to use. All items that you get used to and will no doubt be dealt with when the villas are next refurbished (I understand there is a rolling programme of maintenance and update across all rooms). Bathroom is huge and comfortable, although the "recycled" water in the loo did give rise to a rather unpleasant odour at times - part of the eco approach - you get used to it. I was disappointed that the rain shower dripped cold water all the time when I was using the other shower attachment (I don't like rain showers). The hotel provides complimentary activities every day including snorkelling at the house reef, paddle boards and kayaks, lagoon trips, island hopping and treks to the island summit to watch sunrise or sunset as well as boat charter (chargeable) if you want to go further afield. All activities are guided by excellent staff members who really now their stuff and look after you very well. Being an Island resort, you have limited dining or shopping options but the hotel has two restaurants, two bars, a boutique and room service. Prices are quite reasonable and the wine cellar is well stocked (some quite amazing and pricey wines available). Meals taken at the pool bar and at the main restaurant were good and the restaurants are happy to deliver to your Villa if you prefer private dining. Breakfast had a good variety of options and variation each day. Overall, I really enjoyed every minute at Pangulasian Island Resort. The staff were amazing, from the housekeeping staff who would always help out with a smile, through to the restaurant staff who learned what you liked quickly, to the guides who really want you to enjoy your activities and also the management who were available and approachable if you had any issues or just to say "hello". A great hotel in a beautiful location, awesome sunsets if you are lucky with the weather. The farewell from the staff on leaving brought a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye. I would love to visit again!!

Secluded Paradise Haven
Good for families or couples. Food was very expensive although it was satisfactory. Its an island paradise. Perks were the free island hopping and snorkelling tours that came with the resort and the free snacks, beach hats, slippers and water bottles. Website was very uninformative. The airconditioning turned on and off one night but thankfully it went back to normal after a while. I think they should improve it to show the free activities one can avail of on their website. I would recommend it to foreigners. But for us locals we are spoiled for choice. It was enjoyable though. I went with my three kids and husband for our 25th wedding anniversary.

Don't recommended
I arrived with my wife on October 30 2017 for a five days holiday in Pangulasian. After two days I can only say that we're very disappointed with the hotel. Once booked we believed that we were coming to a truly 5 stars resort, the price is high enough to expect to receive a good service. Unfortunately, after two days we have experienced that the food is less than average, but the real issue is that they close the main restaurant whenever they like and you have no alternative than having dinner or lunch in a pool bar (pizza, burgers or nachos really poorly prepared) or having a buffet and paying for it accordingly to the hotel rates. You can not imagine that you come to a high category hotel and are requested to eat buffet everyday. The frustration increases when you do know that there is no alternative (you are in an island, no other option). It's a big disappointment taking into account the price that you pay. I strongly recommend not to come, price - value ratio is not worthy.
