Except the high cost of boat, it was a very nice stay there. Love the food and music!

NOT WORTH A NIGHT!
We decided to spent our last night here in Coron ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT 1 NIGHT ISN'T ENOUGH TO DISCOVER WHAT THIS RESORT HAS TO OFFER. ☺ From it's facilities, down to the hospitality of their staff, trust me if you are planning to visit this place, you'll regret staying here just for a night. ♥ When we reached El Rio y Mar I -by a private boat, I was stoked because we were greeted by their staff singing their very own El Rio y Mar welcome song haha talking about perf island vibe! Then after a brief intro about their place we were assisted to our room and I have to say that their rooms are huge! plus with complete bathroom stuff and wifi of course :D -btw we stayed at the deluxe room. Since we wanted to maximize our time at this resort we headed to the front desk to inquire about their activities (since we've heard they offer-dugong encounters) but upon reaching the front desk, the announcement on their bulletin board caught my attention. :D They are having a mini volleyball tournament that afternoon Guests vs. El Rio staff, isn't that exciting? therefore we dropped the discussion on what to do and opted to play volleyball instead♥ Before sunset, we were still able to use kayak boats and enjoy their beach. At dinner time, I pre-arranged a romantic setup for my beau (see photos below) and everything was so perfect. :) (shoutout to their staff & chef for doing such a great job ) And oh! the best part of the night was when they had a surprise serenade to all their guests (per table♥). We woke up early the following day to maximize our time on this paradise. Right after our breakfast we wasted no time and enjoy the rest of their facilities/activities. Their snorkeling area is just in front of their reef bar and I'm surprised that they have a lot of fishes down there. We also didn't miss their very own infinity pool (fyi they have 2 pools) before hitting their restaurant for a quick lunch. It was indeed a fun and relaxing place to stay when in Coron. I recommend this resort AFTER exploring the beauty of Coron like the Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoons and such. Needless to say, we are definitely going back (someday if budget and time permits☺ :D haha) to try other activities they have to offer most especially their "Dugong encounter" ♥ Disclaimer : •This review is not for budgeted trips. •They have private boat transfers so please do contact them first. •If this is your first time to visit Coron better stay here after your tours to lessen expenses and maximize your time☺. •Wait for Travel expos for discounted price :)

Beautiful & relaxing place
I stayed here for 4 nights from 26-30 Oct 2017 in room 17. The room is big with huge bed. Bed itself bit too firm for me but still comfortable to sleep in. Hot shower was took a bit time to be fully warm. Mind u that no TV here in the resort, so u better make urself enjoying whats the resort has to offer. I was a bit concerned b4 I stayed here bcoz it was mentioned on their website that there is no wifi at the room, but once we got there they already have wifi in all room, lobby, restaurant, pool n bar. Sometimes its bit slow in the room but it doesn't really bother me. Since the resort is in a "private island" u have no choice aside to have meal in their restaurant. Food was okay, but as I love spicy food its bit hard for me after few days without chilli. But the staff are very attentive. I asked one of the staff, her name is Lalyn if they could make spicy seafood fried rice for me as its not on the menu. She said yes they will make it for me and thats make me so happy!Fried rice taste good. I was also impressed with Thet who helped us with our tour. She is a very friendly person. We joined the full day tour to Twin lagoon, Kayangan Lake, Baracuda Lake,etc...it was worth it!must visit those 3 places when ur in Coron. I also decided to join half day islands hopping the next day n its very relaxing...snorkling n take pics in a white sandy little island. U can enjoy sunset in the resort...best place would be pool or the beach bar. To get to the resort from airport I suggest u to book the round transfer from the hotel. U will need 20 mins drive & 20 mins boat ride to get there. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

Rocky start but strong finish
1st thing to note is that whilst this resort is on the mainland it's not accessible by road. About 20mins from the airport to the end of the road the vans will only take you so far and then there is a 15/20 boat ride to the resort through some mangrove area which is beautiful. If you go to the resort straight from your flight then you will be fine as they will have the journey arranged for you. We were travelling part way through and we hadn't been informed we needed a boat so it was a little worrying when we got yo the drop off spot at night and no boat. The numbers on the website didn't work either which was a little frustrating. We had to get the boat tour we had been on to contact the resort and a boat was arranged. The frustration was quickly forgotten about as we had a warm musical welcome and cold drink and were quickly shown our rooms. Room was a good size with robes/ hairdryer and toiletries. There is a beautiful decking outside each room with a hammock that is right on the later. Lots of facilities - spa, games room, pool, dive shop, you bar and they have bonfires on the beach at night where you can have smores! Considering you have no option but to eat in the restaurant, there is a good choice of different cuisines all reasonable priced - they are also very generous with the glass of wine size! Trips are more expensive from the resort and depend on group size however you are an hour from coron town so it's to be expected. We only stayed 1 night so would like to go back and do a trip to see the dugongs which they do from the resort.

Nice Resort - bad communication and phone lines dont work! Need to catch private boat there.
we only stayed there 1 night and althought he resort was nice and food was great and everythng, we only had 1 knock on the place and that was getting there. we had already been on coron for 2 nights and we decided to spend our 3rd and final night at El Rio Y mar. we have spent the whole second day doing an island tour and then were making our way to el rio y mar afters at around 530pm. No one had informed us that you need to take a private boat there. Its still on the mainland on coron and by looking at the general map - one would presume that its connected by land/road... its not. So we ended up getting driven to some dingy pier ( where there was no one there) and then had to try and contact the hotel to pick us up... we were assisted by some guys who worked at club paradise who ended up helping us. We tried calling all the numbers on the website - several times but the rang out.... We thought for a second we were going to have to go all the way back to Coron town which was about an hour away. We did end up getting there, but it was alot more painful and expensive than first envisaged. They also charge a bit of a monopoly for transfers... 1500 return for a bangka boat which is shared with others and car. ( bit of a rip off, but you have no choice!). make the transfer cheaper and easier to manage for people. Make sure you phone numbers work!!

A hidden gem in between the lake and mountain
We have arrived last 22nd October and we were immediately checked in to our room. Prior to the arrival of our boat, a welcome song has been played and a cold towel and iced tea was handed over to us to refresh. Before heading to the room, we were given a brief orientation on the hotel 's facilities. Pros: if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place for you. The wifi are available on the entire island but expect some glitches as the resort is located in between the mountains and lakes. The staffs are so accommodating and sincere. Special thanks to Nikka, Darren for the mountain hiking and for the tour guiding. Patricia is always smiling . There are different activities everyday. you can use the kayak, snorkeling masks, fins and life vest for free. They have mini library, TV room, darts, table tennis and billiards also free for use. Special activities for kids. You can hike the mountain with guide available. You can also feed the fishes in the house reef. They are offering tours as well but almost double the cost considering the location which is understandable. Cons: You will not reach the resort without availing the airport transfer. (the resort is in the middle of the lake and mountain). The variety of the food during breakfast is limited but quite decent. The food are expensive. I have ordered Pork sinigang with 3 pieces of meat and good for 1 person cost Php 350!!! I've lost my lighter and bought it for Php 75!!!! Overall, I will definitely recommend this resort. I have enjoyed my stay and the tours. A must do is the dugong and pawikan watching!!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
