Your Travel Guide to Legazpi City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Legazpi City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For most Filipino travelers heading to Legazpi City, flying is the most efficient option. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific operate regular flights from Manila (MNL) to Legazpi International Airport (LGP). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book, but expect to pay anywhere from PHP 2,500 to PHP 6,000 for a round trip if you book your book flight in advance. From Cebu (CEB), direct flights are also available, though less frequent than from Manila. It's always best to check Traveloka for the latest flight schedules and prices.

If you prefer a more scenic and budget-friendly journey, taking a bus from Manila to Legazpi City is a viable option. Several bus companies, including Bicol Isarog and Cagsawa Travel, operate daily trips from terminals in Metro Manila (like Cubao and Pasay). The journey is long, typically taking between 10 to 12 hours, depending on traffic and stops. Bus tickets usually range from PHP 800 to PHP 1,500 for a one-way trip, with options for regular or executive class seating.

This option allows you to see more of the Philippine countryside as you travel south.

For those coming from Davao, the most practical way to reach Legazpi City is by flying, as land travel would be extremely lengthy. You would likely need to connect through Manila. Alternatively, if you are driving your own vehicle, the journey from Manila involves taking the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and then the Pan-Philippine Highway, which passes through Quezon Province and down to Bicol.

The total driving distance is around 500 kilometers, and it can take approximately 9 to 11 hours of continuous driving, not including stops. Toll fees will add to the overall cost of the trip.

Best Time to Visit Legazpi City

Legazpi City experiences a tropical climate, characterized by warm temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. The dry season generally runs from March to May, offering the most sunshine and the least amount of rainfall. This period is ideal for outdoor activities, including visiting Mayon Volcano's base, exploring nearby beaches, and enjoying the city's attractions without the interruption of frequent downpours. The weather is typically pleasant, making it a popular time for both local and international tourists.

The wet season, from June to February, brings more frequent rainfall, often in the form of heavy showers or typhoons, particularly from October to January. While this period might see fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, it can also disrupt travel plans and outdoor excursions. However, for travelers who don't mind occasional rain and are looking for a more tranquil experience, the shoulder months of the wet season can still be enjoyable.

It's always wise to check the weather forecast before your trip, especially if you are planning to visit during the typhoon season.

For a balanced experience, the months of March to May and November to February often provide a good compromise. You can enjoy relatively stable weather for outdoor activities while potentially avoiding the peak crowds and prices of the absolute dry season. This allows for a more relaxed exploration of Legazpi City and its surrounding natural wonders.

Bicol cuisine is renowned for its distinctive use of chilies and coconut milk, and Legazpi City is the perfect place to sample these flavorful dishes. Many small carinderias and restaurants in Legazpi City serve their own delicious take on this popular noodle dish.

All staff are very nice and accommodating. The hotel was clean, has a nice view and strategically located - a ride away from restaurants and malls. The food was nice. We just had a problem with the room air conditioning, it was not that cold and it was defective. Despite the attempt to increase the temperature, it didn’t work. They tried to transfer us to 2 different rooms, encountered the same problem. It was uncomfortable. Good thing was that the weather was cold so we can somehow deal with the temperature, so we decided to stay in our original room. If it was summer time, it would definitely cause too much inconvenience.

Small room but it's okay. The only problem was the air conditioner unit, as per the maintenance guy who went up to our room the unit detects the temp of the room. (I think it was stuck at 24 - 23 degrees, even if you adjust it with the remote the temperature won't go down.)

The hotel staff were very professional, friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is right next to the sea and you can see the beautiful Mayon Volcano. However, during our stay the wifi was down and even my own roaming internet access could not get any signal inside the room. The room was very poorly maintained. There was no window and ventilation. The room smelled of mould and you can actually see moulds around the air conditioning unit on the wall. My asthma was triggered during my very short overnight stay. The room itself was also very small. It had a queen size bed but it looked like it should only be for a single bed. The bath mat in the room was ripped and it had a big hole. The room was also quite dark. There was a dim bedside lamp and 1 ceiling light functioning. The other ceiling light was in need of replacement. I will not return to this hotel again.

the rate did not meet our expectations. it is too expensive for these experiences: the room looks old, the walls are made of cheap materials I can even here the phone vibrating from the next room! the aircon is not cooling enough, the floor is made of wood but not maintained well, there are ants on the table I don't even know where they're from, the check-in process takes long, our keycard was not even working and the location of the hotel is not friendly and is too hidden. they did not also give the breakfast stub upon check-in but instead we have to drop by the Front desk first before going to Ellis (ground floor and few meters away from hotel), and they served cold hot dog (for real) for breakfast with Ginisang amapalaya, which I think is not a good combination. overall, I was not impressed with the service and the product knowing that it is managed by Enderun.

It's very nice to have breakfast with the beautiful view of Mayon. I love the fresh air coming from the sea.The room is clean. However, I only stayed for one night since they are repainting the hallway and I have allergies on paints.

Not that really bad but can’t say great neither. Breakfast was poor since we weren’t given a choice. Only hotdog was offered. No enough toiletries also and there was a cockroach inside the room. Charging of addtl bed varied depending on the FO staff on duty.

The hotel is easy to find, very good location, described well in the webpage and all the same in person, the value for money is excellent, so cheap for its overall status. Almost similar to high end hotels!

Clean and comfortable. The mobile data is weak inside as well as their wifi itself. Love the hot and cold showers. Will definitely choose to stay here again!
