Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Metro Manila is the most common method. The primary gateway is Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offer frequent flights from various provincial capitals. Fares can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 6,000 or more, depending on the origin city and how far in advance you book your flight.

From NAIA, you can take a taxi or a ride-sharing service directly to Quezon City, a journey that typically takes 45 minutes to over an hour, with costs ranging from PHP 400 to PHP 700.

If you are traveling from nearby provinces in Luzon, bus travel is a practical and economical option. Major bus terminals in Metro Manila, such as those in Cubao and Pasay, serve numerous routes connecting to different regions. Buses to Quezon City are frequent, with fares generally ranging from PHP 500 to PHP 1,500, depending on the distance and bus company. The travel time can vary significantly due to road conditions, often taking 6 to 10 hours from the northern provinces.

For those driving from other parts of Luzon, major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) provide access to Metro Manila. From NLEX, you can take the Balintawak Exit and navigate through EDSA or other arterial roads to reach Quezon City. Toll fees apply, and the travel time depends heavily on traffic, which can be substantial, especially during peak hours. Planning your route using GPS and checking traffic updates is highly recommended.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

Quezon City, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season from November to April and the wet season from May to October. The dry season generally offers more pleasant weather for outdoor activities, with average temperatures ranging from 25°C to 32°C. This period, particularly from November to February, is often considered the best time to visit due to cooler temperatures and lower humidity, making exploration more comfortable.

The wet season, while bringing occasional heavy rainfall, can also offer a more budget-friendly travel experience as it's considered the off-peak period. Typhoons can occur during these months, so it's wise to monitor weather forecasts if you plan to travel between June and October. Despite the rain, many attractions remain accessible, and you can often find better deals on accommodations and flights during this time. The city's indoor attractions, shopping malls, and restaurants are always available, regardless of the weather.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Filipino cuisine is a delightful exploration of flavors, and Quezon City offers ample opportunities to savor its best. A must-try is **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish, typically made with chicken or pork braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. Its savory and tangy profile is a true representation of Filipino comfort food. You can find excellent versions in many local eateries, including those near your hotel.

Another essential dish is **Sinigang**, a sour and savory soup, most commonly made with tamarind broth, but other souring agents like guava or calamansi are also used. It's usually prepared with pork, beef, fish, or shrimp, along with a variety of vegetables. The comforting warmth and distinct sourness of Sinigang make it a beloved dish, especially during cooler or rainy days. Many restaurants in Quezon City serve this hearty soup.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, **Lechon Kawali** (crispy fried pork belly) and **Inihaw na Liempo** (grilled pork belly) are highly recommended. Lechon Kawali offers a satisfying crunch with its deep-fried exterior, while Inihaw na Liempo provides a smoky, tender, and flavorful experience. These dishes are staples in Filipino gatherings and are readily available in carinderias and restaurants throughout the city, offering a taste of celebratory Filipino dining.

Don't leave without trying **Halo-Halo**, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This refreshing concoction is a mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It's a perfect way to cool down, especially in the tropical heat. Many dessert shops and restaurants offer their own unique take on this popular treat, making it a delightful end to any meal.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

While generally a safe city, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas like markets and public transport. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly.

For emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911. It's also helpful to have the contact numbers for your embassy or consulate readily available. When using public transportation, stick to reputable services and be mindful of your belongings. For transportation within Quezon City, ride-sharing apps are widely used and offer a convenient and relatively safe way to get around. Always ensure the driver and vehicle match the details provided in the app.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for getting around the city. The staff are friendly and the security guard can speak Malay (Satpam an Hassan). Muslim tourists can eat breakfast which always provides seafood and egg options (omelette, omelette or sunny side up). Very close to the mall and North EDSA and Metro public transportation.

Bad room plumbing, the room smells bad 24/7. Also, I've put the sign to make the room up on the 2nd day of stay but when we got back, it 's still not made up. When I asked why, the staff who assisted told us that room cleaning must be called in the front desk. What the heck is this rule? Finally, since they didn't make our room up (despite our stay being a three-day stay), I just asked for a replacement of towels. It was acknowledged but I waited three hours until I was so sleepy already, but the towels didn't arrive. Eurotel north edsa staff, such bad service folks.

The room looked great! It 's just that the air-conditioning was not functioning well but I guess it has something to do with the heat. Worth while to have the pre-on checked though.

The only problem is the one-keycard policy per guest. So whenever you will go out of the room you will turn off everything in the room. You can opt to not do that but will need the assistance of their personnel to open the room for you since they have master keycard for every room. I already offered to pay for another but they won't allow it. It 's troublesome for the personnel being called upon every now and then. Kuddos to CYRUS who is very much willing to help despite tiredness, he still opens the room with smile 😃.

All in all the eurotel is ok for its price and location. Service fast. Check in check out. I want a free breakfast. complete. There is water everyday, there is hot coffee. My 3rd booking is here. Go to hotel tlga if you need to walk in manila. I don't want you to leave the bed that isn't full. He has 2 double foam glued. I hope they change all the beds.

Pros-spacious room, good breakfast, easy check in, clean linens and towels, clean rooms and hallways. Cons-aircons were old. 1st room (aircon not functioning properly) had to transfer room on 2nd day, 2nd room aircon (loud and noisy, water dripping), you have to follow up everytime you have request (tissue, towel for floor, aircon issue),

I was disappointed with the first room we're placed on the first day. But they got me very satisfied with the second one where we transferred to. Most of all, the customer's service was I like the most. I even requested for a room transfer and they took action on that quickly. Thanks also to the strong internet connection for I successfully finished my VRIS with no problems.

No rug provided when you get out of shower. I had to call the room service for that. No avaialable remote for the aircon. They told us to just turn on or off the aircon switch to regulate tenperature. Checking in also took longer around 30 mins before we got a room. Also the bed is just made of 2 single size mattress that were put side by side. The bed moves all the time separately since there are 2. It should have been a proper double size mattress.

It's okay, but I've been able to pair the room twice with no aircon or old stock. So it's a different smell. Hope they can change it so he'll pay for it so he'll have the nice room clean and no problem with the bed and aircon.

Great stay, one thing I love most was it's very near to the two malls SM North and Trinoma. SM savemore supermarket was just a few steps away. I like the ambience in the lobby you could feel that it was a Feb-ibig month. Thanks for the souvenir ..the heart ♥ shape and the wallets.

All the staff were very welcoming. The room was great! It was beyond what I expected because compared from my reservation before the lighting was low. Now it's just simply great! Good lighting, clean, comfy. It felt so homey. I expected more on the food though, but it was still delicious. Will surely book again. :) Still giving 5 stars for Eurotel North Edsa.

Takes too long in checking-in. Room was not yet done on check-in time scheduled. They kept us waiting but when I got mad and complained, they provided us a room immediately but a different room and they said, they gave us an upgraded room. We didn't need an upgraded room, all we need was a fast service.

It doesn't have window as I've requested, they should have inform me ahead of time. Also the first room that they gave smells like newly painted, we can't breathe easy. Then they transferred me to another room, it looks nice. But, when I used the bathroom the water drainage is clogged, there's almost no water in leaking in lavatory. The room doesn't have ready slippers for the guest and also no remote control for the AC so it's so cold and so uncomfy. We need to off the AC every now and then. We already addressed this to the manager of the Hotel, in all fairness they offer us to transfer in a suite room. However it would be hassle on our part, because we need to fix things again and it will take time just to transfer to another room. So we settled in that room with all the regrets we have inside. They should have thought of it earlier than ending in more and more complaints. This will be the first and last experience I will have in that hotel. Its unsatisfying compare to other Eurotel.
