Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, Quezon City is highly accessible. If you're flying in, major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate numerous flights daily to Manila's airports (NAIA Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 4). Fares can range from PHP 1,500 to PHP 5,000 or more, depending on the origin city, airline, and booking time. From the airport, you can take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or airport bus to reach Quezon City, with travel times varying from 45 minutes to over an hour depending on traffic.

If you're traveling by land, bus terminals in Cubao and Pasay are major hubs connecting Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. Numerous bus companies offer routes to Quezon City. For example, a bus trip from Baguio City to Cubao typically takes around 4-6 hours and costs approximately PHP 500-700. From these terminals, you can easily transfer to local transportation like jeepneys, taxis, or the MRT/LRT to reach your specific destination within Quezon City. You can book flight tickets and bus tickets conveniently through Traveloka.

Driving to Quezon City is also an option for those coming from nearby provinces in Luzon. Major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect to Metro Manila. Toll fees will apply, typically ranging from PHP 200 to PHP 500 depending on your starting point and route. Navigating within Quezon City itself involves a network of major roads and avenues, though traffic can be heavy during peak hours.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

The Philippines generally experiences a tropical climate, and Quezon City is no exception. The best time to visit is typically during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it ideal for exploring the city's attractions and enjoying outdoor activities. Temperatures usually range from 25°C to 33°C.

The wet season, from May to October, brings occasional to frequent rainfall, often in the form of heavy afternoon downpours. While this period might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, it can disrupt outdoor plans. If you choose to visit during this time, it's wise to pack an umbrella and be prepared for potential travel delays due to weather. Regardless of the season, Quezon City offers a wealth of indoor activities and dining experiences.

A must-try is **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish, featuring meat (usually chicken or pork) braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. You can find excellent versions in many local eateries and even in hotel restaurants. Its savory and tangy profile is a true taste of Filipino home cooking.

Another Filipino favorite is **Sinigang**, a sour soup typically made with tamarind broth and a choice of meat (pork, beef, fish, or shrimp) and vegetables like kangkong, radish, and tomatoes. The sourness is incredibly refreshing, especially on a warm day. Many restaurants in Quezon City serve this comforting soup, offering a delightful contrast to richer dishes.

These dishes are staples in Filipino gatherings and are readily available in many local carinderias and restaurants.

Don't leave Quezon City without trying **Halo-Halo**, the ultimate Filipino dessert. This colorful concoction is a mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It's a perfect way to cool down and satisfy your sweet tooth. Very convenient if you have to be at the Heart Center of the Philippines. Staff were all very helpful, couteous and kind!! Don’t skimp on the breakfast!! Public transportation is easily available. Area seems very safe and availability of food places are abundant. Will definitely keep in my list of hotels 🙂

This hotel is a five stories tall in a small area facing Malakas St and situated close to everything. As expected, louche k in lobby is small but the essentials are perfectly placed including the dining area. S

The place is a bit rustic and will need some improvements especially on the architectural design of the bathroom. However, It's a decent place for a short-term stay, and affordable. The staff are also very helpful and accommodating.

My stay was good. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, accommodating my requests and responding to my emails prior to my stay. The hotel is clean and amply updated; and the bedroom itself was quite adequate for the necessities of my stay.
