Your Philippines Travel Guide

Getting to Philippines from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to the Philippines is an exciting endeavor, with many domestic and international flights arriving daily. You can easily book flight tickets to Manila, which serves as the primary gateway to the rest of the country. From the airport, you can take a bus, rent a car, or use a private transfer service to reach your destination in Tagaytay, which is approximately a two-hour drive depending on traffic conditions.

For those coming from other major cities like Cebu or Davao, domestic flights are frequent and affordable. Once you land in Manila, the infrastructure is well-developed for tourists, with various transport options available to suit your budget. Whether you prefer the convenience of a private car or the local experience of a bus, getting to your hotel is a straightforward part of your journey.

It is recommended to plan your travel during off-peak hours to avoid heavy traffic, especially when leaving Manila. Using reliable apps to track your route and check for travel updates will help you manage your time effectively. The Philippines offers a diverse range of transport modes, and with a bit of preparation, you can navigate the country with confidence and ease.

Best Time to Visit Philippines

The best time to visit the Philippines is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, the weather is cooler and more pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. This is the peak tourist season, so expect more crowds at popular spots, but the trade-off is the beautiful, sunny weather that is perfect for exploring the landscapes of Cavite.

If you prefer a quieter experience, the shoulder months of May and October can also be good times to visit. While there is a higher chance of rain, you will find fewer tourists and potentially lower prices for accommodation. Regardless of when you choose to visit, the Philippines offers a warm welcome and a unique experience that changes with the seasons, ensuring every trip is special.

Food and Dining in Philippines — Filipino Must-Tries

No trip to the Philippines is complete without sampling the local cuisine. Adobo, a savory dish made with meat marinated in vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic, is a staple you must try. You will find it served in almost every local restaurant, and each region has its own unique twist on this classic recipe, making it a fascinating dish to explore throughout your travels.

Sinigang is another favorite, known for its sour and savory broth filled with vegetables and your choice of meat or seafood. It is the ultimate comfort food, especially on a cool Tagaytay day. For those with a sweet tooth, Halo-Halo is a must-try dessert. This colorful mix of shaved ice, evaporated milk, and various sweet ingredients is the perfect way to cool down after a long day.

Lechon, or roasted pig, is often the centerpiece of celebrations and is famous for its crispy skin and tender meat. You can find it in many specialty restaurants across the country. Finally, don't miss out on Pancit, a noodle dish that comes in many varieties and is a symbol of long life in Filipino culture. These dishes offer a true taste of the local heritage.

Local Culture, Safety and Essential Apps in Philippines

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. You will find that locals are generally friendly and eager to help, making it easy to feel at home. When interacting with locals, a simple smile and a polite greeting go a long way. It is also helpful to learn a few basic phrases in Tagalog, as this is greatly appreciated by the local community.

Safety is a priority for travelers, and the Philippines is generally safe for tourists. Always keep your belongings secure and be mindful of your surroundings in crowded areas. In case of an emergency, the national emergency hotline is 911. It is also wise to have a list of local contacts and your hotel's address saved on your phone for quick reference during your stay.

To make your travel easier, download essential apps like Grab for transportation, Google Maps for navigation, and Traveloka for managing your bookings. These tools are indispensable for modern travelers in the Philippines, providing real-time information and convenience at your fingertips. With these apps, you can navigate the country like a local and focus on enjoying your vacation.

The staff was amazing and very helpful. We had an issue with noise coming from the highway our first night. We were able to upgrade to a two bedroom room in the crystal tower which was much nicer. We also found that the food at the main restaurant was not to our liking.

It's not worth the price. Hotel is old needs more clening and renovation, It's also noisy you can hear people from outside. the wave pool water is dirty, I feel itchy after a long time in the pool water. The shower water is weak it will take long time to shower. Zip line, sauna etc a lot are under maintenance and only 1 restaurant is open.

To the eyes the property was pretty. There were very limited options as far as dining and the breakfast was nearly non existent. The spa was only able to offer partial services and partial recreational activities were available. I wish they would of mentioned these short comings on the web site prior to us booking.

We stayed during the Holy Week in the Philippines. It’s not my first time in the property so I recommended it to the family and since the wave pool is already operating, I thought of that it would be fun together with my baby. To cut the story short the housekeepers stole my phone in the room. They didn’t have the signage for do not disturb and request for clean up. So I assumed that they will not do a clean up unless you request the front desk. I left my Samsung phone on the table not expecting that they will clean up. I also left my bag with cash and good thing that these boys didn’t touch it. Normally if we check in I keep all the valuable stuff in the luggage and lock it, they didn’t have a vault. Because of course that is a temptation to whoever will clean it up. We reported in the management and the security and saw in the CCTV the guys who cleaner it up from 1057H to 1104H, clean up for 9 minutes done by 2 people. They didn’t even replace the toiletries and the coffe cup used was still there. Probably they were planning on how to escape and get the phone. And it wasn’t lunch time yet after going out from our room Cabin 2017 they went to the stock room and stayed for 15min. So what did they do..... we arrived at 1309h and saw them to the next room to us. So then the investigation started. And of course as usual they didn’t state in their affidavit that they stole it. It’s just a phone and probably the worth isn’t too much. But it isn’t about it. It’s the integrity

The resort was very outdated. We were given a room that was not worth it for the price that we paid for. The toilet and bathroom sink was broken, was told that somebody will fix it, we waited for 3 hours then nobody came to fix it. The manager moved us to a different room, but still furnitures were broken. The beds were not safe to sleep with, the frames were not as good as it should be on a resort like this. Also, their floating restaurant that offers supposed to be fresh fish, it was so awful, there was so little water around it, a lot of mosquitoes because the water was already dirty and smelly. Overall, it was really a bad experience! Not worth it for the price you will pay!

Our stay in Chateau Royale is not so good. It took more than 40 minutes waiting for us to be checked-in as the room was still being cleaned. When we enter the skyline building, it smell like an old place and upon entering the room, it was dusty. There was no towel and toilet paper. Unable to bear the smell of the room, we bought deodorizer and sprayed it all over the two bedroom unit.
