Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from other major cities in the Philippines, flying into Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila is the most common and efficient method. From NAIA, you can take a taxi, a ride-sharing service, or the airport bus to reach Quezon City. The travel time can vary significantly, from 45 minutes to over two hours, depending on the notorious Metro Manila traffic.

If you are traveling from Luzon, taking a bus is a more economical option. Numerous bus companies operate routes to various terminals in Metro Manila, including those accessible to Quezon City. Fares typically range from PHP 500 to PHP 1,500, depending on the origin city and bus class. From the bus terminal, you can then take a taxi, jeepney, or ride-sharing service to your specific destination within Quezon City.

Driving your own vehicle is also a viable option for those coming from nearby provinces. Major expressways connect to Metro Manila, leading you towards Quezon City. It's essential to be prepared for heavy traffic, especially during peak hours. Using navigation apps can help you find the most efficient routes. Remember to book your flight early for the best deals if you are flying.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Quezon City is no exception. The best time to visit is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect less rainfall and more sunshine, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the city's attractions. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 35°C.

The period between December and February is often considered the most pleasant, with slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity. This is also a popular time for both local and international tourists, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices. If you prefer fewer crowds and more budget-friendly options, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or late April.

The wet season, from May to October, brings frequent rain showers, which can sometimes be heavy and prolonged. While this season might deter some outdoor activities, it also means fewer tourists and lower prices for flights and hotels. If you don't mind occasional rain and are looking for a more relaxed and economical trip, the wet season can still be a good time to explore Quezon City.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City, like the rest of Metro Manila, is a culinary playground for Filipinos. When you visit, make sure to try Adobo, the unofficial national dish. This savory and tangy stew, typically made with chicken or pork braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns, is a staple in every Filipino household and restaurant.

Another must-try is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup that comes in various forms, most commonly with pork, shrimp, or fish, flavored with tamarind broth. Its distinct sourness is incredibly comforting, especially on a rainy day. You'll find many local eateries serving this hearty soup.

For a taste of something sweet and refreshing, Halo-Halo is a popular Filipino dessert. It’s a delightful concoction of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It’s the perfect treat to cool down with after a day of exploring the city. Many local restaurants and dessert shops offer their own versions.

Don't leave Quezon City without trying Lechon, a whole roasted pig known for its crispy skin and succulent meat. While often a centerpiece for celebrations, you can find restaurants serving delicious Lechon portions. Its rich flavor and satisfying crunch make it a truly Filipino culinary experience.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Quezon City, a polite greeting like "Magandang umaga" (Good morning) or "Salamat" (Thank you) goes a long way. Respect for elders is also a significant aspect of the culture, so showing deference is appreciated.

When it comes to safety, Quezon City is generally safe for tourists, but it's always wise to exercise caution, especially in crowded areas. Be aware of your surroundings, keep your valuables secure, and avoid displaying expensive items openly. It’s advisable to use reputable transportation services like taxis hailed from designated areas or ride-sharing apps.

In case of emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911. For local police assistance, you can contact the Quezon City Police District. It's also a good idea to have the contact details of your hotel readily accessible. Staying informed and prepared will ensure a more secure and enjoyable trip.

For navigating the city and staying connected, several apps are highly recommended. Grab is essential for transportation and food delivery. Google Maps is invaluable for navigation. For communication, WhatsApp or Messenger are widely used. Having these apps on your smartphone will greatly enhance your travel experience in Quezon City.

What we like most is that we don't have to travel too far to go on a staycation. It will be great if towels will also be provided with the accommodation. The pool area is way different from the pictures, it'll be great if there is proper maintenance and cleanliness maintained especially on the function room area. Hotel staffs were nice. It was a nice stay though!

Food were good but the serving of the viand was too little. Bathroom was not so clean and there was no bidet, I have to request for a dipper. I also requested for an extra chair. They gave me a non-standard room good for short stay when I booked for 3D2N. Over all our stay is fine since the staff are friendly and very accommodating.

The service was bad, the room is okay but the bathroom is smelly. The floor is sticky. The bed is old and not in good shape. Apparently you can only order when the chef is around mostly it's after 8 AM. I received my breakfast at 9 AM and I have no choice but not to get my breakfast at my 2nd day because I had an early check-out.

The staff kept on calling us early in the morning around 7am asking for us to check out immediately even if our check out time is 12 noon that day. The room for 8 people is not clean. The floor is all wet when we arrived in our room. The bed covers are dirty.

We were held at the lobby for more than 20mins prior to check in because they cannot find my reservation. Room had an awful smell similar to unchanged sheets (and the sheets had various stains as well), dusty floor and no trash can. Shower had sandy residue when you first open it (it kinda freaked me out). ACU was fine. TV was fine too. Pool was nice. Elevator was cool because of the glass type buttons.

We had online booking and checked in around 4pm then the receptionist told me that our checked out time is 4am. it's my first time to booked with app normally used other travel app both local and international based on experience the standard check in policy everywhere online booking is 14:00 for check in and 1200 check out.. (you can check in 2 beyond and check out on or before 12 noon the next day) most prices online are cheaper compared when you walk in. I showed the voucher they said maybe mistyped, maybe it means 12 midnight. So i told them it's military time 12 midnight is 00:00 hours.. I even explained to them how check in policy works why you need to check out 12 noon the next day and not maximize the 24 hours period.. they said the room price 1950 and I paid around 850 so I only paid 12 hours if I exceeded 4am i need to pay additional fees.. They're making me go nuts still I keep calm (it's on promo duh-from 1,500 plus went down 850) We need a hotel to sleep why on earth I will booked it if I know I need to check out by midnight or 4 am.. I don’t understand why hotels hires people who doesn't understand the system and not properly oriented you guys are front desk supposed to be helping us and making our stay comfortable. But it was worst. So I called booking site and within less than an hour they act on it and talk to the manager so my issues were resolved.. Good job and thanks to the Branch Manager Mr. Robert Villagracia I should have talk to him sooner instead of those front desk. Lastly we checked in room 516 the tv was broken, no trash can, stained toilet bowl. they transferred us to room 416 the room smells bad some water on the room floors and bathroom floor are wet and there are cockroaches on the table.. Elevator making me nervous seems to nearly stock up. Wifi are good anyway..

It wasn't good the facilities are already old stuffs. Inconvenient for their customer when you want to go or to buy something with your partner since the access card didn't work you must inform the receptionist to open your room.

1. I paid for 3 family room 2 persons per room... they were trying to cram us into a 1 bedroom 2 bed room.. 1 rm good for 2 persons... 2. The toilet on one family room doesn't flush well. 3. The rooms were never cleaned due to policy that the occupants have to be present for the room to be cleaned. 4. The bed sheets were dirty and have holes in them as well as the towels..

The only complain we have was that there was no room to room calls nor outside call. Guests can only dial to operator for room services.

That's why we do not say anything because he's good at the pool he's clean, the case in the rooms he just does not want because he's a little cocky, then the lock inside the room is broken so anytime you can go to inside.

Understand that whole place is not so clean because of the renovation, but beds linen and towels are dingy, and everything is dusty, we have a broken window in our bathroom, they don't have tissue. It is a little scary because of the dust inside the room and wifi is very poor.
