The Premier Suite is not worth the extra money. The Premier Seaview is AWESOME and is about the same size as the Suite. The restaurant is great. The grounds are clean and the pool is beautiful. The staff are kind and courteous. You need to call the number on your reservation to schedule a free boat to pick you up and take you to the private island that Fridays is on. The Coral Gardens are right across the channel, almost a stone's throw. Rent a small boat to take you there to snorkel!

The location is private and peaceful. The coral gardens are just a stone's throw away. The rooms are nice and they welcome you with a nice cucumber drink. The Premier Room Seaview is the best. We also booked the more expensive Premier Suite, but it wasn't as private or roomy as the Premier Room Seaview. The more expensive Premier Suite has low ceilings and less privacy. The wifi at the resort is not adequate for streaming music. You can't use video apps also with their wifi. (facebook and basic browsing only). The restaurant was great, with a nice menu and huge open walls looking out to sea. The pool is private and pretty. Very refreshing.

Booking your flights in advance, especially during peak seasons, is highly recommended to secure the best fares and ensure availability. Traveloka offers a wide selection of flights, making it easy to book flight options that fit your schedule and budget.

For travelers who prefer to drive, you can take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and then the STAR Tollway towards Batangas City. From Batangas City, you proceed to Batangas Port. This option offers flexibility, especially if you plan on exploring multiple areas within Oriental Mindoro or prefer the convenience of having your own vehicle upon arrival.

Best Time to Visit Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera experiences a tropical climate, with two main seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season generally runs from November to May, offering the most favorable weather for beach activities and water sports. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, lower humidity, and calmer seas, making it ideal for diving, snorkeling, and island hopping.

The peak tourist season typically falls between December and February, coinciding with the Christmas holidays and cooler weather in other parts of the country. While the weather is excellent, expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices during this period.

The wet season, from June to October, brings occasional rainfall, which can range from brief showers to more prolonged downpours. However, this doesn't mean you should avoid visiting during these months. The rain often occurs in the afternoon, leaving mornings clear and suitable for activities. The advantage of traveling during the wet season is that there are fewer tourists, leading to a more relaxed atmosphere and often more affordable rates for accommodations and tours.

For Filipino travelers who prefer a quieter experience and are not deterred by the possibility of rain, the off-peak months can offer great value and a more intimate encounter with Puerto Galera's charm.

For a balanced experience, the shoulder months of November and March to May can be particularly appealing. These periods often provide good weather without the peak season crowds, offering a sweet spot for enjoying Puerto Galera's attractions. Ultimately, the best time to visit depends on your priorities – whether it's guaranteed sunshine, fewer people, or budget-friendliness.

Food and Dining Near Puerto Galera — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

When in Puerto Galera, Filipino travelers should definitely explore the local culinary scene, which offers a delightful array of fresh seafood and regional specialties. One dish that is a must-try is **Sinigang na Isda**, a sour and savory soup, often made with fish like bangus or lapu-lapu, tamarind broth, and a medley of vegetables such as kangkong, tomatoes, and onions. The tangy broth is incredibly comforting and pairs perfectly with steamed rice, a staple in any Filipino meal.

You can find excellent versions of sinigang in many local eateries and restaurants around Puerto Galera, particularly those with a view of the sea.

Another local favorite that highlights the region's bounty is **Grilled Seafood**. Given Puerto Galera's coastal location, fresh catch is abundant. Imagine succulent prawns, squid, or fish grilled to perfection over charcoal, often seasoned simply with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of calamansi. Many beachfront establishments offer a "paluto" service, where you can select your fresh seafood from the market and have it cooked according to your preference.

This hands-on approach to dining allows you to savor the freshest flavors the ocean has to offer.

For those seeking something a bit more adventurous, **Kinilaw na Tanigue** is a Filipino ceviche that showcases the freshness of raw fish. Cubes of fresh tanigue (mackerel) are marinated in vinegar, with ingredients like ginger, onions, chili peppers, and sometimes coconut milk added for a creamy twist. The sharp, tangy flavor of the vinegar beautifully "cooks" the fish, creating a refreshing appetizer or side dish.

It’s evidence of the Filipino palate's love for bold, fresh flavors and is a staple in many coastal towns.

Don't leave Puerto Galera without trying **Laing**, a Bicolano dish that has found its way into the culinary landscape of nearby regions. It consists of taro leaves simmered in coconut milk with chilies and sometimes small pieces of pork or shrimp. The creamy, slightly spicy, and savory flavor profile of laing is unique and deeply satisfying, especially when served with hot rice. While originating from Bicol, its presence in Oriental Mindoro speaks to the interconnectedness of Filipino cuisine.

Look for it in local carinderias or restaurants that offer a wider range of regional dishes.

Finally, for a sweet ending, try **Halo-Halo**, a fitting choice for Filipino dessert. While available nationwide, enjoying a refreshing halo-halo by the beach in Puerto Galera adds a special touch. This colorful concoction is a delightful mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It’s the perfect way to cool down on a hot afternoon and offers a delightful medley of textures and flavors in every spoonful.

Many local vendors and restaurants offer their own unique versions, so be sure to sample a few.

Staff is courteous, the room is nice and large and luxurious. The food is good and not too pricey. The ambience and location of the hotel on its private island/beechfront is excellent.

Very refreshing.

given a room beyond check in time, staff reason was due to no water and electricity. Ask for glass of water as we order room service food, but unable to give as per the waiter, its a policy. instead, sent a bucket of ice chargeable of 120pesos and complimentary bottle of water. the room aircon leaking like raining inside. the shower clogged seems like u have a mini pool.

It was one of the best resorts I've ever been too. It was clean, we've had some minor issues with the room which they gladly fixed right away. We even extended our stay because one night was just not enough. It was just perfect for those who want to relax and stay in a nice place for a small amount of money. The beach was clean, the pools were clean, food was not THAT expensive, service was also great. I just have no negative comment about this place. I hope that they keep up all these in the years to come. Looking forward for our next stay there.

Great resort, with several activities included, such as free snorkeling gear, stand-up paddle, kayak etc. The beach towels are provided. Access is convenient: about 10 min from Muelle Pier. The room is large, and comfortable for 3 pax easily. The beach is clean and there is nice coral at 5m from the shore. Breakfast is good and inclusive. The food is good value for money. Cocktails are a bit over-priced especially regarding the content of alcohol. Little drawback: there are a lot of boats close to the beach (and sometimes sea planes). The noise is bothersome and it could be dangerous while swimming as they are passing very close from swimmers.

We had a great time! The staff at the hotel was AWESOME! The boat driver was great, the receptionist was great, everyone was great! I had lost my cell phone on the trip over and the staff went out of their way to help me retrieve it. The beach and pool on property were first rate. Everything was clean and organized. Scuba gear and Kayaking is FREE with the hotel stay. Food was okay, could be a little better, but okay. Yes, it's on a remote island, but it's so nice!
