Wonderful welcoming!
We spent 3 nights there and the least we can say is that Gerry and his staff are very welcoming! (He was picking us up at the airport) The rooms are nice (AC, private bathrooms, TV), the location is very good. So the price/value here is really good! I recommend this place.

The owner and staff are the highlight
We stopped for two nights on the 24 and 25 December for two nights. The owner Gerwin is very personable and genuinely helpful if you need something. Nothing seemed to be a problem, and I felt very safe in the hotel. The rooms are clean and well maintained, if a little dated. It is a budget lodge so in the price range I think the lodge is good value. The staff, location and safety is the highlight. Trike noise is inevitable when you stay in the town centre, we are in a developing country and trikes are the towns public transport. That is my only negative thought. The trade off is you can walk safely at night in the area and do not have to argue with trike drivers if you want to eat out at night. Talk to Gerwin as we found him so welcoming and sincere. He will give you a free travel iteniary you will be able to spend a day seeing part of the real philippines. Off the Lonely Planet trail.

Noisy but nice!
I stayed after having seen the place listed in Lonely Planet. It is a quirky place run by the owner Gerwin, who is also known as Gerry. The reception is up a set of stairs on the third floor. My room was basic but clean with a good Aircon unit and cable television. There is free WiFi which only seems to work in the corridor lounge area where you can also just hang out and read the newspapers that are supplied. For under 1000 pesos a night I couldn't complain. Roxas Avenue is very noisy but I had no trouble sleeping. I would stay again. Gerwin does provide useful information and he's very relaxed about late check out.

Noisy!
To much noise from the street, all night long. We had to pay for an A/C room even though we just booked a fan room, because they didn't have any available. Just that room left when we arrived. The bed was not so comfortable either. The location was ok, and the young guy working there was pretty nice. The older one was not service minded at all.

Overrated
First off, the reception desk was on the fourth floor and not on the third. Upon arrival I knew that I made a mistake booking this room. The staircase leading up to the 4th floor was dusty and unkempt. Despite the fact that we were expected (I saw my name listed on their whiteboard with corresponding date), we still had to wait as they had to make up the room. (There were no other guests). When we were shown our room , the floor was still wet because it was just recently mopped with a filthy mop and I can smell the dirty water used in the mop. We asked to be transferred to another room to which they obliged, the next room did not have the smell although it had a shared bathroom. The room's window faced out to Roxas avenue and it can be noisy if you want a good night sleep and unfortunately there was a karaoke bar near the room so we can hear the howling of a woman (contrary to popular belief, not all Filipinos can sing well). I would not recommend to any of my friends, even with the price. Internet was spotty in the room so I had to get out to the corridor to get a good signal.
