Booked our stay at Go Hotels via Traveloka a day before our check-in. The hotel’s location’s great accessible to most restaurants and nearby luxury hotels. The room, bed and bath is squeaky clean. And a surprise, toilet and bath has separate doors! Which we loved! We went in earlier than the standard check-in time so we went for a quick samgyupsal treat (Don Day) nearby. Mr. Receptionist (with his cute smile) and Manong Guard willingly assisted us to keep our backpacks in a secured storage. No inconveniences at all! Thanks Go Hotels! And thanks Traveloka, you never fail us.

Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, Quezon City is highly accessible. The primary gateway is the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila. Major local airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate frequent flights to Manila from various provincial capitals. Flight durations range from 30 minutes to over two hours, depending on your origin. Fares can vary significantly, but booking in advance through Traveloka can help you secure competitive prices.

From NAIA, you can take a taxi, ride-sharing service, or the airport bus to reach Quezon City, a journey that typically takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.

If you prefer land travel, bus terminals in Cubao and Pasay City serve as major hubs for inter-provincial bus routes. Numerous bus companies offer daily trips to Metro Manila from Luzon's northern and southern regions. For example, a bus trip from Baguio City to Cubao takes approximately 4-6 hours, with fares generally ranging from PHP 500 to PHP 800. From these terminals, you can easily connect to Quezon City via taxi, ride-sharing apps, or local public transport like jeepneys and MRT/LRT lines. Planning your trip and considering to book flight tickets can save you time and effort.

Driving to Quezon City is also an option for those coming from nearby provinces in Luzon. Major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect to Metro Manila's road network, leading into Quezon City. Toll fees apply, and travel times can vary greatly due to traffic. For instance, a drive from Pampanga might take 2-3 hours, while from Batangas, it could be 3-4 hours. Familiarizing yourself with Metro Manila's road systems or using GPS navigation is highly recommended.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

Quezon City, like much of Metro Manila, experiences a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season from November to April and the wet season from May to October. The coolest months are typically December to February, with average temperatures around 27-29°C, making this period ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the city. The weather is generally sunny and less humid, perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the city's many attractions.

The months of March to May mark the hottest part of the year, with temperatures often exceeding 35°C. While it can be quite warm, this period is still popular for travel, especially around the Holy Week holidays. The wet season, from June to October, brings frequent rainfall, often in the form of heavy afternoon downpours. While this might disrupt some outdoor plans, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices, offering a different kind of travel experience for those who don't mind the occasional rain shower.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City is a culinary hotspot, offering a diverse range of Filipino dishes that reflect the nation's rich gastronomic heritage. A must-try is the classic Adobo, a savory dish of meat (usually chicken or pork) braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. You can find excellent versions in many local eateries, from casual carinderias to more established restaurants. Another beloved dish is Sinigang, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth and your choice of meat or seafood, often with a variety of vegetables.

For those seeking comfort food, Kare-Kare is a popular choice. This rich stew features oxtail and vegetables in a thick, savory peanut sauce, traditionally served with bagoong (shrimp paste). The complex flavors and textures make it a satisfying meal. Another Filipino favorite is Lechon, a whole roasted pig known for its crispy skin and tender meat. While a whole lechon is for celebrations, many restaurants offer lechon kawali (fried pork belly) or lechon liempo (roasted pork belly) as delicious alternatives.

Don't leave Quezon City without trying Sisig, a sizzling dish made from chopped pig's face and ears, seasoned with onions, chili peppers, and calamansi. It's a popular pulutan (bar snack) but also a satisfying main course. For dessert, Halo-Halo, a refreshing mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream, is the perfect way to cool down on a warm day. Exploring the food scene is a key part of any Filipino travel adventure.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals in Quezon City, a friendly demeanor and respectful attitude go a long way. It's common to use terms like "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or those in authority as a sign of respect. While generally safe, like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items openly.

For safety, it's advisable to stick to well-lit and populated areas, particularly at night. If you encounter any issues, emergency numbers for the Philippine National Police are readily available. It's also a good practice to inform someone of your itinerary. Using reputable transportation services, whether taxis hailed from designated areas or ride-sharing apps booked through your phone, adds an extra layer of security.

To enhance your travel experience, several apps can be very useful. Grab is essential for transportation and food delivery, making it easy to get around and dine conveniently. Google Maps is invaluable for navigation, helping you find your way through Quezon City's streets. For communication, WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger are widely used by Filipinos. Having these apps installed on your smartphone will streamline your trip and keep you connected.

Everything was fine for a budget hotel. I didn't have time to take photos, but I think it's very comfortable for two or three days. Luckily, I had a lot of activities in Quezon, and the access to many places was pretty good.

The hotel is clean and the bed is soft and comfortable. Everything is okay except that you can hear the noise from other room.

I just can't understand why it is prohibited to eat inside the room.

The location is right at the middle of Quezon City, walkable going to Tomas Morato. They offer breakfast buffet at an affordable rate.

I didn't know that there was a promo and it was cheaper to walk-in than to book online, but over all, I can say that the hotel is clean, near to most places in QC! highly recommended.

Pleasant stay. Staff were courteous. A bit noisy in the corridor though - thin walls.

If there is one thing that I have to complain about, the volume range of the TV would not go beyond 33. Not all channels have clear or audible sounds so I was constrained to skip watching a favorite program.
