What Guests Say About Their Stay

Location is very accessible. Staff is very nice and accommodating. Room is clean and air-conditioning works well. Rooms aren't soundproof, you can hear whenever someone rings the bell at night. There's a water dispenser in the hallway. You get toilet paper, thin bars of soap, no shampoo and small towels. The pillows we got were too hard and that made sleeping a bit difficult. Overall, it's a good place. Recommended if you need someplace cheap to stay in Legazpi. Worth its price.

Similar to early check-in, this is subject to availability and may incur an additional fee. If a late check-out is not possible, the hotel will likely offer luggage storage services, allowing you to continue enjoying Legazpi City without your bags.

Your Travel Guide to Legazpi City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Legazpi City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For many Filipino travelers, the most convenient way to reach Legazpi City is by air. Major airlines operate flights from Manila (Ninoy Aquino International Airport - NAIA) to Legazpi International Airport (LGP). Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Fares can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets, but budget-friendly options are often available, especially during off-peak periods. Booking in advance is highly recommended.

If you prefer a more scenic and budget-conscious journey, traveling by bus is a viable option. Numerous bus companies operate routes from Metro Manila (specifically from terminals like Cubao or Pasay) to Legazpi City. The trip is considerably longer, usually taking between 9 to 12 hours, depending on traffic and the number of stops. Bus fares are significantly lower than airfare, making it an attractive choice for those with more time and a tighter budget. Overnight buses are common, allowing you to sleep through most of the journey.

For those coming from other parts of Luzon, driving is also an option, though it's a long journey. The Pan-Philippine Highway provides the main route. This option offers the most flexibility, allowing you to stop at various points of interest along the way. However, it requires significant driving time and stamina. Regardless of your chosen mode of transport, Legazpi City is well-connected, ensuring you can reach it from most major points in the Philippines.

Best Time to Visit Legazpi City

Legazpi City experiences a tropical climate, characterized by warm temperatures and humidity throughout the year. The best time to visit for most Filipino travelers seeking pleasant weather and outdoor activities is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to May. During these months, rainfall is less frequent, and the skies are often clearer, offering better views of the iconic Mayon Volcano and making it ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings.

The period between November and February is particularly favorable, with slightly cooler temperatures and lower humidity compared to the hotter months of March to May. This makes it comfortable for sightseeing and engaging in outdoor adventures. While the rainy season (June to October) can bring occasional typhoons and heavy downpours, it also means fewer crowds and potentially lower accommodation prices. If you don't mind the possibility of rain, visiting during this time can still be rewarding, especially if your itinerary includes indoor activities or you are prepared for the weather.

Food and Dining Near Legazpi City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

When in Legazpi City, indulging in local Bicolano cuisine is a must. One of the most famous dishes is Bicol Express, a rich and spicy stew made with pork, coconut milk, chilies (siling labuyo), and shrimp paste (bagoong). The fiery kick is characteristic of Bicolano cooking and is a flavor profile many Filipinos enjoy. You can find authentic Bicol Express in many local eateries and restaurants throughout the city.

Another local delicacy to savor is Laing, which features taro leaves simmered in thick coconut milk with dried fish or pork and plenty of chilies. The creamy texture and spicy flavor make it a unique and satisfying dish. It’s often served as a side dish or as part of a larger meal. Trying Laing is an essential part of experiencing the authentic taste of the region.

For seafood lovers, fresh catches from the nearby seas are abundant. Grilled fish, prawns, and squid are commonly prepared and are incredibly delicious, especially when seasoned simply to highlight their freshness. Many restaurants offer platters of grilled seafood, perfect for sharing. Don't forget to try Kinunot, a dish made from shark or stingray meat cooked in coconut milk with ginger, onions, and chilies, offering a different yet equally flavorful Bicolano experience.

Finally, for those with a sweet tooth, try the Pili nuts, which are native to the Bicol region. They are often candied or made into pastries and delicacies. You can find pili nut bars, tarts, and candies in local pasalubong centers, making them a perfect souvenir to bring home. These culinary experiences are integral to understanding the culture and flavors of Legazpi City.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Legazpi City

Legazpi City, like most of the Philippines, is known for its warm and hospitable people. Filipinos are generally respectful of elders and traditions. When visiting churches or more formal settings, it's advisable to dress modestly. Learning a few basic Filipino phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) and "Magandang umaga/hapon/gabi" (Good morning/afternoon/evening) can go a long way in fostering positive interactions with locals.

Safety in Legazpi City is generally good, but as with any urban area, it's wise to remain aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded places. Avoid displaying expensive items openly. It's also a good practice to use reputable transportation services. I booked this room overnight thinking the location was near the city center and to have a comfortable stay. I tried to ask for an earlier check-in because I arrived so early from a flight only to know that they charge 100php for each hour, which I politely declined. To my horror, I wasn't aware this was a RedDoorz brand which I was avoiding due to a negative experience of going to a wrong location which happened again this time. So, I arrived initially at their other location so I booked another car to go to the right one which was hard to find by the way since there were no signs of golite hostel at all. So we had to ask people where was it as the pin location was also not exactly correct. Voila, the place was just decent for a 500-700 peso stay similar to a motel. They ask for 300 deposit which I don't know what for since there were no minibar or anything. The amenity was was a toothbrush, toothpaste and shampoo/conditioner in a sachet. The toilet's condition wasn't that clean, at least for me. The worse was the condition of the towels they provide. Apart from it not being uniform, one was gray the other white, worse was the white one seemed like an overused towel. The water pressure was also quite slow. You need to wait out some time to fill a small bucket of water. Never coming back.

Our stay was great. The room is new, but when I'm travelling I'm very particular with the comfort room. They don't have hot and cold shower, their shower is quite rusty, and we had to wait for an hour to have a water in the faucet. But the good thing, they allowed us to extend for additional hour.

First, the reception area had no one to receive us. When we entered our room, there were no pillows and no towels. We had to ask it to the poeple around the hostel. The shower valve is broken. When we check out, there were no one to do the checkimg out, so I left the key. The only saving grace for this review is the soze of the room. The room was bigger than I expected. There were no security around. There so many things to improve. The owner lacked guidance to the people managing it.

Super lap at the airport 5 mins walk to the gym, a jeep to smoothie and if the case was a bit stinky and not good, although the staff was quiet and friendly, my room was not just nice enough to be out of bed , there is no refrigerator just right.

Pros: thumbs up for the superior room. it was big and spacious. relaxing indeed cons: no wifi but if you have a data on your phone, well not a problem at all. - towel is small and has thin texture.

There is no wifi in this hotel. When we booked the room, it is stated that there is wifi. The water dispenser is always unplugged. you wouldn't get cold and hot water. You can order food in the front desk but it is not available until later in the day. we tried ordering around I think 8-9 am but it is not yet available. We ordered again for lunch and the food is actually okay (don't expect fried rice on your silog meal). There is an unpleasant smell in the sink and when you try to use the shower. We were suppose to stay in this hotel with our friends but their booking was canceled a day before the stay. They booked 3 rooms. The reason is "unexpected issues with the rooms". The hotel asked if they could cancel their booking on the website (they used other website, not this app). It ended up the hotel canceled the booking. The location is okay, very near the airport and you are a jeepney ride away from the commercial establishments.

They provided just a small towel and a tissue paper. No toiletries. No wifi. Even the building has no signage. We had a problem with the shower. It produces limited amount of water. The water also smells bad. Anyway this is a cheap stay so you get what you paid.

It will be best if there is hot and cold shower and the towel is good to cover the body and not to wipe wet hair only. Hope they can change the blanket also. Room was clean and the location was so near the airport.

Customer service needs improvement but the place itself is very convenient. 5 to 10 minutes walk to the airport, 1 jeepney ride to downtown, and they offer big rooms with balcony overlooking Mt. Mayon. Though our room has no hot and cold shower but cr is spacious enough.

The place was clean, for the price of 461 each person we got sold. We booked 2 rooms. The all around receptionist who's name I think is Mike, was very accommodating we came earlier around 630 am and he allowed us to leave our stuff at the reception area without additional cost since our check in time is at 2pm. We stayed there for two days and I must say I had a complete rest at night. Good job! Thank you for making our stay comfortable.

As per hotel details, they have Free Wifi however, there is none. Also, the droplets of the rain is directly fall on the back of the aircon which disturbs us while sleeping.
