Beautiful Beach, Dive Spot in front of the resort...
Diving is amazing with scuba crew diveshop which is the partner of the resort. Resort has a new boat which is the biggest diving boat that can bring lots of divers. It has more rooms now with own bath and toilet inside the rooms. Staff will clean up the rooms everyday, and you dont need to tell them. The restaurant is available if you do some orders. Breakfast is not included in the room rate so you have to order separate. They had standby cook if you do some food orders. Staff are honest and very friendly to all the guest. I would recommend this to all my friends. They cleaned the swimming pool everyday, so if you wish to get a diving course , just come here, they do the discover scuba in the pool. Had a great time in this resort....

Such potential wasted!!!
Beautiful mansion on the waters edge facing Apo Island. great reef Snorkelling 200 meters to the right. Good swimming immediately in front and well shaded beachfront. But unfortunately the whole place was filthy. The bathrooms mostly shared were tired with years of grime. The food aside from the Pizza was abysmal. With a lot of care and updating of equipment this could be a four or five star resort. It has the potential to be one of the best places we stayed in seven weeks travelling in the Philippines. We fervently hope that whoever owns this property will realise its potential and the need for re investment.

Never have I found a worse hotel outside of Africa
Please be aware that I am a seasoned traveller having visited more than 60 countries. I have never rated a hotel one star before, and it barely makes that. There are always people who are dissatisfied but I am not usually one, having travelled extensively in the third world, expecting therefore different standards than the first world. This place was dirty and insect( amongst them roach) infested. My wife refused to enter the pool because she suspected that they did not even wash our towels ...just put them out to dry, consequently rightly or wrongly she was dubious of the sanitary condition of the water. They did not clean the room daily. The shared bathroom was dark, dirty, at times the water was turned off and had been at best cursorily cleaned some time before. They were hard water accretions and grime in the shower, tub and the handbasins. The tiles were black and the room dark so it was difficult to see the extent of the dirt. The shower head did not give an even spray and was cold, the bathtub which was non functional had not been cleaned for some time. The sleeping room was similarly dirty with accumulated dust and grime behind the inadequate wardrobe.we could not make many of the lights work and those did work did not have light shades. The bed however was firm and comfortable and the view from the balconey good although there was only one lounging chair for the 'executive suite'. Breakfast was essentially a joke: bread, margerine, marmalade and bananas. There was brewed coffee but for those who do not desire caffeine..bring your own.The staff were very pleasant but extremely lazy...it took more than an hour to get a cheese sandwich,a hamburger and fries. The sandwich was pretty awful, I don't know when the cheese last saw a cow. The burger was equally disappointing but the fries were excellent. Upon checkout they tried to charge us a different rate than previously agreed to and so we had to argue the price. Also I subsequently discovered $100 dollars was missing from my wallet.....stuff happens and I cannot prove that the money was taken by the staff but considering everything else anything is possible. There was no safe in the room. The beach was nice but at times strewn with the litter from people eating picnics on the hotel grounds and the view was wonderful

Only if you're on a tight budget
Looked good from the outside but sadly, the facade was the best part about this place. The entrance is way too narrow getting a sedan through the gates is a bit tricky. None of the rooms had a private bathroom so all guests shared the 2 bathrooms, one of which looked dark & scary so I didn't use it. No hand soap in either toilet. Furniture looked old & dated. A/C in the master bedroom was weak the room only cooled down at night. We shared the balcony with another room with an A/C that constantly dripped so they put a bucket to catch the water but it quickly filled up so there was a growing puddle on the balcony. The people (staff) were nice but our nightly rate kept changing depending on who you were speaking with. Check out took a full 30 minutes because the card machine kept timing out. This place could be so much better if they were to do some upgrades...the existing photos that others posted paint an accurate picture. Would not recommend it to others & would not go back.

diving trip to Dauin
where to start, i originally booked el dorado resort but after 1 night in there shoe box rooms i had to look for more space. well if space is what you need then this place has a great room in comparison however thats about all the good news i can tell you. We stayed in the big room called executive suite and on 1st glance looks tired but acceptable like most b&b's of this nature. Its a shared bathroom however which when we checked in was not an issue as we where the only guests using it. I guess its luck of the draw if you are to get clean joint users or not but either way we were told its cleaned daily by a staff member, the only thing i noticed over a 10 day stay was the replacement of 1 toilet roll a day and the hand towel that you would also expect to be changed remained there for the duration of my 10 nights and god knows how long before that. the lights in the rooms and bathrooms dont work maybe only 10% which again you dont notice when you 1st look at the place and black tiles where the choice of the owner so shaving is next to impossible as i cant see a thing in there. maybe just as well otherwise it might truly show the filthy walls and floor. coming from western standards this place would only pass fit for a cockroach and see them i did while taking my morning shower!! now for the main bedroom, it could be so nice but due to the lack of upkeep the failed lighting system is terrible, the coving is spectacular with halogen up lights its a shame none of the bulbs work to see the impressive thing at night and i put that down purely to the owner saving money on bulbs so she opted to surface mount low energy bulbs as an after thought which look ugly and detract from the rooms appeal. behind the main ''head board'' and i say that in quotes there is a panel of around 9 control panels that once upon a time controlled the rooms ambient lighting and fan systems which are nothing but dust traps and ornaments that do nothing. many things have been retro fitted after the previous has failed, so it comes down to either maintenance cost or refusal to fix. so the view is great and if no noisy guests is very nice to hear the sea, however if you wish to sleep with the doors open be warned the mosquito blinds are so perished you may as well not bother using them and take your chances. The air con unit in the room is old and not cleaned regularly maybe never! so it struggled to cool the room so i asked for an additional fan to sleep. The bed is comfortable !! cleanliness is not good in the rooms no shock there then! no bed side table which is odd and really inconvenient so you have to put cups and things behind your head yet the room allows space for one or 2, again table in room would also help but all you get is a old warn coach that ends up being a dumping ground. the wardrobe is below the tv with a safety lock box however when i asked for the key apparently the last guest lost it and they have done nothing about replacing a $2 lock instead they leave it as a open unit. there is next to no space to unpack clothes so its a case of leave all you stuff in suitcases. Food, breakfast is the worst i have ever seen you only get bread and a banana with either tea or coffee to which they ran out of tea for a few days (great management to keep check on stock levels funny enough the same happened with water and beer) the 1st morning i was giving a breakfast menu so i decided to just take some bacon and use the bread to make a sandwich not knowing they were going to surcharge me to which i refused to pay not only due to the lack of quality it was but for the fact the room rate said includes breakfast. had a pizza one night after they told me its good, it was revolting the only thing edible was the chicken tonola but we soon found DAUIN DIVE CAFE 5mins walk away se we eat breakfast lunch and dinner there for the remainder of the stay. Diving they have no fully employed dive instructor here so they call up a local guy, there flat fee is 3850 peso for 3 dives with equipment so i did a couple as i thought it was cheap compared to the area. The 1st guy i had a philipino guy named pat was great i then had another guy called neil also great but my 3rd one called mark an american was terrible. 1st dive his computer was set to nitrox and we were on air, the 2nd dive after being all geared up and in the water found out his fin strap was broken so delayed the dive fixing it, 3rd dive he swims off from me at 30m deep when i warn him i have 5min left till deco and i mean swims right out of sight so i decide to make my way back to shore, we finally meet up later on and he tells me he went into deco. terrible for a 1 on 1 session. After that experience i decided to shop around and 2 houses down on the beach is a place called Harold's dive shop which is the dauin branch of the main place in dumaguete, anyway if you come here to dive book though them, the same 3 dives on the coast will cost only 3000 peso and you also get lunch and neil and pat work there. i stored my equipment in gracey's dive shop (which nobody knows what is theres and the place can get very messy due to nobody taken care of it) and this is the main reason i decided to write this review. my boots where lent out to another diver and returned unwashed with sand all over them without my permission and damaged heels with torn fabric. this is the day of check out when all my other equipment is dry i have ringing wet boots to pack and fly with which is totally unacceptable so i challenged the staff to why this was to which they replyed they thought it was there equipment! i told them it was hanging in a area with my new things yet when i went to pack all my things they were with all there other boots ( totally different make and design and thickness) they informed me there were used by another diver so i explained to the less then intelligent members that if i were to return there items damaged that i would have to pay so i expect the same in return to be compensated. i requested for graceys (owner) number to call and i explained the situation. to no surprise she called her team up and replied saying shes not liable and the items were not lent out but only tried on so basically lying to me and calling me stupid as i know if my wetsuit is bone dry from the previous days dive and my boots are of a thiner material (all washed out by my own hands and hung up) with sand all over them and wet not hanging up like i left them then 2+2 = 4. So my main tip here is dont dive though this shop but use next door they also do apo island much cheaper! The staff they dont clean the rooms unless you ask them to, they sit about on the phones all the time and play loud music from time to time so you have to inform them that guests may not want to hear it all the time. if you have a complaint they normally dont know how to react and instead look at you blankly and fail to do very much to be honest. Long and short this place is good for a budget of 1900 a night room but dont expect much try to hold back some money incase of problems as unfortunalty i paid all i owed when i owed it so had nothing to haggle with. i will not stay hear again.
