Tucked away in the Madaum area in Tagum City is Hijo Resorts Davao. Originally a banana plantation, the sprawling 760-hectare property uses its beautiful natural landscape to encourage sustainable tourism and environment conservation.
Guests can choose to stay in the Banana Beach Casitas, which are tropical style-villas that sit on a four-kilometer stretch of soft sand, or the Plantation House. The casitas come with modern luxuries such as split-type air conditioning, a TV with satellite cable, and free WiFi access. All accommodation types come with a mini refrigerator, a safety deposit box, an electric kettle,a tumble dryer, and a spacious seating area. The en suite bathrooms come with a bidet, a hot and cold shower, and a premium set of toiletries.
There are two dining options available, The Spot, a halal restaurant that showcases indigenous recipes from the Tausug and Kalagan tribes; and Banana Beach Restaurant and Bar, a casual farm-to-table restaurant that serves unique Filipino and international fare made from the freshest ingredients sourced locally.
As part of the experience, guests can join a guided tour of the plantation and learn about the banana and coconut industry as well as the conservation efforts of the resort. River tours and forest tours are also offered. Meanwhile, those looking to stay inside the resort can take a dip in the pool instead. Billiards, chess, and table tennis are also available on the lanai.
The Francisco Bangoy International Airport is a one hour and 15-minute car ride away from Hijo Resorts Davao.
