The building is like new, clean and close to the beach and restaurants. The only issue is the shower water on the third floor is pretty slow but manageable.

Your Travel Guide to Panglao, Panglao Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Panglao, Panglao Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For most travelers coming from Manila and other major Philippine cities, the most convenient way to reach Panglao, Panglao Island is by air. You can book flight tickets to the Bohol Panglao International Airport (TAG). Airlines like Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific operate flights from Manila to Bohol, with travel times typically around 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Fares can vary, but booking in advance can secure cheaper rates.

Once you land at TAG, Hotel Pressie by SMS Hospitality is a short drive away, approximately 2.32 kilometers. Taxis and pre-arranged transfers are readily available at the airport. For those seeking more budget-friendly options, tricycles or local vans can also be hired, though they might take slightly longer. Planning your transport from the airport in advance can save you time and potential hassle upon arrival.

While flying is the quickest method, some travelers might consider a ferry journey, though this is less common for direct travel to Panglao from Luzon. Ferries typically operate from Cebu to Tagbilaran City port, which is near Panglao. From Tagbilaran port, you would then take a taxi or tricycle to reach your accommodation. This option is more time-consuming but can be an alternative for those who prefer sea travel.

Best Time to Visit Panglao, Panglao Island

Panglao Island, Bohol generally enjoys a tropical climate, making it a year-round destination. However, the dry season, typically from December to May, is considered the peak tourist period. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and calmer seas, which are ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and water sports. This is when many Filipinos choose to take their vacations.

The wet season runs from June to November. While this period can bring occasional rainfall, it doesn't usually mean continuous downpours. Often, the rain comes in short, intense bursts, usually in the afternoon, leaving the rest of the day clear and pleasant. Traveling during the wet season can offer a more laid-back atmosphere and potentially lower accommodation prices, making it a good time for budget-conscious travelers.

For the best balance of good weather and fewer crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months, such as late May to early June or late November to early December. This timing allows you to enjoy favorable weather conditions while avoiding the peak season rush. Regardless of when you choose to visit, Panglao offers its unique charm and beauty.

Food and Dining Near Panglao, Panglao Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Bohol's culinary scene offers a delightful array of flavors that reflect its coastal location and agricultural richness. When in Panglao, be sure to try fresh seafood, a staple in the region. Grilled fish, prawns, and squid are commonly available at local eateries and restaurants, often prepared simply to highlight their natural taste. Look for places along Alona Beach for a wide selection.

Another must-try is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers, creating a tangy and refreshing dish that is perfect for the tropical climate. It’s a dish that showcases the freshness of local ingredients and is a popular appetizer or light meal.

For those with a sweet tooth, try the local delicacies made from coconuts and bananas. You might find various types of bibingka or puto, often infused with local flavors. Bohol is also known for its peanut kisses, a crunchy meringue-like cookie, which makes for a great pasalubong (souvenir). These sweet treats offer a delightful end to any meal.

Don't forget to sample some of the local fruit shakes. Mango, pineapple, and buko (young coconut) shakes are widely available and incredibly refreshing, especially after a day under the sun. These simple yet delicious beverages are a perfect way to cool down and enjoy the tropical flavors of the Philippines.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Panglao, Panglao Island

Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and Bohol is no exception. When interacting with locals, a friendly demeanor and a smile go a long way. It's customary to use "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or showing respect. Understanding and respecting local customs will enhance your interactions and overall experience in Panglao.

When it comes to safety, Panglao is generally a safe destination for tourists. However, like anywhere, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit places late at night. It's also a good idea to know the local emergency numbers, though these can usually be accessed through your hotel.

For your convenience, consider downloading a few essential apps before your trip. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is crucial for getting around. Ride-hailing apps might be available for transport, though local options like tricycles and taxis are more common. A translation app can be helpful if you plan to venture into less touristy areas, and of course, the Traveloka app is essential for managing your bookings.

The property itself is good but the area is a bit chaotic due to the ongoing construction. Staff are great. My main concern is that I felt unsafe to walk through the small alley with all the trucks and workers. One time I had to squeeze myself to get into the entrance of the building because of the truck outside.

I reported to a staff member that the toilet flush was not working, but unfortunately, no action was taken during my stay. This lack of attention to a reported issue was disappointing and affected my overall experience.

Good reception. Room was clean with towels. Bathroom clean. No shower pressure though. But when I left my phone charger there for 24 hrs it had been found in my room and was held by reception

Great location close to all the restaurants and stores. Room was very clean and the staff were very helpful. Perfect for a few days of diving in Panglao.

The property itself is good but the area is a bit chaotic due to the ongoing construction. Staff are great. My main concern is that I felt unsafe to walk through the small alley with all the trucks and workers. One time I had to squeeze myself to get into the entrance of the building because of the truck outside.

We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, the room was clean and airconditioned. However, the water pressure was so low. Also, we were informed that the breakfast will be from 6 am to 9 am but the staff are still sleeping at 6:30 am.

For an air B and B accommodation it’s acceptable considering it’s in the center of Panglao, close to everything.

Pros: Walking distance to Alona Beach, many dining options within the vicinity Cons: Had to pay for kids’ breakfast (not included in the complimentary breakfast), booked a family room for five but was given a standard room by mistake for the first night (transferred to family room on the following day)

The building is like new, clean and close to the beach and restaurants. The only issue is the shower water on the third floor is pretty slow but manageable.
