A quiet place just like what we were needed. Although the air conditioning in our room was not that helpful during daytime, it was still comfy to relax and chill.
I love Islandfront. Our stay was really comfortable and relaxing.
Mixed emotions about this hotel. Mostly good but that's maybe because I chose to see the silver lining in the situation I found myself in. cleanliness - the rooms are clean but some rooms (yes I used more than one room in my 3 day total stay) have dusty floors and/or balconies. Maybe because the road is nearby and the vehicles cause the dust to be everywhere, but still they should try their best to keep it clean. Most common areas however are passably clean. service - some of the staff are not dependable, sorry to say; but a few are very professional and on top of their game. The female manager (I forgot her name) is a very patient, personable, and hardworking woman but the hotel needs to invest in training their staff (how to be efficient in what they do, how to communicate well in Filipino and English, and how to acknowledge and act on guests' needs urgently) as most of them just pale in comparison to the manager and are very slow to react. Warning, it can be frustrating. Location - great real beachfront location of the property, and if you are lucky to book the actual beachfront units, you will be inspired by the view. It's more peaceful to stay here because it's a few kilometers away from the town proper which in my opinion is overcrowded and poorly planned. comfort - they don't really charge a lot so I think the level of comfort you get is just right. The mattresses didn't give me a backache but the blankets were so thin. Good thing it wasn't cold at night during my stay. Meal - here's where they make up for their quirks. The chef makes really good meals - Filipino cuisine or other cuisine. The servings are generous and the food is very tasty. I had sinigang, it was awesome. The French ladies across my table commended the chef for their "excellent" sauteed vegetables; and if I'm not mistaken, the father of a Taiwanese family seated at the biggest table in the restaurant area made an effort to find him and shake his hand (or maybe even hand a tip) cause they were impressed with the banquet of food they were served. Only reason I'm not giving the hotel a perfect score for the meal category is due to the lifeless buffet breakfast.
Stayed in double bungalow with bathroom and aircondition. Very nice and spacious, Nice terrace and bungalow was right on the beach almost in the water. Only real downside was no wifi in the bungalow, and the wifi in the reception only worked 1 out of 4 days...

Bohemian and cozy
Not a high end place, but the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. It's a colorful, bohemian, island-style place with carved coconut masks on the walls, and marine inspired decor. Like most places in El Nido, you can't always rely on hot water, electricity and wifi during the entire day. Water and juice is complementary, and breakfast is basic with your own choice of eggs or pancakes. Right on the beach and with a great view of the sunset. 15-20 minutes walk to downtown El Nido. Value for money.

No sleep, extremely rude and unhelpful staff
When you book at Island front you expect to stay there but on check in we were told we are staying in Island front II. An off shoot about 200m down the road. You walk past a lovely pile of steaming, stinking trash onto a semi construction site to get the seriously budget cottages. No view here and no beach access. When we complained to staff about lack of toilet paper, no lightning and a giant hairball on the bathroom floor. Their response- do it yourself and they handed us a light bulb. No toilet paper though, that we had to keep asking for several times. Oh and yeah, you can't have a key to your room as the last person who checked out still has it. When we highlighted the obvious safety risk with this we got a shoulder shrug and eye rolling. Seriously rude every interaction and we saw many other guests complaining about similar things. The room itself is basic and OK but paper thin walls mean loud noise and minimal sleep. I'd go elsewhere!

Hot, cramped and loud (but cheap)
Stayed here for four nights in a cottage booked under Leonids budget hotel. The cottages are all bamboo cottage on top of each other. Do not book three to a room it was so cramped we ended up booking another so it was two to a room. The bathroom was ok but toilet was temperamental. Air con barely worked but we had a fan but it's so hot. You're supplied with a mosquito net which is helpful. The cottages are based right next to a field where the cockerels wake you up at all hours. The wifi was non existent it never worked for me or anyone I was with ( but that's the case with all of el nido I found). Breakfast was ok. If you want to stay here ask for rooms 1, 2 or 3 in the Isla part as they are much nicer and cleaner. There are three different parts to this hotel all booked under different names but run by island front. Staff are pretty helpful and always accommodating. Wouldn't stay here again I would recommend staying in the town.

Nice view from the restaurant
The place has a somewhat eccentric ambience. It was kind of good. There were lots of things going on in every corner. PROs: *Quite unique *clean beach *View from the restaurant *Location. The entrance is right along the hi-way. *Free coffee/tea 24/7 *'artistically' decorated with recycled materials. CONs: *mosquitoes *all the colors and stuff made our room feel less 'airy' *privacy in our room (#15). The glass wall was insufficiently covered with thin curtains. The main door, which is made of recycled materials, didn't seem secure enough. *Buffet breakfast has limited choices. Only 1 meat dish everytime. On our first morning, I couldn't have a decent sunny side up because the eggs were not fresh. *hot and cold showers come from 2 different shower heads. It wasn't easy to manipulate them. Room Tip: The room right before ours is, I think, occupied by the staff. They have a baby there. It didn't really bother us. But if you want peace and quiet, ask for different room.

Island front cottages has cheap bungalows right in front of the beach. If you're looking to stay just outside of town, in a quiet place by the beach, this is the perfect location for you. The room I stayed in was pretty basic, but had it's own ensuite bathroom. If it wasn't for the mouldy, water damaged smell in the bungalow, i would recommend it to budget travelers.
