My stay at Jim's Castle Inn was great. The front desk officers are very nice to assist us in our needs, most especially in the tours. They booked the tours for us and only have to pay them the exact amount after the tour. They also helped us rent a scooter to tour around even though we reached Coron after lunch. They also have a very sweet dog, Choco, who is ready for head rubs.

Can’t beat this spot for the price! Incredibly friendly staff, free coffee/tea/hot or cold water, great location. Bed is comfortable enough and the fan was sufficient in keeping us cool at night. We extended our original stay

Jen at the front desk was very helpful and attentive to each guest’s requests and queries. The place is a little far from the main road which is good if you want a peaceful and silent stay.

Your Travel Guide to Coron as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Coron from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

The most convenient way to reach Coron from Manila and other major Philippine cities is by air, flying into Busuanga Airport (USU). Several airlines, including Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific, operate daily flights from Manila. Flight durations are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, with fares typically ranging from PHP 3,000 to PHP 7,000 for a round trip, depending on the season and how far in advance you book your flight.

While direct flights from other regions might be limited, you can usually find connecting flights through Manila. For those seeking a more adventurous and budget-friendly option, though significantly longer, one can take a bus from Manila to El Nido or Puerto Princesa, and then a ferry or van to Coron. However, this journey can take over 24 hours and is generally not recommended for travelers with limited time.

For travelers prioritizing speed and comfort, booking your flight through Traveloka is highly recommended. You can compare prices, schedules, and airline options all in one place, ensuring you secure the best deal for your trip to Palawan. Remember to factor in the transfer time from Busuanga Airport to Coron Town Proper when planning your arrival at Jim's Castle Inn.

Best Time to Visit Coron

The dry season, from November to May, is generally considered the best time to visit Coron. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, calm seas, and lower chances of rainfall, which are ideal conditions for island hopping, diving, and exploring the famous lagoons and lakes. The peak tourist season falls between December and February, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodation and tours.

The shoulder months of November and May can offer a good balance, with pleasant weather and fewer tourists compared to the peak season. If you prefer a more tranquil experience and are looking for a cheap hotel, consider visiting during the latter part of the dry season or the beginning of the wet season. The wet season, from June to October, brings occasional heavy rains and rougher seas, which might disrupt some outdoor activities, but it also means fewer crowds and lower prices.

Another local specialty is **Tamilok**, a type of woodworm harvested from mangrove trees and typically eaten raw, marinated in vinegar. While it might sound adventurous, it’s considered a delicacy by many and has a unique, briny flavor. For those seeking seafood, grilled fish and squid are abundant and incredibly fresh. Many restaurants offer a 'paluto' service where you can select your catch of the day and have it cooked to your preference.

Don't forget to try **La Paz Batchoy**, a hearty noodle soup with pork and vegetables, a comforting dish especially after a long day of travel or island hopping. For a sweet treat, look for local **Halo-Halo** variations, a popular Filipino dessert made with shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, and topped with leche flan and ube ice cream. These dishes offer a true taste of Filipino flavors and are readily available in the restaurants surrounding Coron Central Plaza.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They made sure we feel at home and safe ❤️ Hotel was very clean and well managed. Suprised that our room was very big and spacious. Very affordable and accessible place. We paid around 500 only per head. The only downside was the road going to the hotel since it was very steep and we had heavy luggages at hand. The place was very quiet and peaceful. They offer free wifi, coffee and distilled water in the lobby. Overall, I give it a 9/10. This is the perfect place to stay for a budget travel 💯

Me and my partner are 1st time in coron, Booked a 5D4N with jims castle inn and it was a right decision. Room is very clean, aircon is working (malamig). Komportable mag sleep, and most of all ate (owner) of the property was very nice and friendly super mabait. Pag may need kami she always accommodates us. Jims castle was also budget-friendly, and my suggestion is if you want to have a tour you can direct to the owner, she also offers different tours, town tour and island tour. This is a hassle free, may susundo mismo sanyo sa reception in the morning to start the tour around 7-7:30am (Joiners) and ihahatid kau sa van. If you want to eat and have fun, Bayan is near also. You can ride a tricycle for 15pesos per head, and if you want to hang out you can walk from Jims to Sharkys 😊 Highly recommend this hotel to all soon Coron travellers 💝 Will surely come back here to bring my family 🌼.

Let me list down the pros and cons of staying at jims castle inn: 1. Since it is located at coron town proper, it is very near the market, national road, restaurants and souvenir shops. You can either walk or take a tricycle and pay 15 pesos per head to go to these locations. My only problem is that you need to climb up in a very steep street going to jims. I don’t recommend this for children and senior citizens. 2. Staffs are nice. Although most of the times, the receptionist is not always present in the front desk during her working schedule. I’m not sure why. By the way, the front desk is only open from 6am - 9pm if i’m not mistaken. They offer free water, you can also pre-order breakfast meals. They can help you book tours and can help you get hotel/airport transfers. 3. Facilities are superb. All areas are clean. The room that we got is very big. We have our own kitchen with complete cooking sets and utensils, (this is the only coron hostel/b&b that I know who has kitchen) with stove, water heater, refrigerator!! Dining areas (we have 2 sets of dining tables and chairs, 1 in indoor and 1 in the balcony), bathroom (it’s clean, and it has shower and heater), it has a separate bedroom, the bed is so comfy. Ac is in great condition. Same with the electricity, it is stable. Wifi connection is not that good tho. Everything is great if only they add a television in the room, it would be perfect. 4. Accommodation price is very cheap. We only paid around 3,000 pesos for 3 nights. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at jims castle inn. :)

We still recommend this place because the owner is very kind, their room is good for 2 pax only but we request an additional 2 bed for only 500 pesos for 3 days and 2 nights! Good deal right! The receptionist is very helpful, very willing to educate us in our Kuripot Adventure Team. Thank you so much Jims Castle Inn!

staff are courteous and polite. it's just the location, really. place is in the inner area of a steep, muddy ally. so imagine the inconvenience everytime you go in and out of it. and during our stay, power supply was unstable. we're opted to use the fan instead of AC once in a while to lessen the usage of power coming from the generator.

The staff are really nice and accommodating. The place is clean and good for backpackers. On the other hand, you have to prepare your legs since the location is a bit steep.

Location is good, and staff is very friendly and accommodating. However, I booked a room with 2 queen beds and was given a room with 1 queen and 1 double deck. No tv inside the room also, and during our stay the water service was disconnected and made us really uncomfortable. Though the staff did everything they could to fix the problem, but still it wasn't the kind of experience I was hoping for.

Love the place cause it 's near the town proper. It 's just a walking distance from the hotel to the hang out places in coron.
