Where are the staff when you need them?
I loved the design of the place and its location. It was not on the main road and was made of nipa- grass thatched and bamboos. My friends and I originally booked for a week here upon reading good reviews. We even booked the Secret Spot upon reading one TripAdvisors advice. (Please do not book this room!) Upon entering the place I knew something was off. I have a sensitive sense of smell. The place smelled like no one has ever bothered to dust things. It was musky so I ended up with a case of rhinitis throughout our barely 24hours stay. No receptionist at hand. The staff do not wear any uniform so you end up just asking around who works there. However, if you mistakenly asked a guest, it would definitely be embarrassing. The staff are not really well trained. You would need to ask them for your threadbare towels, thin pillows, and blankets. There are no toiletries provided, understandable as the price for the stay is cheap. You have to pay for the drinking water. They will not inform you that you have free breakfast so please ask them for that in the morning. Internet does not work at all. The four of us had to look for the guy who would give us the password. We were informed he was still playing basketball and we have to wait for him to get back. He did get back but the internet was really poor. Our phone's internet was way better. No TV in our room. The Secret Spot Room is terribly located. The staff are living in the room beside it. You can hear loud footsteps on the ceiling at night. They use the veranda to hang out all day. So you would hear laughter, guitar strums, and bad singing the whole day long and even up until midnight. We were not even able to sit there and enjoy the breeze coz men were sitting there. It was awkward opening the door with all these men just hanging around outside your door. Tip: Use this as your jump off point to look for better accommodations. Ask the surfing instructors. They knew better and cheaper places to stay.

CONS: 1) Room smells bad. 2)Pillows are super thin. We asked for thicker pillows. 3) We have to ask for towels. 4) It's as if nobody knows anything. Asked for WIFI password and was passed around. Ended up it's unavailable since the staff personnel who changed the password is out playing basketball. 5) You can hear other guest's chatter outside the room's verandah. 6) Far from the main road. PROS: 1) Few blocks away from Kermit's Place where the food is absolute delish!

Lovely and Local
How do you vision your holiday? Do you go for Western Standards or are you actually visiting Siargao to get an authentic Surfing experience with the bonus option to meet this awesome family. Jing and Jasmin started this place many years ago and have build it out to what it is today. No bunk beds, breakfast included and all the surf necessities you need. Why go there? Because this family is Siargo. Closed if you don't want to be bothered. Open if you open up. We joined the family to church, where invited for a lovely dinner and for many surf trips! We, as in all the travellers I met there! Such a good time and I'll definitely come back. Love you Jing's

The True Filipino Hospitality
Accommodation: Perfect prices for budget travelers, room prices are pretty decent, ranging from 300php to 2k+. For a group of 5, we rented room #5 - "Secret Spot", at Php 1,800 a day, (that's 360 per head). The room has A/C, a fan, a trash bin, charging ports and it's own toilet. Well pressed sheets, clean and cozy room when we arrive. Say 8/10. Facilities. Great common area where you can charge your devices, a wifi connection - good for checking emails and social media - definitely not fit for digital nomads; averaging to 0.5 mbps . Ample area to hang and dry your clothes, water is scarce early morning. Most important, you can use the kitchen, best to buys stuff from the market and cook your own food, got fridge and gas stove. 8/10. Note: No restaurant service on Sundays. Service. A true blue Filipino hospitality, Kuya Jing and Ate Jasmin are very accommodating, turns out to be like our dad and mom, away from home. 10/10 Lessons. For beginners like me, a Php500/hour 1-1 instructor + Php300 surfboard rental and includes motorike ride, fits well on my budget scale. It could have been better if all instructor are calibrated on the same level with a bit of teaching background and custom fits your learner needs & styles. Some are really good instructors but some aren't. Note: - No water early morning and late at night - No free breakfast on Sundays - Intermittent Internet connection - Got cable TV - Add 25php / day for drinking water

Great place and good people, locals and foreigners alike
Real cool place which I visited in October 2016 and February 2017... All made of wood and bamboo... you already feel like on the beach... The staff is made of very laid-back local surfers who know the best places... Cheapest option I have found around and for that price it s above average... they have open-air dormitories for backpackers on a small budget... and individual rooms for those who need more comfort and privacy... They served good food too. The family who is running the place contributes to the local community, which is a plus in my view... They teach local kids swimming and surfing for example.. Don't really understand the bad reviews... matter of perspective I guess.. they are probably from people who should have booked a room at 2-3000pesos/night in more fancy resorts... If you are on a low budget and respectful of the locals, Jing's is the place to go!
