Best boutique hotel I've been in a long time. Everyone is so nice and pleasant, from parking to check-in to dining. Did not realize I booked a room at street level and it was perfect for a physically challenged person. Breakfast was very good too. Amenities were top shelf. Will stay here again! Your Travel Guide to Baguio City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Baguio City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Baguio City from Manila is a popular choice for many Filipinos. The most common and convenient way is by bus. Several bus companies operate daily trips from various terminals in Metro Manila, including Cubao and Pasay. The journey typically takes around 4 to 6 hours, depending on traffic conditions and the specific route taken. Bus fares usually range from PHP 700 to PHP 1,200 for regular and executive classes, respectively.

For those looking for a faster option, flying into Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga is a viable alternative. From Clark, you can take a bus or arrange for a private transfer to Baguio City, which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. While there are no direct flights to Baguio's own Loakan Airport, booking a flight to Clark and then a bus is often more time-efficient than a direct bus from Manila. You can book flight tickets easily on Traveloka.

Driving your own vehicle offers the most flexibility. The primary route from Manila is via the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), connecting to the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX). From TPLEX, you will take the MacArthur Highway and then the Marcos Highway or Kennon Road to reach Baguio City. Toll fees can add up, so it’s wise to factor this into your budget. The drive typically takes around 4 to 5 hours without significant traffic.

Best Time to Visit Baguio City

Baguio City experiences a generally cool climate year-round, but the best time to visit is during the dry season, which runs from November to May. During these months, the weather is consistently cool and pleasant, with less chance of rain, making it ideal for outdoor activities and sightseeing. The peak tourist season falls between December and February, coinciding with Christmas holidays and the Panagbenga Festival in February.

If you prefer to avoid the largest crowds and potentially find more affordable accommodation and flight options, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November, early December, or March to May (excluding Holy Week). The "ber" months (September, October, November) can bring cooler temperatures and occasional rain, adding to the city's misty charm, but it's essential to be prepared for wet weather if you choose to visit during this period.

Food and Dining Near Baguio City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Baguio is complete without savoring its local delicacies. A must-try is the

Strawberry Taho

, a warm, silken tofu dessert mixed with brown sugar syrup and fresh strawberries, a delightful twist on the classic street food. You can find vendors selling this treat in popular spots like Burnham Park and Mines View Park. For a more substantial strawberry experience, visit a strawberry farm in nearby La Trinidad to pick your own and enjoy fresh strawberry ice cream or jam.

Another Baguio specialty is

Pinikpikan

, a traditional Cordilleran dish. It involves a unique preparation method where the chicken is lightly beaten before cooking, supposedly to tenderize the meat and enhance its flavor. The resulting soup is rich and savory, often cooked with etag (smoked pork) and vegetables. Many local eateries and restaurants in Baguio serve authentic Pinikpikan.

For those who enjoy hearty meals,

Baguio Longganisa

is a local sausage that offers a distinct sweet and garlicky flavor, different from other regional versions. It’s perfect for breakfast or as part of a larger meal. You can often buy these fresh or pre-cooked from local markets and restaurants. Pair it with garlic fried rice and a fried egg for a classic Filipino breakfast experience.

Don't forget to try

Ube Jam

and

Strawberry Jam

, which are popular pasalubong (take-home treats) from Baguio. Many local bakeries and souvenir shops offer these homemade jams. They make for wonderful gifts or a sweet reminder of your trip. For dining, explore the local markets for fresh produce and try dishes at restaurants like Good Taste Cafe & Restaurant for affordable Filipino favorites or Hill Station for a more upscale dining experience with a colonial ambiance.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Baguio City

Baguio City is known for its friendly and respectful local culture. The Igorot people, comprising various ethnic groups, have a rich heritage. When interacting with locals, politeness and respect are key. It's customary to greet elders with respect and to ask permission before taking photos of people, especially during festivals or traditional events. Understanding and appreciating local customs will enhance your interactions.

Safety in Baguio City is generally good, but like any urban area, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings. Keep your valuables secure, especially in crowded places like markets and terminals. Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas late at night. If you encounter any emergencies, the local police can be reached at their hotline. It's also a good idea to have the hotel's contact information readily available.

For a smoother travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A navigation app like Google Maps is indispensable for finding your way around the city and locating attractions. Ride-hailing apps can be useful for getting around, though local taxis and jeepneys are also readily available and generally affordable. Weather apps are helpful for keeping track of Baguio's famously changeable climate, allowing you to pack appropriately.

Familiarize yourself with basic Filipino phrases, as English is widely spoken, but a few local words can go a long way in showing appreciation for the culture. Having a reliable communication app like WhatsApp or Messenger is also useful for staying in touch with friends and family. These tools, combined with an awareness of local etiquette, will ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Baguio.

its overrated. ig worthy yes, but with the cost i paid i am expecting a little more. staff-- staff is not accommodating. like they are not in the mood to work that day. i even saw staff slouching in the lobby with their shoes off right across the entrance. amenities/appliances inside the room - the fridge is not working. the tv doesnt even have hbo. there is no water the morning we woke up. we had to wait until 8am plus for the water ration. got 2 bottled water for free but no coffee! value for money-- not worth it. the price when we booked is almost the same as that of The Manor Camp John Hay but no extra charge if there'll be 3 adults. had to pay 1k for the extra headcount but that doesnt include breakfast and extra bed. not even an additional towel or toiletries. food -- is good for the price. ordered room service but was told the wait is long since they cook it upon order. the staff didnt even offer alternative.

Kamiseta Hotel is remarkably beautiful and has a very friendly front desk staff—unfortunately, that’s all about it as regards positive features! During our overnight stay, there was neither wifi service at all (despite the advertised “free wifi” with multiple connection points) nor a working landline phone from which we could make local or toll-free calls. Food and service at the Vanilla Café were equally bad. The breaded fish of my fish-and-chips dinner looked and somewhat tasted like fried banana fritters (“maruya”) with fish, instead of a banana. The breakfast buffet spread did not include fruits and juices when, ironically, Baguio City is not lacking in fruits. Not once did the restaurant staff check on us if we were OK, and we had to go to the cashier to get our bill. As we were preparing to check out of our room and I was using the bathroom, the water got turned off without prior warning. We recommend Kamiseta Hotel for its photoshoot opportunities, but not for its lodging or food.

Overpriced boutique "hotel". More like an old home with victorian furnishing and wall accents. The rooms are right outside the lobby and you can hear all the daily transactions and staff talking all night. The bathroom was a joke. No water pressure from the sink or the shower. The toilet sit was so close to the wall that you have to position your leg sideways to use it. The sink water pressure was a joke, it was just dripping and not continous water pressure. Woke up at 6am with staff outside your door opening the lobby and started talking loud. The breakfast was limited with few selections and some are cold. The staff at the breakfast are was very unhappy when you asked them for something (like more hot water for the instant coffee) There is no customer service at all. It's a waste of money to be there. I thought it would be great with great ambiance but it was a true joke. I rather stay at The Manor for the price.

I love this hotel, I like the Victorian style, the quiet , the coziness and the decors. The reception desk are excellent, polite, cheerful and very helpful! Whenever we call them, our requests are immediately met . However, the service in the restautant was entirely opposite. The one time we ate there for lunch, we were so disappointed. We requested for coffee twice, but it was never delivered to us . I think asking for it the third time is too much. And as I looked around, there are more that enough servers . I believe at least someone will check around from time to time if there’s something the customer needs. It is a buffet style, but the customers might still need some things. Overall, it was a good stay , I would love to come back to this hotel again but I won’t make use of the restaurant again.

Hot water was great, the soap they provide is better than other hotels, a/c was great, beds were soft. I would stay there again for sure. Only thing I had concern about was the door to our room didnt latch well so could be easy to think door is secure when it isnt. Down the road about 2 mins walk is a general store and a good burger and steak place. I didnt like walking there because road is poorly lighted and next to hotel there was a shack area with like 8 homeless looking guys sitting there doing nothing and staring at my girlfriend and I as we walked by, so thats was kind of a concern. Maybe more of a security presence in front of hotel is recomended.

Checking in was easy, the room was ready when we got to the hotel. the Hotel lobby is so beautifully decorated. The room we occupied (Petra) had an exquisite design as well. The bathroom was excellent. The only complaint I would have is that the double beds were small.

Outside and inside design is great! Staff are very helpful, kind and presentable. Room was amazing with calamansi juice welcome drink. Love the bed - comfy, bathroom was clean and nice. Vanilla cafe offers good breakfast and dinner was great as well. Location is quiet, walking distance to Wright park and botanical garden

The place is what you have dreamt of when you are fan of disney princesses, that is why I chose Kamiseta for my little girl and all of the spots in the hotel are instagram worthy. The food is good but pricey and they serve small portions and also the additional matress which includes breakfast and toiletries was beyond cost worth 1700php per night. But all in all, we had a great experience and definitely stay again in kamiseta hotel because of my little princess.

Great staff! The original Victorian ambience I had experienced in the past were not there anymore. Fair rating ! The were changes of art deco and furnishings, ongoing renovations and new management.

Best boutique hotel I've been in a long time. Everyone is so nice and pleasant, from parking to check-in to dining. Did not realize I booked a room at street level and it was perfect for a physically challenged person. Breakfast was very good too. Amenities were top shelf. Will stay here again! Kudos to management and staff.

No microwave, steam kettle, toiletries & coffee condiments in the room. Linens & towels pretty old. Water pressure super low, bed not comfortable, ceiling too low. Overall upgrade needed!!!

its overrated. ig worthy yes, but with the cost i paid i am expecting a little more. staff-- staff is not accommodating. like they are not in the mood to work that day. i even saw staff slouching in the lobby with their shoes off right across the entrance. amenities/appliances inside the room - the fridge is not working. the tv doesnt even have hbo. there is no water the morning we woke up. we had to wait until 8am plus for the water ration. got 2 bottled water for free but no coffee! value for money-- not worth it. the price when we booked is almost the same as that of The Manor Camp John Hay but no extra charge if there'll be 3 adults. had to pay 1k for the extra headcount but that doesnt include breakfast and extra bed. not even an additional towel or toiletries. food -- is good for the price. ordered room service but was told the wait is long since they cook it upon order. the staff didnt even offer alternative.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We can honestly say that the pics on hotels.com do not do justice to the colourfull furnishings; so refreshing and a delight to stay at this hotel. Staff went out of there way to make our stay so enjoyable.

Excessive noise from a wedding party at the restaurant below our hotel room until past 9:00 in the evening. The noise was from the party loud sound system & noisy guests around the hotel. Kamiseta Hotel should have considered the comfort & rest hours of other hotel guests that were not part of the wedding party.

Place is very nice and elegant. Good customer service. Except for the toilet tank that doesn't fill up water . We checked in late . We didn’t call for a service because it’s already late. We just used the bidet to fill up the water tank. Which is they should have checked it first.
