Nice and homey. Relaxing view of the beach.
This place is absolutely fantastic. The staff were amazing helping us with anything we needed and because there is only 3 rooms it's like having a private beach and villa for the weekend we barely saw any of the other guests. The breakfast was spectacular! I would just like to say a big thank you to the property owners for making the decision to have the house be a hotel when you are here. It really gives you a taste of the high life and luxury and to the staff thank you so much for helping us with transport when we needed it and everything else.
I had a great experience. Must stay if ever you will go to Bantayan Island.

Private getaway!
Oh, this place is a gem! We arrived here around 10:30 in the morning, though we're not yet allowed to check in but we are free to roam around the area and enjoy the pool. Then, after an hour they allowed us to check in because they are done cleaning the room. Room is okay, nothing special but it has a homey feeling to it. Clean and cold room. For the food, I advise that you'll buy one before heading here. Though they offer all day breakfast for Php 160. But, you don't have to worry because you can you can ask Kuya Nonoy to buy food for you in the city, and that's for free. (Of course we gave him a tip) Getting here is not a problem, from the port you can ride tricycle to Kandugyap which is priced for only Php 50. Tricycle there offers tours as well, starting from Php 400 per head, depending on the place you wanna visit. To summarize our trip here, it was wonderful and something that you wanna do again! We'll surely go back here. This place is a darling and instagrammable! Perfect for millennials! ❤️

Four Thumbs Up!
"best decision talaga that we chose Kandugyap over any other resorts in Bantayan" - my girlfriend and I would always tell each other. We arrived at Hagnaya Port around 4 in the morning and we immediately called Kandugyap to ask if they could pick us up at Sta. Fe Port when we arrive and also request for an early check-in. We were glad and surprised that the owner answered our call and happily granted all our requests. (We're really sorry sir if we disturb your sleep. Hehe) Upon reaching the terminal at Sta. Fe Port, we are delighted to see their striking in-house rover waiting for us along with the driver who greeted us cheerfully. Upon arriving at Kandugyap, checking-in was a breeze, we were introduced to the villa and the staff left us on our own to explore the place. The senior citizens (my mom, aunt and uncle) were readily amazed by the looks and atmosphere of the resort. The only CON about this place, in my honest opinion, is its location in terms of transportation and access to stores & restaurants. I don't remember seeing any tricycles passing by the house (except maybe tour tricyles or private ones), there are few ones waiting outside Ogtong Cave Resort though but you have to walk a few hundred meters to get there. Anyway, you can always ask the staff on how to get around town or you can just hire a private tricycle to drive you around. I also recommend to buy food & other stuff that you need before checking-in or when you get the time to stop by at the town's public market. If you're looking for a place to just chill and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of the town, and if you can't stand the noise and activities of too many people in one resort, Kandugyap is just the right place for you. If we are to visit Bantayan Island again someday, we will definitely stay at Kandugyap House by the Sea again. <3

Excellent Stay by the Sea
Location: located in Sta Fe. Kandugyap is a bit far from the Center of Sta Fe. It is 2.5 km from the Port. It is in a quiet area and rental of Motor is advisable. The resort has its own service tricycle for a fee. Check In: Fast, friendly and efficient handled by Malu. Dolores Villa: The Villa is HUGE. It has 3 Queen Sized Beds. 1 Bed on the ground floor with a Cable TV and 2 beds on the loft. It has a living room, dining room and fully working kitchen where you can cook. There is a water dispenser in the dining room. The Villa has 2 AC Units. The beds were very comdortable and pillows were plenty. Blanket though is Very Thin but it doesnt matter for me. Bathroom: the Bathroom is quite small. The toilet has a bidet. There is hot shower but water pressure is very weak. Soap and shampoo were provided. Grounds: Kandugyap is a small resort but very well maintained. It is like a piece of Greece in Bantayan. Very nice resort with magnificent views of the sea. Beach: the beach area is in a cove. Sand is powdery fine. Water is crystal clear. I really enjoyed the beach and during my 3 days stay never got to share it with anyone. Do expext though to see bits and pieces of litter in the water probably brought there from other areas. Swimmimg Pool: well maintained pool. Food: Kandugyap only serves all day breakfast. The breakfast they served was good. You have a choice of corned beef, tocino, chorizo plus some other choices all served with rice and a fruit plus drink. You can have them buy seafood or meat then have them cook it for you for a fee or buy it yourself. Or cook it yourself if in the Villa. Best bet for food is to go to town center of Sta Fe where there are a wide range of choices. Service: there were some complaints about service. I rate service depending on the establishment and since this is a family run resort i adjust my expectations lower and they did live up to that expectation. Service is more of a at home type of service. And staying at Kandugyap did feel like home. Overall: It was a stay i enjoyed immensely. I did not go wrong in booking with Kandugyap.

Promising but NOT worth it. Look somewhere else!
I would have rated the resort 5 stars in terms of ambiance, exteriors, and secluded location. However, our experience there was less than satisfactory. I was excited to surprise my fiance with a quiet retreat before our wedding next month before things got more hectic. I was browsing for Bantayan resorts and found the place online. It was advertised as a secluded and tranquil getaway perfect for honeymooners, prenup photo shoots, and weddigs as it was situated along the coast further away from the bustling tourist hub Sta. Fe is known for. I even got the impression that the resort was strict when it came to the number of visitors since they had limited rooms (1 big villa and 2 small bungalows). This was supposed to preserve the tranquility and exclusivity of the place for visitors that needed to spend a relaxing and quiet time at the beach. I loved that the resort had top notch amenities such as a private cove and infinity pool, which probably explained why their accommodations were a bit pricier than others. When we got there, we were amazed at the "little piece of Greece" we beheld. However, we were surprised that there were so much people...probably 30 or more. it turned out to be a family outing (more like an entire clan really). We felt like intruders for walking in on their party since their stuff were scattered everywhere. We were informed that there was miscommunication between the administration and the clan about the number of heads allowed and were reassured that most of them were walk-ins and would eventually leave by day's end. When we went for a night swim in their pool, they didn't even bother turning on the lights until the other group staying at the villa arrived. Is that normal? I mean, we were paying guests too. We decided to rent a motorbike to visit the Bantayan proper for 250/day as we liked to travel at our own pace and needed to buy supplies since they didn't really serve anything but breakfast food there. The location also made it inconvenient to go to Sta. Fe proper without your own transportation. However, we got into an accident along the way. We were told when we returned the bike that another couple - newlyweds- got seriously injured on that same bike before. The caretakers told us that it was because the guy didn't know how to drive the bike. However, we recalled that the vehicle was wobbly and seemingly unstable to begin with. We were informed that the bike was the owner's but then were told again that it belonged to their neighbor, which confused us since they were so inconsistent! The staff wasn't exactly friendly and attentive. We had to ask again and again about things we needed for them to deliver. In the end, we had to pay 1500 for the damages on top of our rental fee but weren't given the chance to talk to the owner personally about what happened. It was too sketchy. I hope they never rent out that bike to other guests again! Another couple, a local woman and a foreign man, even checked out after just staying for a day. We were told they too felt like they were intruding in a family's outing. On the day we were about to check out, another big clan arrived - even bringing in their own karaoke system! It felt like we were staying at a noisy public beach. We were grateful to finally leave the place after 2 nights. I'm not sure if they intentionally falsely advertised the resort or we were just misled by the marketing and aren't the intended target market. We were sorely disappointed. The beautiful resort was so promising. Why pay premium when you can just hang out in other nearer resorts with equally wonderful beaches? Kandugyap's still noisy and crowded anyway. I wouldn't recommend it for serious vacationers looking to relax. Sorry.
