No longer the KiwiLodge of old. :-(
For many years this hotel was the favourite haunt and social point for local retired foreigners and those in the City for occasional Mango Street action. It's hallmarks were great Ozzy/English food (chips, fish, pies, sausages, home made bread), English and American Breakfasts, super-cold beer and a fine pool-table. Those days are gone. New owners have added a fitness room and wall art. The old charm has simply fallen away, replaced by a free Filipino breakfast. The Good: Location, location, location. An easy walk to Alaya Center, slightly longer to SM and short ride to Fuente Circle or Pier One. Freshly updated bathrooms. Quiet aircon. Good selection of TV stations. Nice staff. The Bad: Generally dirty common areas, low water pressure, broken water heater in shower, no coffee or condiments (but a kettle and cups are provided), thin pillows and linen, very basic and rather tatty furnishings. The Ugly: Water system periodically spewing black gunge from the basin faucet. Slooooow to non-existant WiFi. Awful restaurant environment. -- end --

a pleasant overnight trip
I was looking for a budget hotel near sm and found this. It is walking distance to SM Cebu and accessible to jeepneys, a little walk to the main road. The place is clean and the staff very accommodating. After booking my room, I requested for an earlier check in because I'm leaving very early in the morning. When I got to Cebu, they called me to inform that my room is ready. It is a familiar place so no problem with the taxi. I also asked for my breakfast to be prepped at 5am which they gladly accommodated. I'm giving this 4/5 spots because of their hospitality. I'm gonna return to this on my next overnight visit :)

Continued Excellent Service
We went to Cebu for my semi-annual doctor check up. We called to see if we could get a room for the night. The reception personnel are always friendly and accommodating. We got our reservation and requested late check in. We arrived and the place was really well lighted. I overheard reception taking an order for breakfast at 3 AM in the morning. I asked if this was a recent change and was told yes. They now have breakfast available for the early departures. There have been many improvements noticed since the new management take over. This is really a better place now a lot of the food is the same but new items have been added. The service is still outstanding and the front desk personnel (Riza) is really on the ball. I will always continue staying at the Kiwi Lodge. Great Place!!!!

If you can't avoid do it.
This hotel is in a dirty and remote area. The hotel is very big but it's dirty... moquette steps to get in the rooms are very very dirty. The room was clean but in our reservation they offer small fridge, city view, toiletres and safety box and I didn't found nothing of those. They said it was a booking.com mistake. The breakfast was very poor and a lot of ants were on the table. For the price I paid everything was very poor. They offer airport transfert for 500pesos. If you catch a taxi by yourself you will pay 200 pesos. Never Again.

Nice home feel.
Staff friendly? Nice big room with aircon and ceiling fan. Also nice they had kettle and cups in room and a shared kitchen dinning room. Would be good for bigger groups staying for a couple of days. Breakfast was average. Only disappointment was cleanliness of glass shower screen, didn't look like had been cleaned for a long time!
