I was with my boyfriend and we stayed at the resort for 3 days from Sept 17-19. I love the resort it is so quite and peaceful. The room was clean and the staffs were so accommodating. I love the dogs they were lovable and sweet. Foods are okay. Kuya Richard (Kota Beach van driver) was so accommodating and he even refer and give us a tip for our DIY tour. Just bring a cash because they can't transact card payments all the time. Though there is an ATM machine outside near Kota Beach. Your Travel Guide to Santa Fe, Bantayan Island as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Santa Fe, Bantayan Island from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from Manila, the most efficient way to reach Santa Fe, Bantayan Island is by air. You can book flight tickets to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). Flight durations are typically around 1 hour and 30 minutes, with fares varying based on the airline and booking time, but often ranging from PHP 2,500 to PHP 5,000 for a round trip if booked in advance.

Upon landing in Cebu, your journey continues overland and by sea. From the airport, take a taxi or a Grab car to the Cebu North Bus Terminal. The bus ride to Hagnaya Port in San Remegio takes approximately 3 to 4 hours and costs around PHP 200 to PHP 300. From Hagnaya Port, you will take a ferry or a fast craft to Santa Fe Port on Bantayan Island. Ferry tickets usually cost between PHP 180 to PHP 250, with travel time around 1 to 1.5 hours.

Alternatively, some travelers opt for flights to a closer airport like Roxas City or Iloilo and then take a ferry, but the Cebu route is generally the most common and well-serviced for reaching Bantayan Island. For those coming from other major Philippine cities like Davao or Cagayan de Oro, booking a flight to Cebu (CEB) remains the primary and most practical option to connect to the Bantayan Island route.

Best Time to Visit Santa Fe, Bantayan Island

The dry season, from November to May, is generally considered the best time to visit Santa Fe, Bantayan Island. During these months, you can expect sunny skies, calm seas, and lower humidity, making it ideal for beach activities, island hopping, and exploring the island's natural beauty. The peak tourist season falls between December and February, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices during this period.

The wet season, from June to October, brings occasional rainfall and higher chances of typhoons, especially from August to October. While you might find fewer tourists and lower prices during these months, the weather can be unpredictable, potentially disrupting outdoor plans. If you don't mind occasional rain showers and are looking for a more budget-friendly trip, visiting during the shoulder months of November or May can offer a good balance of pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

For Filipino travelers looking to experience the island's charm without the peak season rush, the months of November, March, April, and May are often excellent choices. You'll still enjoy good weather for the most part, but with a more relaxed atmosphere. Planning your trip during these times can allow you to appreciate the beauty of Santa Fe and Bantayan Island more intimately.

Food and Dining Near Santa Fe, Bantayan Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Bantayan Island, and Santa Fe in particular, is renowned for its fresh seafood, especially its scallops. You'll find these succulent bivalves prepared in various ways – grilled, baked with cheese, or simply steamed. Many local eateries and restaurants around Santa Fe serve these, often caught daily from the surrounding waters. They offer a taste of the ocean that is both delicate and flavorful, a true highlight of island cuisine.

Another must-try is the Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is marinated in vinegar, onions, ginger, and chili peppers. The acidity of the vinegar "cooks" the fish, resulting in a tangy and refreshing dish that is perfect for the tropical climate. You can find excellent Kinilaw in most local carinderias and restaurants, offering a zesty start to any meal.

Don't leave Bantayan Island without trying their local dried fish and danggit. While often associated with breakfast, these crispy, salty treats are a popular pasalubong (souvenir). They are usually fried until perfectly crisp and best enjoyed with garlic fried rice and a fried egg. Many local markets and shops in Santa Fe sell these, allowing you to take a piece of Bantayan's flavor home with you.

For those with a sweet tooth, try the local mangoes, which are often exceptionally sweet and juicy on the island. Enjoy them fresh, or in various preparations like mango shakes or as part of desserts. Many small stalls and markets will have fresh mangoes available, especially during their peak season. Exploring these local flavors is a significant part of the travel experience for many Filipinos.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Santa Fe, Bantayan Island

The people of Bantayan Island are known for their hospitality and friendly nature. As a visitor, it's appreciated if you show respect for local customs. Dress modestly when visiting churches or more traditional areas. Learning a few basic Cebuano phrases like "Salamat" (Thank you) can go a long way in fostering positive interactions with the locals. Always be polite and considerate.

Safety in Santa Fe is generally good, with low crime rates. However, as with any travel destination, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit places late at night. If you encounter any issues, local police can be reached at emergency numbers, which are usually posted in public areas or can be obtained from your accommodation.

For communication and navigation, ensure you have a reliable mobile signal. Consider getting a local SIM card if your provider has poor coverage. Essential apps for your trip include a reliable map application like Google Maps for navigating the island, a translation app if you're not familiar with Cebuano or Tagalog, and ride-hailing apps if available for local transport. Having a weather app is also useful for planning your daily activities around potential rain showers.

You can use it to manage your bookings, discover local attractions, and even find other places to book hotel rooms if you decide to extend your stay or explore other parts of the Philippines. Cleanliness everywhere is awesome. The rooms are too dark (for standard room and the cottage deluxe room) lightings should be improved. There were no slippers for guests and no faucets outside the cottages. If you'll arrive earlier than 7.30am, you have to wait for the receptionist to arrive then you can leave your baggage in a room altogether with the other guests' baggage with no tags and anyone is allowed to enter, so its quite unsecure for your things. The food is delicious but a little pricey. The location of the beach is good if you're a fun of sunrise.

The rooms are so nice. And the place, of course. Super worth it for the price. But the staff are not that friendly, except for the guards and driver. Food is so-so and takes too long to be served.

It wasn't peak season when I went there. The resort had on-going renovation but they were able to maintain the cleanliness of the place. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Though there were few guests, the lifeguard wasn't around most the time that day.

The place was so beautiful and huge! We liked the privacy of each rooms because you get a separate cabana each. When we stayed there (july 2018, typhoon season), the waves were too high and strong unfortunately. And there were a lot of seaweeds. So we did not get to enjoy our dips in the ocean. Be sure to visit during the summer and dry months to fully enjoy the experience.

The staffs are friendly. Room was far from the beach. No towel provided for standard room aircon. The room is hot even though its raining and with aircon.

We had a very pleasant experience in Kota Beach Resort. We booked a Standard Aircon room but by the time we checked in, they have upgraded us to Deluxe Cottage for free. Rooms are great. They have a complimentary bottled water. They also serve a free scrumptious breakfast. The staffs especially in the restaurant are extremely friendly which added up to our experience. Ambience is really good. I highly recommend this resort. We cant wait for our next visit.

I will recommend it to my family and friends and probably I'll stay there again.

The staffs are very accommodating, helpful and approachable. So much satisfied with their service. The room is clean as well as the resort surroundings. Will definitely recommend this place.

The rooms are so nice. And the place, of course. Super worth it for the price. But the staff are not that friendly, except for the guards and driver. Food is so-so and takes too long to be served.

Bed was big enough but the mattress is hard. Customer service at the restaurant is not friendly and it took them around 45mins to serve breakfast.

Perfect getaway! What i love in kota beach is you get to enjoy the beach without the crowd. Added points for a very accommodating crew. Will definitely be back.

The place is very beautiful and very relaxing for those who are looking for a getaway from your jobs. Nice beach, clean and secured facilities, and hospitable staffs. Unfortunately, I just scheduled a 3-day trip which is not enough. I would definitely go back at this place.
