Back in La Solana after 5 years
We stayed here in 2012 and enjoyed it back then. This time around, some changes were noticeable but still enjoyed it nonetheless, but not as much as before.
In 2012, we made advanced booking. This time, we walked in and we're thankful they accommodated us. We were given minimal discount.
In 2012, they offered free breakfast. This time, breakfast is sold separately, but you can ask for hot water if you brought along cup noodles or instant coffee with you and they will not charge you.
This time, we booked our island hopping tour with them and found it more reasonable than if booked by the beach. They drove us to the sand bar where we were picked up by a big banca, then transferred to a smaller banca for the island hopping tour, and then were picked up again by their service at the sand bar. Well-coordinated tour and no hidden charges (separate rental for smaller banca, etc.).
Free service to the beach when you ask, if you do not want to walk 5-10 minutes to the beach.
Old towels and linen.
Air-condition unit did not cool the whole room for the two rooms we occupied (301-302).
Water from the shower was not that strong, maybe because we were on the 3rd floor. Did not check if water heater worked. We only showered cold.
WIFI was not working during our stay.
Friendly and accommodating staff, but there was one woman who never smiled.
We loved their dog Blackie. Very friendly.
Truthfully, we keep choosing La Solana because of their swimming pool. But if we find a newer accommodation nearer to the beach with swimming pool and free breakfast, we'll reconsider.
