We got the African room at a promo price. The room was comfy and we had a great view from its Balcony. At first we were unsure of its comfort because I learned that there was no AC on this room but the place is so cool. So the AC is no longer needed. It would have been better that they provide matrimonial bed on this room though. According to the staff they only provide 2 single beds with these type of rooms. Food is great btw!

Beautiful view but...
We booked an African Villa for an overnight stay through agoda.com. Upon arriving, we were told that the African Villa 1 was booked for us but as we found out that the room had two single beds, we asked for an upgrade and that the bed be changed to queen-sized. They agreed and booked us for African Villa 2. We had coffee and as we are smokers, we had coffee in the designated smoking area. The view was okay if only they removed the plants and the signs blocking the view. We thought the coffee was good though. The resort didn't have options for Western meals so we ordered for a club sandwich, which the menu said was good for 3-4 people. The food was good however the serving size was, in our opinion, only good for 2 people. Our room was then available after purchasing some overpriced cigarettes in their own by-the-highway sari-sari store, which we have expected anyway as it seemed they were the only convenience store in the area. On our way to the African villas, we had to walk behind the bar, and walk down some ~80 steps down which was a real pain for us as all the resort amenities were on the top of these steps. The busboy didn't even offer to take our bags. The view on the said villas were uninspiring as there was construction going on at front area of the said villas. The room was nowhere similar to the photos advertised on agoda.com. It was non-airconditioned, had louver windows, a 14-inch bulky LCD TV and a twin-sized bed (not the promised queen-sized bed). My partner and I were aghast as we were clearly disappointed. We had to walk all the way up again to express our disappointment to the staff in the reception and reiterated that we asked for an upgrade and we were willing to pay as we didn't want our holiday to be ruined. They informed us that there were no other rooms available but they can repurpose their "KTV" room for us, which had AC, and provide us with a king-sized bed but we had to pay an extra 1,000php for it. We agreed. When we got there, the king-sized bed that was promised was two folding beds with hard mattresses, moved so they were beside each other. We didn't fret. However, a few mins later as we laid down, the leg of one of the beds broke. Went up to reception again and suggested they will put the mattress on the floor instead. Called for the manager, manager wasn't around. We cancelled and drove 2 hours to Bacolod.

Very expensive resort
The resort is ok, however it is an expensive day out, after you pay 100 peso per head entrance fee, then after that you pay extra for everything else, if you want a table with 4 chairs at the pool, it is 400 peso, and 50 peso for extra chair. Also to play any games in entertainment area it is 150 peso. The food is nice and the service staff are great. Our visit was ok for a one time trip, but would not visit regularly due to cost.

time to chill
the place was nice its just a one hour ride from bacolod city. place was good clean and away from polluted air of the urban areas pros: many comfort rooms clean rooms accommodating staff fresh air very close to nature zipline rides and cable car rides horse back rides sport zone with bar well designed rooms great place to relax cons: a little bit pricey for room prices many of its amenities close at 10pm rooms dont have ac but its quite ok. because the breeze from the this place is cool enough to lull you to sleep. has stray cats and dogs in some areas. some workers speak in cebuano and quite hard to communicate using hiligaynon but they are very nice and accomodating pool is not that clean and it has no lifeguard

Cheap but too many irritations
Good - zip wire, views, sunset, pool, Poor - loud music all the time, starting at breakfast time, weird decor in African villas, no wifi, very limited menus especially at breakfast, shower not hot, poor lighting in bathroom so shaving wasn't easy, lot of steps from African villa to main area

Good but in need of improvements
There were many things that we enjoyed about La Vista Highlands. Firstly the location and views are jaw dropping. Having done a beach holiday for 2 weeks the pleasant cool of the mountains was a welcome relief. The resort is high-spec for the price. We stayed in the African rooms which we felt were good value for money, although one or two things could have been tweaked, such as holes in the mosquito guards on the windows. Also there was a kettle in the room for some reason although no coffee or mugs! The shower was good and even had warm water, a first for us in the Philippines. The bed was fine if a little small. Despite being reasonably cheap there were a few things which annoyed us. It feels like someone needs to go in and take a look at processes because there was a general sense that staff didn't always know what to do. We tried to order a bottle of wine which took 3/4 people to sort out after some confusion. One member of our group got told to leave bags at the entrance and it wasn't brought down to his room for another 40 minutes leaving him with no clothes after his shower. Loud music piped throughout the resort was the main annoyance given that it started at 7.45am and could be heard from our room when we were in bed. This is a big 'no no' for me and it seems some other tripadvisor reviewers felt the same. Why ruin such an incredible view and the peace & tranquility? The room does not come with wifi which is poor. The only wifi is in the main area by the pool but when we visited it was not working. With a few tweaks this place could be really excellent. The staff were very friendly!
