Dining - excellent staff service - you’ll have your main server, and once food is being served. You’ll have 1-2 more assisting. Another example, my son was eating his ice cream, and without cue, a staff gave him water to go with it. Thank you. Rooms - they have, I would say, their original resort rooms, and also, more recently built, modern rooms. Activity- they have wakeboarding activity inside

Your Travel Guide to Calatagan as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Calatagan from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

Traveling to Calatagan from Metro Manila primarily involves a scenic drive. The journey typically takes around 3 to 4 hours, depending on traffic. You can take the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) towards the STAR Tollway, then exit towards Batangas City and follow signs leading to Calasiao and eventually Calatagan. The total toll fees can range from PHP 500 to PHP 700, depending on your vehicle and exact route.

For those coming from other major Philippine cities, the most practical approach is to first travel to Metro Manila. From there, you can follow the road travel options described above. Alternatively, you can look for flights to nearby airports if available, though direct flights to Calatagan are not common. If flying into Manila, remember to book flight tickets well in advance, especially during peak seasons, to get the best deals.

Public transportation is also an option. Buses bound for Calatagan can be found in terminals in Metro Manila, such as those in Pasay or Cubao. The bus fare typically ranges from PHP 300 to PHP 500 per person, and the travel time can be longer than driving due to multiple stops. This makes it a more budget-friendly choice for solo travelers or those on a tighter budget.

Best Time to Visit Calatagan

The ideal time to visit Calatagan is generally during the dry season, which runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and lower chances of rain, making it perfect for beach activities and exploring the outdoors. The weather is typically warm and pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from 25°C to 32°C.

The months of December to February are particularly popular due to cooler temperatures and festive holiday vibes. However, this is also peak season, meaning more crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices. If you prefer a more tranquil experience and are looking for a cheap hotel or better rates, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or late April. The wet season, from May to October, can bring occasional heavy rains and typhoons, which might disrupt outdoor plans.

Calatagan, being a coastal town in Batangas, offers a delightful array of culinary experiences, with seafood being a prominent feature. While often associated with Tagaytay, you can find delicious versions in Batangas too. For a taste of local sweets, try Batangas' famous *kapeng barako*, a strong, aromatic coffee that’s a perfect pick-me-up.

take advantage of this on *Adobo*, a Filipino classic that’s a must-try wherever you go in the Philippines, and Calatagan is no exception. You'll find various takes on this savory dish of meat braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. For a quick and satisfying snack, look for *Lumpia*, crispy spring rolls filled with vegetables or meat, available in many local stores and food stalls.

When dining in Calatagan, explore the local markets for fresh produce and seafood. Many small restaurants and carinderias offer authentic Filipino home-style cooking. For a more structured dining experience, check out restaurants near popular beach resorts or the town center. Trying the local delicacies is a significant part of the travel experience, offering a deeper connection to the region's culture and flavors.
