The headboard of the bed makes a creak noise (langitngit), is it Part of the bedroom? We would be awaken in the middle of the night , if there is a huge move.

Excellent customer service! Everyone was very helpful and went above and beyond to make sure we have a comfortable and enjoyable stay there. I liked that they let us check in earlier as soon as our room was ready with no extra charge. Transportation around the place was great as there was a jeepney coming every 10 min to take you where you want to go. Place was really gorgeous and have lots of nice spots to take beautiful pictures at. Our room exceeded our expectations as it was in a really nice location close to all amenities and events (Paseo dela Escolta). It was also very clean and huge for 4 people. We all slept well during the night as our room was super quiet and the beds were comfortable. There were only 2 restaurants that were open during our stay, which are Cusina ni Nanay Maria and La Bella Teodora, and we tried both for lunch and dinner. Food was okay in both, but really expensive especially for the quality and quantity you'll get. Customer service in both was fantastic, though. We did enjoy the live music at La Bella Teodora during dinner as the trio of performers they had were wonderful. We also enjoyed the walking tour that we had before checking in. It was informative and fun and our tour guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. We especially loved the traditional Filipino games that we played as part of the tour. We also enjoyed watching some events and performances such as the carabao race and cultural show which were all fun.

Your Travel Guide to Bagac as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Bagac from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from Manila, the most common way to reach Bagac is by bus. Major bus terminals in Metro Manila, such as those in Cubao or Pasay, offer routes heading towards Bataan. The journey typically involves a bus ride to Balanga City or Mariveles, followed by a transfer to a local bus or jeepney bound for Bagac. Bus fares can range from PHP 300 to PHP 500, with travel times around 3 to 5 hours, depending on the destination within Bataan and traffic.

If you prefer to fly, the nearest international airport is Clark International Airport (CRK). From Clark, you can take a bus or arrange for a private transfer to Bataan. This option might be more convenient for those coming from distant provinces or international destinations. Booking your book flight to Clark in advance can often lead to significant savings.

Driving your own vehicle offers the most flexibility. From Metro Manila, you can take the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and then the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) towards Subic. From Subic, follow signs leading to Bataan, and then navigate towards Bagac. Toll fees can add up, so factor this into your budget. The drive is scenic, especially as you approach the coastal roads of Bataan.

Best Time to Visit Bagac

The Philippines generally experiences a tropical climate, and Bagac is no exception. The dry season, typically from November to April, is considered the best time to visit. During these months, you can expect sunny days and lower chances of rain, making it ideal for outdoor activities, beach visits, and exploring the historical sites. Temperatures are warm, so light clothing is recommended.

The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by higher humidity and frequent rainfall. While this period might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, outdoor activities can be disrupted by typhoons or heavy downpours. If you plan to visit during this time, it's wise to check weather forecasts regularly and have indoor alternatives planned. For a comfortable and predictable experience, aim for the dry season.

Food and Dining Near Bagac — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Bataan, and Bagac in particular, offers a taste of Filipino coastal cuisine. Seafood is a staple here, with dishes like grilled fish, *sinigang na hipon* (shrimp in sour broth), and *kinilaw* (Filipino ceviche) being popular choices. The freshness of the seafood, often caught daily by local fishermen, makes these dishes particularly flavorful. Look for local eateries or *carinderias* for authentic preparations.

Another local specialty you might encounter is *Pancit Mariveles*, a distinct noodle dish from the region. While variations exist, it often features a rich, savory sauce with various meats and vegetables. It’s a hearty and satisfying meal that showcases the local culinary identity. Many restaurants in Bagac will feature these regional favorites on their menus.

Don't forget to try local delicacies and snacks. *Pastillas de leche*, sweet milk candies, are a common treat. For something more savory, *chicharon* (fried pork rinds) are always a hit. Exploring the local markets can also lead you to unique finds and authentic flavors that represent the Bataan region.

When dining near Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, you can explore the resort's own restaurant for convenience or venture out to local establishments. Ask locals for recommendations on where to find the best *kinilaw* or the most authentic *Pancit Mariveles*. Trying these dishes is a key part of experiencing the local culture.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Bagac

Filipinos are known for their hospitality, and Bagac is no exception. Greetings like "Magandang umaga/hapon/gabi" (Good morning/afternoon/evening) are always appreciated. Respect for elders and local customs is important. When visiting churches or religious sites, dress modestly. The pace of life in Bagac is generally relaxed, so embracing a slower rhythm will enhance your experience.

Bagac is considered a safe destination for travelers. However, as with any place, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep your valuables secure, be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, and avoid walking alone in poorly lit places late at night. For emergencies, local police assistance can be reached through general emergency numbers or by contacting the resort's front desk.

To enhance your trip, consider downloading a few useful apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is essential for getting around. For communication, messaging apps like WhatsApp or Viber are widely used. If you plan to use ride-hailing services or book local transport, ensure you have the relevant apps installed. Traveloka itself is invaluable for managing your bookings and discovering local activities.

Familiarize yourself with basic Tagalog phrases, as English is widely understood, but knowing a few local words can be helpful and endearing. Understanding the local culture and being prepared with essential digital tools will contribute to a smoother and more enjoyable visit to Bagac.

It's like going back to the Spanish era. The restorations of old houses are amazing. The room should add more lighting. But overall, the place is perfect for balikbayans and foreign guests who want to capture the old Philippines.

The ambience is spectacular and lots potential for development. They have many activities that you can enjoy. However there food are bit pricey with small serving and less menu choices hope they could add some variety. Hope they could improve there room services as our complimentary water was serve in the next morning and towels was delivered almost check out time already. There back area outside of the room that facing the Estero should be consistently clean up. Lastly, Hope they could improve there check out systems. If possible there has exclusive line for it as there 3 tables almost occupied by day tour transactions.

We had a great moment at Las Casas. If you are an avid fan of antiques, old hispanic community, quiet and relaxing place, then this is the place to be. Kids and adults from our family enjoyed our stay. The surrounding is just picture perfect. Customer service is superb as the staff are friendly and responsive. Breakfast is modest but food is delicious. Overall stay is superb. Will definitely come back!

Room rate was too expensive base on the room amenities. The supplies given looks cheap! No five star accommodation was felt despite the amount they charge... Restaurant menus are too expensive..breakfast food they serve were spoiled like the longganisa !...place is nice but need more improvement

Very nice experience, however, we were transferred to another room (Casa San Miguel) and we couldn’t sleep peacefully because of the footsteps from upstairs and noise from outside and there was something like metal chains dragging on the floor every hour or so lol scary!

The check-in process was quick and easy. Upon going inside the room, we noticed that it smelled a bit musty and needed to be aired out. It was dark and there was mold on the ceiling. The bathroom is huge and beautiful though. I would rather stay inside the bathroom than in the bedroom. There was also a weird smell on the pillowcase. The place is definitely worth visiting, but the hotel isn’t the best.

We were given a room that is poorly maintained. I don’t know if agent is even looking/ acknowledging special requests because I remember asking for a high floor room — didn't receive even an acknowledgement, but then I was given a room at the ground floor, unkept and poorly maintained. At night time after dinner there were wet shoe prints inside our room that was obviously not ours. I called the housekeeping and they confirmed no one does a room check but they refused to review the CCTV because apparently nothing has been stolen but they cannot even explain the wet shoe prints either! Ending is we didn’t sleep the whole night out of fear! Not really a good experience

The staff deliberately ignore the guests. From the reception people to the jeepney drivers. The place is obviously under staffed.

It was a memorable and one of a kind experience for me and my family. Child friendly resort. My preschooler enjoyed the beach and the pool while my parents enjoyed the picturesque surroundings. Staff are very nice and approachable. The whole resort is very clean. You can see fishes in the river, dragonflies and butterflies flying around. I will come back with other relatives especially my lola. Con: Needs improvement in maintenance of bathrooms' plumbing, there was no water in the faucet when we arrived but they fixed it right away

All in all it was great except the pool for the hotel guests. They call it “batis”. Thumbs down for the pool because it is very dirty. They need to provide a new pool for the hotel guests.
