Great hotel in Manila, on a busy main road but quiet enough in room. AC at perfect level. Friendly and helpful staff. `Close to a lot of the touristy spots. Rooms are clean and spacious and well stocked for the price. Real Bargain. Be aware there are 6 floors with no Elevator. The only negatives are more on Manila, you are a 10-15 minute walk from the station over uneven ground around missing pavements. Common in most areas of Manila. Ride a jeepney, they go by every minute to save time and money. The area seems safe, but is intimidating at night, no/limited street lights. Thats all part of the fun of Manila. Not to be missed.

Your Travel Guide to Manila as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Manila from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is the main entry point. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia offer frequent flights to Manila from key cities such as Cebu (approx. PHP 2,000-PHP 4,000, 1.5 hours), Davao (approx. PHP 2,500-PHP 5,000, 2 hours), and Iloilo (approx. PHP 1,500-PHP 3,000, 1 hour). Booking your book flight in advance can often lead to significant savings.

If you prefer land travel, bus services are extensive. From Northern Luzon, buses depart from terminals in Baguio (approx. PHP 500-PHP 800, 6-7 hours) and Vigan (approx. PHP 800-PHP 1,200, 9-10 hours). From Southern Luzon, you can find buses from Naga (approx. PHP 700-PHP 1,000, 8-9 hours) and Legazpi (approx. PHP 900-PHP 1,300, 10-12 hours). These buses typically arrive at various terminals in Metro Manila, from which you can take a taxi or public transport to reach your accommodation.

Driving to Manila is also an option for those coming from nearby provinces. Major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect to the city. Toll fees can vary, but for a round trip from areas like Pampanga, expect around PHP 500-PHP 800 in tolls. Navigating Manila traffic requires patience, and parking can be challenging in some areas, so consider this when planning your route.

Best Time to Visit Manila

The ideal time to visit Manila for most Filipino travelers is during the dry season, which typically runs from November to April. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making it more comfortable for outdoor activities and exploring the city. Temperatures generally range from 25°C to 35°C. This period also avoids the heavy rains and potential typhoons that can occur during the wet season.

The months of December to February are particularly pleasant, with cooler temperatures and less rainfall, making it a peak tourist season. If you prefer to avoid the largest crowds and potentially find better deals on accommodation and flights, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or late April. The wet season, from May to October, brings frequent rain showers, which can sometimes be heavy and prolonged, impacting outdoor plans.

Food and Dining Near Manila — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

No trip to Manila is complete without indulging in its rich culinary landscape. A must-try is **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish, featuring meat (usually chicken or pork) braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. You can find excellent versions in traditional Filipino restaurants and even in casual eateries across the city. Many local carinderias offer their own take on this beloved classic.

Another Filipino favorite is **Sinigang**, a sour and savory soup, typically made with tamarind broth and a choice of meat (pork, beef, fish, or shrimp) and vegetables. Its comforting, tangy flavor is a staple in Filipino households. For a taste of something sweet and refreshing, try **Halo-Halo**, a popular dessert made with shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, and topped with leche flan and ice cream. It's perfect for cooling down on a warm Manila day.

For those seeking a more substantial meal, **Kare-Kare** is a rich oxtail stew in a thick, savory peanut sauce, often served with bagoong (shrimp paste). The combination of tender meat and the unique sauce is a delight. You should also sample **Lechon**, a whole roasted pig known for its crispy skin and succulent meat, often a centerpiece at celebrations but available in many restaurants.

Near Leez Inn Malate, exploring the Malate district itself will lead you to numerous dining spots. From local carinderias serving authentic home-style Filipino dishes to more contemporary restaurants offering international cuisine, there's something for every palate and budget. Don't shy away from trying street food from reputable vendors, but always exercise caution. For a reliable dining experience, consider establishments within Robinsons Place Manila or local favorites in the Malate area.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Manila

Filipinos are known for their hospitality and warmth. A common greeting is "Mano po," where younger people take the elder's hand and gently press it to their forehead as a sign of respect. When invited to someone's home, it's customary to bring a small gift. Dress modestly when visiting churches or religious sites. Filipinos are generally understanding of tourists, but showing respect for local customs will always be appreciated.

Manila is a large city, and like any urban center, it's important to be aware of your surroundings. Stick to well-lit and populated areas, especially at night. Be mindful of your belongings, particularly in crowded places like markets or public transport, to avoid petty theft. It's advisable to use reputable taxi services or ride-sharing apps. For emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911. Keep the contact details of your hotel and local authorities handy.

To enhance your travel experience, consider downloading a few essential apps. A reliable navigation app like Google Maps is crucial for getting around. Ride-sharing apps such as Grab are widely used and offer a convenient way to book transportation. For communication, consider messaging apps like WhatsApp or Viber, which are popular in the Philippines. Having these tools readily available on your smartphone can make navigating Manila much smoother and safer.

I don't like the place and amenities. The stay was a disaster, and it was not disclosed that the building has no elevator. So you need to use the stairs, and we stayed on the 4th floor, and the room smells bad, and also on the first night at 1 am, the AC stopped working, and they had to move us to a different room at 1 am in the morning. OMG everything is dirty and smells bad.

I've stayed here many times, the only negative point is, it's very noisy early in the morning due to jeepneys using the road in the front. Otherwise it's okay because it's a short ride to the middle of the town. I've been here so many times.

This Hotel should be closed down, I am 73 years old, My room was on the third floor and i had to climb three flight's of stairs with 4 pieces of luggage cause there is no elevator, the room was extremly small with no place to put luggage, no cabinets to hang clothes, no place to put water, no refrigerator to have cold water, the internet was terrible and did not work, I was in this hotel for only 10 minutes, I left and had to go to anoter hotel, this hotel should be closed down.

I've stayed here many times, the only negative point is, it's very noisy early in the morning due to jeepneys using the road in the front. Otherwise it's okay because it's a short ride to the middle of the town. I've been here so many times.

The units were clean and spacious enough although stairs were good exercise. The area was a poor area with many beggars in the area and rats scurrying around close by. Interesting experience to travelling Philippines especially Manila
