Your Travel Guide to Quezon City as a Filipino Traveler

How to Get to Quezon City from Manila and Major Philippine Cities

For the most convenient booking, book flight tickets through Traveloka and compare fares across major airlines.

For travelers coming from other parts of the Philippines, flying into Metro Manila is the most efficient option. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate numerous flights daily to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from key cities such as Cebu, Davao, and Palawan. Fares can range from PHP 2,000 to PHP 6,000 or more, depending on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets. Travel time from these cities typically ranges from 1 to 2 hours.

If you are traveling from nearby provinces in Luzon, bus travel is a common and economical choice. Major bus terminals in Quezon City, such as those near Cubao and EDSA, serve routes from various provincial destinations. Bus fares generally range from PHP 500 to PHP 1,500, with travel times varying significantly based on distance and traffic, often taking anywhere from 4 to 10 hours.

Driving to Quezon City is also feasible for those coming from accessible regions. Major expressways like the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) connect to Metro Manila. Toll fees will apply, typically ranging from PHP 300 to PHP 600 for a round trip, depending on your starting point. Navigating through Metro Manila can be challenging due to traffic, so allow ample travel time.

Best Time to Visit Quezon City

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Quezon City is no exception. The dry season, from November to April, generally offers the most pleasant weather for exploring. During these months, you can expect sunny days with lower humidity, making outdoor activities more enjoyable. Temperatures typically range from 24°C to 32°C.

The wet season runs from May to October, characterized by higher humidity and frequent rainfall, often in the form of heavy afternoon showers. While this period might see fewer tourists and potentially lower accommodation prices, it's advisable to carry an umbrella or raincoat and be prepared for potential travel disruptions due to weather. Peak tourist seasons usually coincide with major holidays like Christmas and Holy Week, when the city is livelier but also more crowded.

For a balance of good weather and manageable crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of November or February. These periods often provide a good climate without the intensity of the peak holiday rush, allowing for a more relaxed exploration of Quezon City's attractions.

Food and Dining Near Quezon City — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Quezon City, like the rest of Metro Manila, is a culinary melting pot, offering a wide array of Filipino dishes that showcase the country's rich flavors. A must-try is **Adobo**, the unofficial national dish, typically made with chicken or pork braised in soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and peppercorns. Its savory and tangy profile is a staple in Filipino households and restaurants alike.

Another beloved dish is **Sinigang**, a sour and savory soup, usually featuring pork, beef, or seafood with a tamarind broth. The sourness is balanced by fresh vegetables like kangkong, tomatoes, and onions, providing a comforting and refreshing meal, especially on a warm day. Its distinct taste is a true representation of Filipino comfort food.

For those who enjoy grilled specialties, **Lechon Kawali** (crispy fried pork belly) is a popular choice. The crispy skin and tender meat, often served with a side of dipping sauce, offer a delightful texture and rich flavor. It’s a dish that embodies the Filipino love for celebratory meals and indulgent flavors.

Don't leave without trying **Halo-Halo**, a characteristic Filipino dessert. This refreshing concoction is a mix of shaved ice, milk, sweet beans, fruits, jellies, leche flan, and ube ice cream. It’s the perfect way to cool down and satisfy your sweet tooth after a meal, offering a delightful medley of textures and tastes.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Quezon City

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When interacting with locals, a polite demeanor and a friendly smile go a long way. It's customary to use "po" and "opo" when addressing elders or those in positions of authority as a sign of respect. While generally a safe city, it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas.

Keep your valuables secure and be mindful of pickpockets in busy markets or public transport. For emergencies, the national emergency hotline is 911. It's also a good idea to have the contact numbers of your hotel and any local friends or family readily available. Staying informed about local news and advisories can also help you navigate any unexpected situations.

For seamless travel, consider downloading a few essential apps. Grab is indispensable for ride-hailing and food delivery, making transportation and dining convenient. Google Maps is crucial for navigation, helping you find your way around Quezon City and its surrounding areas. A currency converter app can also be helpful for managing your budget.

Familiarize yourself with basic Filipino phrases; while English is widely spoken, making an effort to use local greetings can be appreciated. Understanding local customs, such as removing your shoes before entering someone's home, shows cultural sensitivity. Quezon City is a diverse area, and embracing its local culture will enrich your travel experience.

I was moved 3x out of my room. First room, bathroom door broken. Second room, the TV is not a smart TV. Smart TV is only offered at Premium Rooms and not on Deluxe Room. Luxent is not listing this on the information. Third room, the bathroom floor is flooding. The fourth room after I requested a room service, the bathroom stinks. It smells stinky (urine). The floor mop that the cleaners used from other rooms. Luxent is not capable to handle an actual fire. There was a fire on 2/4/2026 close to 12mn. We have an event that night so majority of the attendees checked-in at Luxent. I was on the 12th floor. I went down a dimmed, narrow emergency exit stairwell. The exit sign is not illuminated. When I reached 9th, 8th and 7th floors there was a smoke in the stairwell. There was no one to assist you. Staff are not trained in fire safety standards, and evacuation procedures. They allowed us to stay at the hotel lobby. They should have evacuated us outside of Luxent building. Staff is not providing assistance to guests with disabilities. They do not have in-house emergency staff. My friend doctor assisted one of the guests that needs to be sent to ER. She was the one that gave the first emergency care and called the ambulance. No one from Luxent staff is aware that this happened. There were no letter of apologies from Luxent Management. It was brushed off under the rug. Luxent should be sued and closed down for endangering the safety of their guests.

Towels could be fluffier and whiter (they looked unbleached) Lobby is too fragrant, which can be a little irritating for people with allergies
